Commentary legend: Michael Owen

out of all the clubs he played for, none of them like or want him

Pretty remarkable that isn't it?

I suppose Real Madrid fans feel nothing towards him, he was there for one forgettable season, so that's probably his best relationship with a set of fans. Although I imagine he's pissed a lot of them off by making fun of Ronaldo.

Yes

His voice bores me no end, and he doesn't even say anything worth listening to. Kind of dissapointing considering that he doesn't come across as being thick or poorly educated, he's rather well spoken but dull as dishwater.

Also, I knew someone who used to fly him up and down the country and let's just say that I was told less than favourable stories about his pesonality and the way he treats your average person.

Michael Owen is the David Brent of football. The guy who thinks he is hillarious but just makes everybody feel awkward.

He's a professional footballer that played for RM, surely he of all people should know that Ronaldo's suffering from a hormonal imbalance hence the weight gain. Absolutely shocking thing to say.

He makes Gerrard seem wildly exciting.

Same here. I know a couple of shit stories about him from a friend who lives near him.

I try to avoid BT Sports at all cost. For the amount of money they have invested, they are unbelievably bad at recruiting proper commentators. Sky still has the best product and the best commentators, 2nd best is NBC.

"Footballers these days often have to use their feet"

"To score a goal, for me, you need two headers"

"I knew it, I knew it! I was going to say Balotelli would score but I didn't"

Owen does come across as pretty thick, but I can't help thinking he massively hams it up; à la Kamara. Some of these quotes are just too stupid. The Mick Jagger one just sounds like he was trying really hard to be witty but completely told it wrong.

Its funny, cos I remember thinking last time, are there any set of fans for a club hes played for, that actually likes him?

As much as I love Ronaldo and Roberto Carlos and think Owen is a cnut, I don't think Carlos' defence has actually helped.

It's like he's really trying hard not to agree with Owen's comments but can't quite figure out a good way of putting it.

Found it very interesting though when he and Hargreaves both said that managers never tell players how to play .

Does make sense i suppose that if you world class defenders worth millions for example you don't try telling him how to defend unless your Moyes and keep showing them videos of Phil Jagilieka

I can't stand Owen. He shouldn't be allowed to do punditry

Fergie should never have bought him

Here in the US we don't get to listen to him at all but jesus, I can't believe these quotes are actually true :lol: Keep this up and he might one day run for the POTUS.

What was he going on about with Rooney?

He kept saying Rooneys been in poor form and how he hasn't played regularly, but he should play because he is captain.

He's a fecking idiot. I always liked him when he was younger but now he's commentating he makes no sense about 90% of the time. He shit on Liverpool twice and is now an ambassador for them.
A lot of my Liverpool supporting friends don't like him either saying he's a Judas.

He's saying Rooney is still a world class option to have.

we're in perfect transition apparently. (According to Michael Owen)

And "you can have too many great players"

He's not the brightest.
