Community Shield 2022: Liverpool v Manchester City 5pm BST 30 July

It don’t matter to the ones not participating but it’s the first official game of the new season and I enjoy it personally!
Yeah don’t get me wrong I’d love to be in it. Probably because it means we’d have won something the year before, but I wouldn’t count it in trophy tallies if we won it.

Champions League final to close the season and Community Shield to open it.

Absolutely it counts, trophies build prestige and as you said playing for this trophy means you won something significant the year before. Every team should want to play for the community shield because it means your winning trophies.

That’s how I look at it at least.

Going to be interesting seeing City’s play style this season. Couple of times Haaland has made runs in behind but the pass hasn’t come. Guess they’re not used to playing with an out & out striker yet.

Low quality game so far. I think City only played like 2 preseason matches which is interesting

Both teams are not in their usual standard. Liverpool had some dangerous situations though.
