Impressive. I made it halfway through the first drive.
Lightweights. ;) I'm probably older than both of you and I made it to the end. Worth it too. Great game.

Damnit!
Honestly? Watching parts of both games of a doubleheader, double losses, to the fecking Rockies will suck the life out of anyone. I just gave up and went to bed.
Hey, it was my birthday Saturday so I'd been out with the family, suffered the Vols pitiful performance and still made it to 2.30 in the morning.

Sorry buddy, no excuses. :)

Look at you with the "I made it another year" flex. :)

I will say 5 Hail Prime Times and promise not to do it again.

Been a huge Deion fan since the 80s, but the way all his media pals are circling the wagon to promote and hype him up, often turning their channels into Deion infomercials, is pretty appalling. I like what he's doing at CU though.

There's a bit of cognitive dissonance here with liking Deion & being a UM fan, but I have the same as I loved Michael Irvin when he was at the U.

We appreciate swagger and no one had more than Deion. Plus he is from Fort Myers which is nearby.

Interesting. But Coral Gables is like half the distance to Fort Myers, guess it came down to the relationship (and the food).
UM recruited hard in their backyard in places like Belle Glade & other small towns around Lake Okeechobee almost exclusively for about a decade until FSU & UF cottoned onto it. They grow them different in Belle Glade etc.

Once Bowden started targeting that area, he started to peel some players away from UM. Florida for the longest time couldn’t break into the area because they were looked at as pussies for not playing UM for a long time. The only choice was between UM & FSU.

Recruiting pre internet was the wild west In those days there was little tape on most players and you could literally drive to schools to recruit one guy and randomly pick up on an opposition player you never previously heard of, who would end up as one of the best ever. Beyond Deion, Ray Lewis’ recruitment was totally random.

Before they were pals, Deion the player interrogates Skiyupp about suggesting in his book that Aikman was gay.

Pre NIL, the college game was largely driven by bag men, particularly in the SEC.
I vividly remember walking around Doak Campbell stadium after an FSU win back when there was an athletics dorm within shouting distance from the stadium.

I'd see boosters palming cash to players when doing a golden handshake. Right out in the open, 8 or 9 boosters making sure every player got some. They were incredibly slick doing it, just like a pickpocket but in reverse. It all happened on the 1/4 mile walk from DCS to the dorm.

Better players like Marvin Jones & Tamarick Vanover would always get envelopes while the rest just got a bill or two.

Yeah, I think Bama had a pretty intricate system set up through donors where they would get recruits and their family members all kinds of stuff. At least NIL, for all its criticized for, has been effective in doing away with the old system.

A great article about such a nice cat who happened to play college football & basketball at an elite level…

FSU by 3 scores
I'm trending optimistic, but not that optimistic.
Clemson has played 2 good halves of football in 3 games, and they were against Charleston Southern and Florida Atlantic. I’ve got no reason to not be pessimistic.

Thanks gents, I’ll be putting down a hefty wager on Clemson to win outright. Between Cal’s shocking shift to actual optimism and Red’s pouty pessimism I am feeling great!

not really, I don’t gamble. But if I did…….

Let’s go boys.

Glad this game isn’t at night, Death Valley is a tough place to play under the lights.

Hey folks, random question from a European... I've always wondered, how do they do substitutions in American football? How do the players know to get on or off for certain plays?
Mostly by yelling out what the personnel package is at the moment. If you’ve got 10 personnel on the field, that’s 1 RB and 0 TE. If you hear coaches yelling 12 and you’re one of the starting TEs, you know you’re rotating in and the 2 slot WR already know they’re coming off.

Also if you’re in the rotation it’s your job to be on the sideline following your position coach & watching the person you rotate with to see if they tap their helmet - that’s a universal “I need out” thing
