Could Utd be sold soon?

If you get the money from the Saudis on top of how well the club is on a commercial level, you should all be laughing. United are a historic club with history and will be able to pay players even more crazy wages and it won't hurt your bank at all. Does mean that transfer fees in the future will be ridiculous (which is crazy considering how ridiculous they are at the moment).

Maybe the Glazers realise we are not winning big trophies soon with out heaps of investment and football planning. Good time to sell, seeing as they don't give a shit about the club

We’ll be quiet then, they don’t want to know about their ways of democracy. Yeah they are misinformed, but usually because they don’t really care. I mean how hard is it?

The embassy, it’s a fecking fortress overlooking the whole city. What can you do eh?

Pozdrav brate.

Pozdrav brate

I honestly believe that most people do care but you can only know what you are told or shown. How can anyone know what it was really like unless they were here. Their governments don't care just like ours but I do believe that most people care but are lied to, just like us serbs by the Milosevic regime.

I saw the NATO bombs hit bridges full of civilians, even schools (they were empty, thankfully) with my own eyes so I didn't need the media to tell me what was going on but CNN reported that they had warned the civilians about the airstrikes ( I never heard a warning, neither did any of my close friends).

Someone watching CNN would have thought the people that died had it coming since we were "warned", which was completely untrue.

Maybe a bad example but that's just a thing I remember from the NATO bombings. All those bombs did nothing to remove Milosevic, we had to remove him ourselves in the end anyways.

As much as we want to believe that some media is free and unbiased it's far from it and unfortunatelly many base their opinions on watching or reading news.

I even do it myself knowing how full of lies they are.

Where is the stat of the Glazers taking £600m out of the club. And united are STILL in debt since the takeover.

They still are. Each day there club remains little more than an advert for a few State.

Well, with respect, they’re not a bad advert if that’s the case. I live in Manchester and I’m sick of hearing from City fans how thrilled they are etc blah blah blah. In fairness, they are being served up some pretty decent stuff.

There's the 2nd annual Davos in the desert conference this week with Saudis attracting investment ventures to their diversification from oil. Right now a bunch of big wigs pulled out after the journalist's disappearance, purchasing a shiny toy like Manchester United would be the perfect occasion to paper over the cracks. Unfortunately this almost makes too much sense.

From a football perspective lets not make any bones about it,this would catapult Utd several levels at least, no debt, huge profits and an unlimited transfer kitty, blimey, what a proposition, its mouthwatering!

We'll have to delete all our posts and threads that mocked City and PSG to avoid getting laughed at by Bluemoon. :nervous:

Looks like the Saudis are interested in buying the club since most of the UK newspapers are in on this news now and they reporting about it . Meanwhile the Glazers are mulling over their options after earlier declaring that the club was not for sale .

The question now is if suppose they actually do get the take over done . Will they back the club properly like City owners or will United end up being a shiny PR toy for the Saudi Royal Family with the situation remaining the same . With Woodward taking care of the club affairs as before and making money for the Saudis now instead of the Glazers .

Saudis don't need revenue from the club. The club itself is the asset.

The thing is, we wouldn't actually need any of the so called oil money to bank roll us. We just need owners who won't bleed us dry with the money we make.

We're the joint number one sports brand in the world. We play fair within FFP.

We just need a stadium revamp, football plan put in place and a successful football team. The Saudis taking over us won't cripple us, like the long term plan of the Glazers would. Plus, if Saudis sell us in the future, they're more likely sell us at a loss than the Glazers would. Money is nothing for the Saudis.

For United to be a successful PR toy we'd actually have to be competitive, otherwise it'd reflect badly on the owners. Wouldn't surprise me if they attempted to copy the City model, the whole trying to make a franchise across different continents thing they've got going on.

To quote a great loser, "We're not here to take part, we're here to takeover."

Say what you want about them being deplorable, but don't doubt the fact that they would absolutely destroy the transfer window for good and not think twice about it:lol:

But as long as they are signing onto toothpaste and lovehoney sponsorships then they couldn;t care less.

Jesus this is really gathering legs....I seen it a couple of days ago and thought nothing of it but seems there's more and more links to it.

Don't know how I'd feel with Saudis owning us. It's one thing I didn't want us to become like City and PSG, just a toy for a rich owner

The moral gymnastics in this place if this happens!

It's not like we don't have money ffs. I mean if it happens I will obviously still be a fan, that's not something I can to just turn off and the club still has it's roots in Manchester, but I really really rather not accept blood money from an awful country with god awful rulers. Just an awful idea. Hopefully we're to much of a cash cow for Glazers to sell.

Its strange, I just don't think Utd would benefit from a state takeover. Would we ever spend more than our annual income anyway? It would guarantee us spending it all on players I suppose and always backing the manager but take the Pogba / Lukaku summers. Would all of this be worth it so we can sign a Verrarti type player alongside them?
I'm pretty sure we can afford Mbappe as we stand
There is a big difference, with the Saudi takeover, united wont have to pay any debt, all the revenue will go into the united accounts, and MBS wont be waiting the new year to take his shares of the profits like the Glazers do now.

If you were presented with a brief case containing a life changing amount of money and were told that it was all yours BUT the second you opened it a total stranger in a distant country would die, would you take the briefcase?

These new owners would find a way to circumvent FFP just like the owners of City and PSG before them.
We wouldn't really have to? Imagine us buying Neymar etc with our established brand name? We would legitimately pay it off with our massive fanbase.
Unless we want to buy 3 Neymars a summer than a 250/300 spend is already in our wheelhouse. We just limit ourselves to pay dividends, debt etc.
If all of that went to the manager then how much books cooking would we really have to do? We're already the example City etc use as market rates.

Has the stranger in question ever clapped when his plane landed?

Thats the thing, it wouldn't take a state takeover to achieve this. An Abramovich style owner would be enough.
This just seems like overkill

Guys come on, this is a complete nonstarter. Even if, by some freak occurrence, MBS bought the club, how in everything that is holy, will he pass the fit and proper persons test after everything he's done in Yemen and the Khashoggi affair last week? It's never going to happen.

Didn't even realise this was a potential thing until tonight.

Personally I'd be disgusted. Much more than a bunch of yank businessmen running the club.

Well I am not too sure about that . Maybe they are in it for the money too since they are investing 4 billion pounds . They must be looking at the commercial and financial side and thinking well this is a money making machine . United brings in a lot of revenue and makes profits . The current business plan under Woodward is bringing in a lot of dividends . We already spend a lot of money in the transfer market and on wages while still making a profit .

The Saudis can look at it as well United is a money making machine with a proper business structure which will keep bringing in the dividends for the owners . So lets use the brand name for our PR benefits while keep the same business core where we will make profits too while expanding our country brand name .

Thing is that the City takeover which was worth 210 million pounds I believe was a small operation compared to our forthcoming takeover if it happens . The United takeover will probably be the biggest one in sports . The Saudis have been vocal about investing in other fields apart from their oil business . They will probably clear off the debts but I do believe they will try to make money from the first day same as Glazers .

Well as other United fans I also want those unlimited transfer budgets if the Saudis take over but considering the cost of the whole takeover I am not very confident about it .

I can actually see Woodward being the biggest beneficiary of this takeover . Considering his business and money making experience I am sure the Saudis will probably keep him around while granting him more powers . With the debts gone from the books Woodward can probably expand the revenues and profits . He will probably deal in the transfer market same as he does right now .

Is there a single recorded instance of anyone not passing the fit and proper person test? Shimawatra passed it, didn't he?

when filthy obscene amounts of money are involved, morals are left way behind

One thing I don't get is, how are people so disgusted about the SA take over and would walk away from the club, howwever, they're not disgusted with the regime of the current owners and how they're affecting the club?

I'm sure most of these people haven't done jack about protesting against the current regieme!!!

I'd have them, just to see some of our first team players have their hands removed for stealing a living! Also, Woodward could make us a mint by getting us an official camel sponsor.

People probably see some kind of moral difference between the Glazer and al-Saud families. Can't think why.

I get the feeling but at least a toy is supposed to be fun, hence a football club is supposed to play great football to appease the owner.
At the current state of affairs is being an oil-backed Arab toy so much worse than a glorified American laundering machine?
