I'm genuinely interested whats the name of the practice?
No dentist in the UK have been open for Emergency work beyond a few urgent care centres that were set up, and they were referral only for only the most severe and ongoing cases. Eg swollen face and severe pain, and/or breathing problems.

Edit: The British Dental Association and the General Dental Council have both confirmed that Dental practices in England can only re-open from June 8th, if your Dentist is open before that date i would suspect it could be a dodgy unlicensed one. I would suggest you do some research into that mate

The Spanish flu was quite similar to the flus we have now.
The difference was no immunity and poor hygiene/overcrowding in what passed for hospitals at the time.
This thing could have easily been as bad if no action was taken.
We got lucky with the 358,000 dead, which is likely a good bit lower than then the actual death toll, did we?

It's the best of a very bad situation but that doesn't make it good. The credibility of the season is in tatters if we are honest and it is just being finished for the sake of it (and for money). The right thing to do was to finish the season now. Just like in other parts of the football league and just like a few hundred miles north in Scotland.
Who knows? I don't even know and I'm a police officer. What do key workers do? Whole teams will be wiped out. Nothings been communicated down.

Whats the alternative though? The track and trace system is obvisouly the way to go, yes there are some complications but that is inevitable in these unprecedented times. They are just rolling it out now so hopefully it will become more clear in the coming days, although I agree communication by the government throughout the pandemic has been lacking.
My issue is with the communication. As things stand this will decimate essential front line services and that's not to mention there's still just under 400 people dying each day.
Anyway so long as the important things are clear. Like Project Restart and finishing off this farcical end to the season.
Try explaining that to the families of the 350k people claimed by covid.
And why are you speaking in the past tense? The coronavirus is still very much with us, and even if it does clear up, there is a good chance of it returning.
I was more interested how it effects this football calendar.
A team is playing 2 games a week, if one person tests positive the whole team should isolate for 14 days. Thats 4 games.
They must be getting special treatment in regards to this.

Having a mere 10million population naturally helps them stay lower down the total case list, whereas the USA obviously stands out a mile.

You'd probably have to look at excess suicides to make an educated guess. Excess deaths is used quite a lot to get accurate numbers for Covid-related deaths.

The lockdowns clearly did the job as we've seen a steady decrease in death rate's across the globe since they were introduced. The UK has seen a 500 per day decrease over the last 5 weeks alone. Italy, Spain and many other nations are also reporting a significant drop in death rates.
How can you say they were a mistake?
If someone is saying there is an uptake in suicides then you better provide some proof for such a glib comment

Sweden is doing worse than the US. Sweden has a population of 10 million people and 4220 deaths. The US has 330 million and 103 000 deaths. The US also have large cities where people live not only close to each other, but on top of each other in skyscrapers. In these very, very densely populated areas corona thrives.
I can tell you that the quotes from the Norwegian minister of health is false. We are also still in lockdown, although some few restrictions are not in use anymore. It is also agreed that we will have restrictions in place at least until the 16th of august. We also, across all political belief, agree that the early lockdown in relation to the virus spreading across Europe, is what saved us from the death tolls as seen in Sweden and other places.
Edit: I just read the whole article in The Spectator now, and that is all made up and taken totally out of context. I would stop reading anything on there, because there for sure is no editorial scrutiny or checking basic facts.

I have no idea if there have been more or fewer suicides compared to the historical average. Instinctively you'd suspect there would be more but I haven't seen any data on it.
