Gallagher is a Chelsea player under long contract. Tuchel is a fan of him. He will fight for his place in starting 11 like all players. Confident kid won't go away from challenges to play for his childhood club.

I like Gallagher but the idea of him and Mount together just sounds awfully bland
Yeah agreed. Not nearly enough running in behind - would guess he'd be a rotation option with Mount if all remains the same for next year. I'd have a strong preference to have someone like Pulisic on the other side pushing the defense deeper personally - with Mount / Gallagher dropping deeper into those pockets opening up and arriving late in the box. To be fair Gallagher has been class at those late runs all season - and that's been the dynamic of our current first choice front 3 of Pulisic / Havertz / Mount.
Yeah he seems like a Mount regen to me, I think they'll compete for a spot. Mount to me seems more intelligent with his off the ball movement (although that might be just a function of playing for a guy like Tuchel) and Gallagher seems a bit faster and with better dribbling / shooting skill.
I wonder if CP will try and make the move permanent. Vieira has done a good job with him so far.

How long left on his contract? Tbh I wouldn't be surprised if you managed to finesse CP for £60m if they come calling, you guys act like teflon dons when it comes to selling players

He's got 3 years left after this season and tbh he's one of our absolute top prospects. It would be absurd to sell without at least giving him a shot in our team. Would be happy to sell Barkley to Palace for £60m though
Oh yeah sorry, didn't mean to imply that £60m is his actual market value, just that that's what it'd take to even bring us to the table. Especially under new ownership and with multiple holes to plug within the squad it makes no sense for us to even consider selling him unless the offer blows us away.

Nah, our midfield has been poor of late. Kante is getting on and has been worryingly poor and injured far more than last year, Jorginho was already a bit of a lightweight even when he was in his physical prime, Kovacic is up there with the best midfielders in the league but has a bit of a spotty injury record, RLC is still somewhat inconsistent (especially defensively), and the less said about Saul and Barkley the better.
It seems very likely at least one of Jorginho / Kante will be moved on (and perhaps both) - in that case, our push for Tchouameni and a return for Gallagher make a lot of sense.

Interested to see what Chelsea do with him. I’d imagine he’ll want and expect to be first choice next season. He’ll also have an eye on making the WC.
Yeah apologies - didn't mean to come across as rubbing it in or anything! That said, we are running on fumes at the moment. Tough to rely on older players like Kante and Jorginho to be consistently available, and I think it's pretty clear better depth is needed.
Saul is here on a loan and will be gone in the summer. RLC had pretty low value last summer and reportedly Tuchel really liked what he brought in terms of his dribbling / carrying of the ball and versatility - I could have seen him going but at this point I think he'll be a valuable squad player for us for the foreseeable future.
I think he'd accept a role as the 3rd CM potentially - given the CBs we've been linked to it seems Tuchel still prefers to use a 3ATB system so that means 2 central midfielders most likely. I could see him being the first one off the bench if we're ahead to shift to a 3 CM system, or potentially being the first off the bench if we're behind with him playing deeper in the pivot. Important to keep in mind as well we are more likely to be involved in additional competitions compared to Palace - this season Kovacic has played more or less the same number of minutes in total as Gallagher despite missing something like 12 weeks due to injury.
I’m sure lots of clubs will make transfer bids, loan bids and enquirers. Will be surprised if we don’t flat out reject them.

Can't see them getting him on a perm at all. I don't think Chelsea will want to make the same mistake they have with Guehi, Abraham and Tomori. I could see them get RLC though instead.
Surprised he won our POTY yesterday tbh as his form has dipped in the second half of the season, the energy is still there but the G&A have dried up and he’s still quite loose in possesion which’ll be exposed when he goes back to Chelsea. I had him third for POTY behind Guehi and Wilf.
Looking at it objectively I don’t think he’s worth what Chelsea will want for him so I don’t think we’ll sign him either. Eze is coming back in to form now so I expect we’ll rejig the balance of the midfield slightly instead and sign a specialist DM and an up and coming B2B midfielder, and Eze will take up the mantle as the most advanced midfielder.

He's a young player still learning. No-one ever expected him to leave Palace a complete player. He'll continie to grow at Chelsea. I think the POTY was well deserved.
I got chastised on here for suggesting his form had dipped, glad someone who has watched him regularly this season is saying the same.
He seemed to be doing things naturally at he start of the season yet looked like he was overthinking things in the past ten games or so, albeit I havent watched every game in full.

He's not that good. He's always been about workrate and commitment first and foremost. In many ways he's a traditional English player. I said all along that once his end product dried up and people watched him more then the knives would come out. He's still better than I thought he would be after watching him in the England youth teams but in a top side he's going to be like Ji Sung Park was for United.

Yeah but it's like if someone offered £60m for Rashford 3 years ago, you'd all probably have said get fecking lost. It's the hope in his potential rather him being worth £60m back then that would cause that reaction. Its the same here. I think Gallagher is a fantastic talent who is far from the finished article. If he fulfills some of his potential, it could save us spending £60m on someone else.

Seems an obvious Kanté replacement to me long term. Certainly will get minutes with Kante's injuries and he might well be effective further forward instead of the likes of Ziyech, Pulisic etc too.

I still like the Aaron Ramsey comparison - ridiculous engine, big contribution in the final third for a midfielder, but not really clear he has the tactical discipline, technical security, and passing range to be a great fit in a double pivot, especially in today's tactical systems. Tuchel's two CMs are often tethered together only a few yards apart when out of possession and not pressing high, they move in tandem and they are pretty selective about going forward in transitions. The primary role of the position is to help control matches with and without the ball. Maybe Gallagher could learn but I've never seen him play on a leash like that. At Palace he is just all over the place like an attack dog.

He is still a kid and no need to compare with any player. One thing he always has is work hard on the pitch. Not hiding away on the pitch. Of course like all kids he had his ups and downs in his first full top flight season with palace.
Look like he can give tactical flexibility to tuchel to play 4-3-3 against defensive teams in my opinion. Any way very good player to have with room for huge improvements.

Would never happen, but he would do well on the right at United....... especially considering what we have right now.
Someone compared him to Milner as well. All top sides would be happy to have this kind of player in their squad but he’s not going to become a truly elite player.
