Conte | Spurs Manager

Well that’s unexpected. This whole situation seems a bit primadonna and childish to me.

As a side note, they may have a new manager coming into a team with Lukaku, Alexis Sanchez and Ashley Young. Where does that sound familiar:lol:

As I’ve laid it out like that, perhaps the time is right for José to go back to Inter, now that a few of his favorites are there.

Should have go to Inter instead of Spurs. Perisic is in that team.

Translation - Inter Milan lawyer Mattia Grassani: 'There are the margins for an immediate dismissal for just cause with liability charged to Antonio Conte'

He's been having a strop since his first week at Inter, gone from a world class manager to a world class excuse maker. Can't think of many clubs that would take a chance on him after the way he's behaved.

Definitely from the Mourinho school of divas.

Grassani is a sport jurisprudence lawyer but he's never represented Inter.

Similar to Mourinho, Conte is a great manager but you have to provide him with specific players who suit his system otherwise there will be a massive fallout guaranteed.

After the Chelsea title win, he sent that text to Costa and spent 260m buying players who largely were crap. Morata Drinkwater Bakayoko Barkley Rudiger Palmieri Zappacosta

Many of them weren't his first choice. Think he wanted Lukaku and Morata was plan B (and he didn't start that badly at Chelsea).

How can they shield him and players from criticism though? I haven't seen a board coming in public and defending the manager, makes for unneeded tension as if there's a big problem happening.

Criticism happens. Everyone criticize everything, it's logical to not pay attention to every single thing said about the team.
Somebody else already answered this in part. Also, by publicly backing the job he and his team were doing, by being closer to them to make them feel appreciated and backed...

There are many ways of doing this. Vidal was always a nutjob, yet when he was at juventus stuff(like getting drunk and starting fights in clubs virtually every night) started to come up in the media only at the end when juventus had decided to sell him
So simply another case of people in pro sports / football acting like man-childs, basically kids in adult bodies. OK, cool.
Can someone from Italy tell us how much of these accusations are fair and how much is Conte acting like a spoiled child? With just a few unverified tweets this seems impossible to judge.
Lots of managers who coached at inter complained about this. Spalletti had similar complaints just 2 years ago

In general, it's well known that at juventus, coaches and players just have to focus on doing their job on the training ground and the club takes care of everything else, it's a great place to work. Milan was the same

Inter on the other hand have always been a bit disfunctional, coaches and players felt like they were put into a "blender"(Bergomi's own words)

Trappatoni
Case in point. Said the same thing

This is why Inter went after Mourinho and why Mourinho felt like the perfect guy for Inter. In fact, possibly the only manager who could win the CL with them, for this reason, as he was a master of communication and manipulation, able to isolate his team and allow them to work in a good environment even though the club didn't help

But he's been provided with players that suit him at least at Inter.

They just signed him Hakimi. I mean it's obvious they're really backing him by pumping more players into the team. If you want the board to directly go to media and constantly talk about how great you're doing, it means you're just insecure and wants to make sure you're getting praised all the time. He's just looking like a drama queen here.

Latest news from Italy suggest that Conte is staying. Inter are still paying former coach Spalletti and cannot afford to fork out another 11 million to Conte on top of the wage of a new coach.
Conte also said that he would like to continue working on this project.

This means Sanchez will sign and Skriniar will most probably be sold

At one point, I wanted him to replace Mourinho. Glad we stuck with Ole now.

Seeing Allegri linked to replace him just reminds me that keeping track of Serie A managers is nigh on impossible. It feels like every manager lasts about 4 months and every single one of them has managed about 25 clubs, including at least one period at Verona, Lecce, Monza and Palermo and at least two separate stints at Napoli.

It's the same as the players, they all end up playing for eachother. From Ronaldo Nazario, Pirlo, Vieri, Vieira, Davids, Inzaghi, Seedorf and Ibra all the way down to Balotelli they all end up swapping around. Ancellotti managed Juventus before Milan, Conte was at Juventus then Inter, Allegri was at Milan then Juventus, Sarri was at Napoli then Juventus. None of them seem to care, yet the fans are some of the fiercest in Europe. It makes no sense to me.

He's worse than Mourinho I think. Can't turn on the charm the way Jose does.
Mourinho at his best was a genius in terms of communication and manipulation of the media. And he had very large shoulders and was more than comfortable to act as a lightning rod to shield his players. Also he usually won, which makes it easier obviously

Had they won the league Conte wouldn't have come out like this(though probably would have told that stuff to the higher ups, behind closed doors. Mourinho did too)

English football culture is built on a sense of community that simply doesn't quite exist in Italy except few clubs. There's always been a lot of detachment between fans and clubs in that sense.

To be clear, fans very much do care; juventus fans are gleeful right now, they pretty much hate Conte. Lots of inter fans didn't want him and would be happy to see him gone. Same with Higuain and Sarri with Napoli, Leonardo with Milan, etc...

Allegri is a different matter though, as he's never been truly embraced by either the milan or juventus fans. He's not identified as one of them

Any year since LVG? No chance I don’t think.

With a few players in and lifting a few players we had things could work well.
Of course beating 99 points from Pool this year would be very hard to do.
I think he would have improved our defense first of all and make our attack functional.

To be fair though he has struggled in Italy this season to keep the leads they had. Strange since he did that so well at Chelsea with the 3-5-2.

Imagine if that was a thing in this country? We'll all be too paranoid to properly take to our players

This man deserves a statue outside of Old Trafford. And a knighthood if he buys a couple more of our duds.

Should we name one of our stands to Signore Antonio Conte stand ? Maybe looking to buy De Gea / Lingard next ? We could do a swap with Handanovic.

Lingard, Mata, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, De Gea, Dalot, Mensah.

Make him an offer, pick 2 and get the third one for free.

Cheapest of the three for free.

It's sad but true that Ddg has gone from being our only world class performer to being lumped in with the deadwood. Grow your hair long again Dave, it worked for Samson.

Has he heard of a player called Mata? Think someone should send him a reminder.

His love for old players is something else. Now adding Matuidi to the list. His record with youth players is also pretty poor.

Think Matuidi is going to Inter Miami, not Inter Milan.

Not sure if this is sarcastic post, Matuidi didnt sign for Inter. He signed for Inter Miami.

This great man deserves first refusal on our players if he hasn't got it already.
