I think Rory Delap could do a job if he came out of retirement. Glenn Whelan wouldn't be such a bad buy either and we could certainly do much worse than Zoltan Gera.
Delap's long throws would certainly add variety to our attacks, whilst I hear that Southampton's Hooiveld (also a Dutchman) may be available.
I think we should ask Sunderland about Connor Wickham while we're at it, he could be a handful for United.
I actually think he's quite a good prospect, joking aside!
Delph has dic*ed on Arsenals midfielders in recent match ups and is very under rated. I appreciate your sentiment and I agree but only because its us.....but us is clevs..fletcher and fellaini!
I think we could make a panic signing only with van gaal as manager I think it's improve us regardless. Someone like de jong would be a huge improvement as the defensive midfielder and he'd probably be a last resort option and wouldn't be expensive.
Jesus, people would actually entertain the notion of paying money for Delph whilst we have Cleverley.

Not sure if this is the thread but the more I think about the crazy comment above (Delph) the more I worry about the sanity of some of you....
We have plenty of midfielder at the club. They just are not that good. We don't need more mediocrity. We need star quality.

We could trigger Carvalho's buyout fee, he'd be a top signing with a lot of potential for a position we need to strengthen. He'd be a top signing imo.
And with that, this years transfer forum has now officially come full circle. Back to the original debate back in Feb/March.
Iturraspe has a (expensive) release clause similar to the one Herrera had. If we can't get a big name I'd be happy to see us bring him in.
Very talented player who is exactly what we need beside Herrera, with the added bonus that they've both played together for years and know each others game inside out.
I still think we need two midfielders though (for squad depth) as well as a pacey winger to give our attack another dimension. Iturraspe plus one of De Jong/Lucas Silva/Khedira (relatively cheap) and Di Maria.
