Cover versions that fortunately happened

not a patch on the original but i always liked this:

Gin & Juice

The name Waltraute is from Götterdämmerung, I think.

Mine come from the first and last subjects in a volume of an encyclopedia: Decorative-Edison.

this is Yuna, from Malaysia. recently signed to an indie label in the US, currently there to record/release an album.

check her out and hope you guys liked it

You're joking. The original is a million times better.

Since when has this thread been about being better than the original? It's simply an excellent cover. I'm not a Placebo fan or anything, I've just always like their take on that great track.

Ones that should never have worked, but did. Brilliantly:

Every Step You Take - Puff Daddy
Your Extra Time (And Your Kiss) - Tom Jones
Valerie - Amy Whitehouse

Worth taking the time to listen to both the original is exceptional one of my favourite pieces of music ever, the cover is a very good attempt to cover a(IMHO) flawless piece of music.

Johnny Cash - Hurt
Soft Cell - Tainted Love (and I also quite like Manson's version).
Echo & the Bunnymen - People Are Strange
Gary Jules - Mad World
Joan Jett & The Blackhearts - I Love Rock & Roll
The Fugees - Killing Me Softly
The Sundays - Wild Horses

Cash's Hurt is chilling and adds a lot to an already absolutely great song, also I've seen a live version of Killing Me Softly that absolutely mindblowing, in Dave Chappelle's Block Party (too bad they couldnt get it on to the soundtrack CD)

Lauryn Hill feat Fugees - Killing Me Sofly (Dave Chappelle's - Vidéo Dailymotion

Watch this one as the one on youtube is heavily out of sync.

Has anybody heard of Boyce Avenue? They're an American band which deal almost exclusively in covers and they're fairly decent, though they begin to sound the same in every song after a while.

Loved Frusciante's version of "How Deep is your love?" aswell.
