Could Ronaldo leave in the Summer to play CL football?

If he’s allowed to leave and would take a pay cut, any club without financial issues. Unless he’s got a clause in his contract though, he’d have to buy himself out.
You're still not naming a club, so here I'll do it for you.

Madrid have a better number 9 there right now.
Bayern have a better number 9 there right now.
Barcelona, never, have financial issues.
Dortmund, Never, doesn't suit their style of play.
Liverpool Never Chelsea Never.
Atletico have a better Number 9 there right now.
Ajax can't afford him.
Juve were thanking God they were able to get rid of him.
Milan have Zlatan, Inter have financial issues.

Maybe if he took a pay cut he could go back to Sporting and be in the UCL with them tbf.

Or maybe PSG, although they'd have to get rid of one of, Mbappe, Neymar and Messi first. They don't seem to care about squad balance anyway tbh.

That's an interesting question. He has never left a club after just one season in his career. Unless you count Sporting.

Could Barcelona go for him ? They will probably want to add some big names whenever they sort out their money problems.

This is a good question. I would say that the answer depends on what his motivation for joining was.

I remember that in one of his first post-match interviews he was talking about winning the Premier League and the Champions League. I cannot help but wonder whether he really believed that was possible.

I was more fearing the horrific though unlikely reality of him having a clause and then going to City this Jan, winning the treble and cementing our fall into a maelstrom of malaise.

Basically being the footballing equivalent Anakin Skywalker becoming Darth Vader.

If he'd have a clause I'm sure it wouldn't be for Jan, it would be for the summer and tbh come summer time, I don't see City going for him when there'd be Haaland and Kane available.

Which CL team would agree to buy out a 37-year-old's contract and then offer astronomical wages?

PSG, may be. I don't think any other club would. He's stuck with United for two years.

The idea of Ronaldo choosing a CL club should United fail to make the top-four is ridiculous.

Im sure he has a clause in his contract to allow him to leave after just one year. Not sure where he would go though.

Ronaldo cares only about himself. Always has been always will be, so yes if we didn't qualify to CL next season, he would leave.

We'll probably end up in top 4 though, as ultimately we have more quality than Spurs, WHU or Arsenal.
I initially thought this too but our performances recently have been so desperately abject that I'd be surprised if we finished above West Ham and Arsenal now.

If Counte gets top four i could see him wanting Ronaldo as a Kane replacement. PSG might want to replace Mbappe as well.

Jesus Utd are turning into a club with a bunch of ***** for supporters.

Ronaldos been great, I've been thrilled to watch him play for Utd again and smash goals in for us, can that not be enough?

He was never gonna be an even mid term solution. There's likely some clause in his contract depending on CL qualification. But at 37 it's not like Ronaldo is going to win us a PL or CL on his own with a McFred midfield.

He'll probably be off the the MSL or somewhere if we're outside the top 4, and best of luck, it's not like he'll be signing for a European super power once/if he leaves.

He would definitely leave if he can‘t play in the CL.
I can even see him join Sporting if they make the CL and play his last 2 years there.

Don't really care to be honest. I know some United fans seem to put his interest first and hence would love to not see him 'wasted' but I just find that weird. I'm not fussed, he doesn't improve us much and is not in our long term plans. A mobile CF may just help the next manager if he's progressive in his tactics.

Here's what I find weird. Without him we'd be out of the champions league by now simple as that.

Quality means feck all when we can't show it on the pitch.

First of all, it is good if he leaves, 500,000 per week wages can develop 3-4 great young players, rather than building a team around 36-37 years old striker.

But I do not think any team can afford him now, if they do, Man United won't get him.

He is Glazer's buy, after he arrived Man Utd shares price increase 11%, and Glazer sold some of their shares at 137 million right after shares price increased. Ronaldo is more on marketing purposes, he won't bring any good to the team at his age and his way of playing for the team and EPL.

No one want him at 500,000-600,000 pound per week, how could he leave?

P/S : Couldn't believe why Man United fans are so worried if Ronaldo leaving? No player is bigger than club, are you Man United fan or Ronaldo fan?

If his goal is just to attend CL and improve his goal record in the competition, he made a huge mistake coming to United. He should have gone to a small league and a club that goes to the CL regularly.

He should have come to Manchester United with a goal of making them to the next level, specifically making the last years result(2nd in the PL, EL final) into win the PL and go at least quarterfinal in the CL, or at least foster the young players to become at least half of what he was. As of now he is failing in both parts and if he just runs away because of no CL football, he is just a footballer that only thinks of himself. It will set as another example why Messi is the superior of the two. Messi truly cares about Barcelona, despite of results.

No one never knows, if there was no Ronaldo, United would have played like they did last year, which is enough to get similar results.

We didn't make it past the group stages last year if you don't remember.

Besides this is lazy analysis and has been debunked before. Us leaking goals has nothing to do with Ronaldo.

Defense start with the first attacker and attack starts with the goalkeeper.

That phrases is now basic of the game nowadays and any top team follows it. I'm sorry but If you don't understand this your understanding of the game is limited.
Of course, Maguire has some huge questions to ask but no one on the pitch is safe from criticism of both attack and defense.

Last years group was much difficult compare to this years group. One great team with a world class manager, one descent team with a world class manager. This year, it's just two descent team. Lazy comparison from your side.

I'm not accusing Ronaldo yet because this is just a rumor and possibly some BS story. However, if it turns out true, let him go... it would clearly show that he has no love for the club and Manchester United is too huge of a club to deal with such, and I repeat, it will show why he is the inferior compared to Messi.

I disagree, he has 5 goals so far. That's already more than he managed the last 2 UCL campaigns with Juventus and one less than 3 seasons ago (his highest goal scoring UCL campaign with Juve was 6 goals) . It's also 2 more than Messi which is probably the only guy he cares about.

Would be a travesty to see him playing Europa league so I hope he leaves if we sink that low.

He should if Utd don't make top 4. The world deserves to see Ronaldo in the CL. I would prefer Utd turn things around this season and he stays.

Neymar - Ronaldo - Messi
Pogba/Di Maria - Verrati
CDM
Ronaldo moves to PSG.
Mbappe moving to Real Madrid.
Pogba to PSG too (Free transfers history include Widjnaldum, Herrera etc)

The only reason I see Ronaldo not wanting to do that a bit is maybe because he wants to keep a bit of a distance with his GOAT rivals; but who knows if that's something really big enough in his mind or not.

The other option I see him going to is back to Sporting Lisbon.

I always felt the United move was an almost thank you by going back to the clubs he grew back from.

SL > MU> RM - JUV > MU > SL

He has a two-year deal, right? I doubt anyone would pay a fee for a 37-year-old that would tempt us to sell so no.
If we’re not in the champs league, then the reduction in revenue will make a deal very possible as he’s on huge wages.
I understand completely why he’d want to leave if we don’t qualify. It won’t be because of the fans it’s be 100% on those running the club.

He will and he should. We are a fecking embarrassment and Ronaldo leaving will only prove that. There isn't a better way to teach the owners a lesson.

People are taking things for granted. Top 4 isn't a sure thing anymore.
You're giving them too much credit. Teaching the owners a lesson assumes they are actually capable of learning. They haven't so far so why would they start now?

The ‘we’re not worthy/I’d understand if he burned down OT and smashed up the statues on the forecourt’ routine with Ronaldo is a bit of a weird way for a grown adult to behave.

Messi back to Barcelona along with Xavi and Dani Alves and Ronaldo to PSG

Well, he did left the club once...and we were European power force back then
Mind you, this has nothing to do with the fact that without DDG and him we would be Godknowswhereatm.
I am only talking about his personality

No other top European super power were after him a few months ago, not sure why they would be after him a year later.

Everyone still talks about him like he’s still 28.

Think I saw you posting something similar in another thread. I questioned this position but you never explained it.

Us being dragged through a really poor CL group really does mean nothing at all. In fact, as noted in many quarters of the pundit arena, it’s a negative. It papers over cracks for the board and gives them another reason not to pull the trigger on Ole.

From a purely footballing perspective, Ronaldo has not improved our performances in any way...he was just become the focal point of our attack and as such, he has scored important goals. Our level has remained the same except the goals are coming from him because we have changed our approach to allow him to be that player. It’s self fulfilling. This is in no way evidence of the fact that without him we would be knocked out- without him last season we played similarly shite and still ended up in a EL final.

What is a concern is Ronaldo fans who are saying-“enjoy the ride...GOAT is back...just be happy”.In my very humble opinion, talents like Greenwood, Rashford, Amad, Elanga, Sancho would be blessing on any top side in Europe and along with a peak Bruno and a confident Donny behind and proper coaching be developed into a lethal frontline that is fluid and that can defend from the front and that set up United for years to come.

...that ain’t happening while they languishing on the bench watching Ronny boost his CL goal tally dragging us through games against really mediocre European sides.

your short term view is fine if you are just a fan of Ronaldo but a little perspective doesn’t mean you aren’t supporting him. I just want him used for the benefit of the team, not using the team to benefit Ronaldo.

Where’s he going to go? Chelsea and City are the only realistic destinations, and we’re certainly not selling him to either of them.

Didn't he try to go back to Madrid and they said no last summer?

Yes, he's Ronaldo but there aren't many places for him to go and no top team is going to build their attack around him at 37.

Please…take my wife…
Who the feck is going to finish 4th? Arsenal?!

I'm amazed people think he'd stick around without CL football. He is obsessed with extending his appearances and goal records in the competition he isn't going to waste a season at this stage. He would ask to go and we'd let him and it would make sense, without CL football next year we'd be going through a rebuild under a new manager and there's no point rebuilding around a 38 year old.

he can go if he doesn't want to be here, couldn't care less. his fanboys can feck off as well.

Imo we don't really need a rebuild.

We only need a good and brave manager, and a good DM.

Imo Ronaldo being back so far has brought more negativity than positivity to how we play. It's basically impossible for the current United to afford such luxury player. Pure poachers have been extinct from football for a reason. So, imo it's actually a blessing in disguise for United it he does leave.

People used to be obsessed with the idea of players turning us down just because of a potential 6-10 games a season.

So it wouldn't be the only reason for Ronaldo to go, as turning out for say Young Boys instead of us just because of champions league would be madness.

However if one of the Italian giants came in, or even Real again, who knows.
There's a dearth of top quality strikers right now which is why the likes of Ibra are still turning out and highly sought after pushing 40.
