While I understand their motivation in asking for money, it would be a lot better to throw these "cops" in jail or at the very very VERY least, fire them and prohibit them to carry a gun.
We have 2 different courts in the US. Criminal and Civil. You can file cases in both, and I won’t be surprised to see them do the same.

I wonder why residents of Sacramento are so hostile to the police? I mean it's been 10 months since Sacramento PD killed a 19 year old who police claim pointed a BB gun at them. It's been 15 months since they murdered an unarmed 22 year old in his grandmother's back yard and lied about it multiple times. It's been 3 months since those murderers were cleared of any charges. It's been 14 months since Sacramento County a sheriff hit a protester with his police car and kept driving away. It's been 2 months since a Sacramento PD officer rammed his police car into a 16 year old on a sidewalk at 27 miles per hour. Its been 1 month since that police officer was cleared of any charges and returned to action. It's been 26 months since Sacramento PD choke and repeatedly punched in the face a 24 year old man for jaywalking. It's been 12 months since Sacramento police handcuffed a 12 year old boy who was falsely accused of stealing.

The entire episode was a disgrace. Masai was racially profiled in a very public setting and Oakland PD are frantically and pathetically trying to cover it up.
Apparently the officer wanted to sue Masai for damages to his mental health. Some people have no shame.
And it's only weeks later that they are finally admitting what happened because police are liars and you can't trust anything they say.
Apparently it’s ok to cheer her being shot while the scene is still active though because other police did things.
She signed up to join a gang that routinely brutalized this community. Its not "ok" but it's perfectly understandable.

The fact that you defend people celebrating someone being shot, who had nothing to do with the incidents you mentioned, isn’t exactly a good look. You take offense to the comments aimed at people celebrating a person being shot and killed, but find it understandable that the original comments about her were being made.
