The feck you talking about? Of course it's a positive. McGregor is a UFC fighter and I can tell you right now that he'll never beat unless someone somehow gets him on the ground. How is that not a positive? Anyway don't be daft!
Disagree. Diaz already did that. I know the fight ended on the floor but McGregor took it there, because Diaz rocked him hard and McGregor was desperate.
Nah he will insist on boxing. Mayweather was just too young to fight against. Maybe Frank Bruno or James Buster Douglas would be interested. He will probably be able to knock those two off their perch.
I caught it from round 5 on. Though Floyd was sloppy and about the worst I've ever seen him. His right was fairly sharp but still he held back deliberately IMO. Conor looked awful IMO awful skills and form. Floyd carried him if he wanted to win earlier he would belittle he did his usual safety first approach.

Yeah I mean after training for a year to fight Mayweather. For his professional fight - McGregor was excellent in defence. Really really good. I can't see anyone matching
him in UFC. Of course, if he fights Ortega or Khabib and they can manage to get him on the floor.. he'd be fecked then. Otherwise he's head and shoulders above everyone else in punching.
Hmmm...I didn't see Floyd throw anything until the 6th. As for being sloppy, I don't know. He certainly took as a sparring session in my opinion. Whether he meant it or not, I guess we will never know. Anyway, you're the boxing authority around here but I'll have to disagree about Conor! He did as well as he could. He tried to box him hard in the first 4 rounds. It didn't work... he punched himself out and it's typical Mayweather after that.

I give Conor credit period for being in there. I was just so unimpressed with his technique but not surprised it just didn't translate. I think and have thought Floyd isn't Floyd anymore and would lose badly to top boxers.
Like I said I did t see the first 5 rounds but it's safe to assume Floyd did what he wanted during those rounds. He's a master boxer against a novice. What I saw Fromm conor was that he's awful and needs to not box ever ever ever again because he has no power and timing and technique. Not being a snob I know a boxer can't beat or compete with a world class MMA guy in the octagon.
Mayweather has had more intensive sparring sessions during training than what McGregor gave him in the fight.
Because that's Mayweather's style of boxing. He relies on wearing people out and winning by points and only going in for the KO when the opponents gives him a very big opportunity.

I thought Conor's stance was obviously all wrong. Also, he was touching gloves with Mayweather.. thing they do in MMA to find their range..Daft really... Not comparing anyone but it's a complete mismatch between boxing and MMA boxing. Overall it was a damp squib.
I'm just thankful this farce is over.

It's more a case of Floyd being 40, taking zeros risks and playing with his food than McGregor 'making a fight of it'. Pacquaio or Alvarez would of taken Connor out inside 3rounds
But you also have to think about Andre Ward who haven't fought anyone in ages. Klitchko, who's over 40 and nearly beat Joshua. Point is, Mayweather is the one of the greatest - no fecking question!
The biggest decline I saw in Floyd was his hand speed.
I'm was surprised that after all his training and amateur boxing as a kid that Conor couldn't adopt even a basic defensive shape or sit down on his punches at all.
PBF seemed slightly embarrassed that he schooled McGregor to get the record breaking 50 wins...

I didn't mind it really. Conor had pretty poor technique for a boxer and it looked weird, I think I said a while ago his cardio seems a problem st times and I stand by it, he was struggling pretty clearly from round 3 and he was done the last few, the ref did him a favour by not letting him go down. I though it was alright though but glad Conor goes back to mma and hopefully Floyd retires.

Conor even acknowledged he has cardio issues, in his FS1 interview. I don't know if he needs to push himself harder in that regard or if he's a guy who struggles naturally with cardio.
OK Conor can't be expected to sail through 12 rounds of boxing in his first fight but after 12 months of training for this his stamina was surprisingly bad. He should have been working in the gym all year in three rounds bursts with one minute intervals in everything that he did and we know he sparred extensively.

Thing is that Conor should be a banger if he learnt how to punch properly but that lack of technique made him feather fisted.
Can someone explain the stamina issue? Why was Conor gassed so much faster than Mayweather? Surely if there's one thing you can be as good at as your opponent it's stamina? (Compared to natural talent, experience etc)
Fair play to Conor for getting himself into a position to even be considered for a fight with Floyd. He never stood a chance which we all knew from the off. He started well though Floyd was in his own shell letting him wear himself out. Didn't completely embarrass himself. Can go back to UFC and fight whoever he wants or just retire on that paycheck. We won't be seeing him boxing again.

Punching and multiplying combinations is very taxing also McGregor is heavier than Mayweather, so he doesn't need to be as good but far better. Your strategy and your physic are supposed to be linked, McGregor needed to KO Mayweather in the first 4 rounds after that Mayweather was in his kingdom.
I watched it on a Dutch stream and the commentators were laughing their arse off from round seven to end. I can only guess is at Conor's technique.
