I think that the line on OU and USC would open at OU -8 and move up a little from there. It would be a great game and I think higher scoring than most would expect.

BTW AlekM, USC has a very good defense. They can compete with OU and like manufanatic mentioned, a team that is rolling along can lose the momentum and develop rust with a 3-4 week layoff. That said, I still think OU will be a double digit favorite and I don't expect them to slip up (would bet on OU covering up to 14). Miami lost simply because they committed 5 turnovers and allowed Ohio State to control the game and then had to come from behind just to force overtime. Then, well, we know about that controversey.

:nono:
Lets not go there again Raoul may kill us all

I'd be surprised if Miami win. They're not playing very well right now. Should be relatively close though.

Well that was a bit of an asskicking wasn't it. Kudos to Norm and Wanny for making it happen. Allowing Jay Fiedler to go 16-20 and three TDs and Ricky to get 100+ is a good recipe for disaster.

Dallas played like a shit...Mario Edwards can't defend and I've said this for four years. I was a bit shocked to see Miami's offense move. About time too. I always thought Fiedler was shit, but today he showed me more. However, Carter has shown brilliance in one game only to struggle the next game, so I can't praise Fiedler too much. The game was still in the balance until Taylor's fumble return for a TD. Dallas basically sacked it in right there. They can't play from behind. I bet they get an ass chewing by Parcells and probably a long week of practice...starting on Saturday. I will expect a better performance at Philly in 9 days. Still surprised Hutchinson didn't play in the 4th quarter.

Even as a FSU fan I must admit that Miami did get robbed but thats over now. All I can say is what a weekend the Dolphins crushed the boys on the road and the Noles shocked the gators in the swamp heres hoping that United do the buis on the road at chelski

Ok...OU gets their ass kicked and will still be in the national title game...another reason why playoffs ARE A MUST. Texas beat Kansas State's ass...OU beats Texas' ass...and how KSt whoops up on OU...so does who is better?

On any given day. :wenger:

I think LSU are playing at a very high level right now. They'll probably win the NC if they get there.

Just want to talk a little bit about Div 1-AA football where there are playoffs. I am an alumn of Florida Atlantic and they advanced to the Semifinals under the guidance of Howard Schnellenberger. FAU dominated the game and were up 41-3 at one point. They play undefeated Colgate next week down here in Lockhart Stadium( formerly the MLS' Miami Fusion's home field). I have to go and support my school. Next year thou no more playoffs, they will be in the Sunbelt conference. :)

Tehy lost badly to Colgate. Who i think got ripped apart at the seams by champion Delaware. I feel abd for me dolphins

Indy kicking Denver's ass at the half.

I went 4-0 in the Wild Card weekend. My scores were off, but I got all 4 winners correct. Yes, I did pick the Panthers over my Boys, but I just didn't think QC could perform in the post-season. I'm very optimistic about next season, but Parcells needs a veteran QB (Brunell?) and a RB (either through the draft (Kevin Jones) or FA route (Staley)) to give the offense the lift it needs to become a legit contender. The defense is two key players away from total domination. They need a premier pass rushing DE (enter Kearse, but I don't see Tennessee letting him go) and another shut down CB (Charles Woodson maybe?). I say throw the money at Woodson or Champ Bailey, draft a DE and RB, and sign a veteran QB and RB and bye-bye Hambrick. Dallas is expected to be about $18-20 million under the cap when FA starts 1 March.

BTW, here were my feelings on the wild card games.

Tennesse 20, Baltimore 10 (actual score 20-17)
Carolina 16, Dallas 10 (actual score 29-10)
Green Bay 34, Seattle 17 (actual score 33-27)
Indianapolis 27, Denver 23 (actual score 41-10)

So, without knowing possible injuries, etc, here is my forecast for the divisional games.

Carolina @ St Louis...the dome noise will affect Carolina...the Rams can be scored on but Delhomme is shaky...Davis should run...but so will Faulk...Bulger might struggle early, but the WR speed will be the difference...Carolina might sneak it out, but I say Rams win...23-17.

Tennessee @ New England...the Titans are a dynamic club led by the most inspirational player in the league, McNair...that said, the Pats are a strange club...no stand out players (well, Brady and Law are exceptional)...they have a great coach who is a great planner...the D plays as a complete unit...this Pats team is on a roll...the Titans feel they are the best...it will be close...Titans were my pre-season pick to win it all...I'm want to say upset, but...Pats win, 23-16.

Indianapolis @ Kansas City...Manning finally wins in playoffs...he is on a roll...this is his year...maybe...the Chiefs have a great offense and special teams...but the D is so soft, my old varsity high team could get a first down on them...this could be a shoot out and with Dungy planning the D side for Indy, I say Manning is one win away from laying claim to greatness...Indy roll...37-27.

Green Bay @ Philadelphia...possibly the worst 12-4 team to have home field in the NFC...this is like the 2000 NY Giants...an average team that benefitted from an average conference...Favre seems to have the magic on his side...I'm riding him now...and Green will run all over Philly...I see him going over 150, towards 200...but Philly might be able to run on GB too...the Philly crowd will be heard...McNabb performs well but Favre to steal the show...28-20.

Yeah...guess the label stays with the 95 Huskers...

I'm still shocked at how dominant they were then boom...the wheels come off...and this showing tonight...I'm actually rooting for LSU...I'm not a Sooner fan...never have been...just like the OU coach...think he'll be a fantastic NFL HC someday...maybe for the Dolphins... ;)

USC is the 'true' national champion...and only makes me wonder would they have turned the tables last season in a real playoff system? They were the hottest team the last two months of 2002...and could easily have given a great game to either Miami (of Florida) or Ohio State.

I don't know who has said that Nebraska of 95 were the greatest team ever. They were one of many great teams in the history of college football, but certainly not the greatest.

Agreed. 99 Noles or jimmy undefeated huricanes the year after they lost to pennstate still are the 2 best imo

Divisional Playoff recap (I was 2-2 this weekend)

Carolina 29, St Louis 23- Panthers played great game and 2OTs finally decided. Panthers remind me of 2001 Pats- somehow winning games. I think they will give Philly a good game next weekend.

New England 17, Tennessee 14- Patriot luck continues at home in playoffs. Somehow Drew Bennett dropped that pass on 4th down. He catches that pass and I believe the Titans win that game. Congrats to NE. Brady played good again.

Indianapolis 38, Kansas City 31- No defenses in this game but when it mattered, Indianapolis stepped up (the Indy D only gave up 24). Indy needs to get the ST in check next week. Peyton Manning is on a roll right now.

Philadelphia 20, Green Bay 17- Three things decided this game. 1) GB decides not to go for it on 4th and 1 (tried to get Philly offsides, took a delay of game, then punted into the end zone). 2) On 4th and 26, GB plays a soft cover scheme and Freddy Mitchell is wide open for a 29 yard gain (bad spot by refs, was first down though, refs gave extra 3 yards). This play should never have happened. Darren Sharper dropped back as pass was in air, when he should have been moving to ball. If he does, he hits Mitchell about 2 yards shy of first down. Game over. But, momentum to Eagles, GB defense chokes and Philly goes on to force OT. 3) Favre heaves up an air ball about 40 yards after RB rushed wrong side and missed hand off. This reminded me of the mistakes Favre used to make about 9 years ago. Should have taken the sack or ran the ball or threw to the side. The interception was returned about 35 yards or so and the drained Packers D could not stop Philly. Luck win.

So, my picks for the conference championship games.

AFC- Indianapolis at New England.
Mastermind HC Bill Belichick will have a great game plan drawn up. The NE defense plays great in these games. The offense needs to run the ball. Indy defense has holes and can be run and passed on. The Indy ST coverage unit has many lapses. Manning is on fire, so is the receiver and running corps of Indy. Defense wins out in these one sided contests...not this time. Manning is on a mission. Indy win 27-24.

NFC- Carolina at Philadelphia.
This should be no contest. But Philly is perhaps the worst 12-4 team in NFL history. They should not be in this game. But they are and McNabb should be enough to win this game. Carolina will be all over the Philly OL. This should be low scoring and weather may be a major factor. Can Delhomme play a good game and not make mistakes with the pressure? I think he can, but I think Philly's defense will make some plays. I want Carolina to win this game, heart says take the underdog, but reality says take the home team. Philly 16-13.

BTW, Indianapolis will win the Super Bowl is my gut instinct.

Brady and the NE offense should put up some points and the NE defense will make enough stops to win the game and probably force a turnover or two. Indy is not facing the Denver or KC defense any longer and any bad weather will be in NE's favor. Can't play any better than Manning has the past two weeks, but I don't know if anyone can do that three weeks in a row and that's what it will take.

Panthers have played everyone close all year and the Philly game will be no exception. I'll take the Panthers in a surprise, but Philly could win it late.

In John Fox, Carolina has one of the better defensive minds in the game, and if anyone can stop Donovan McNabb and his cast of mediocrities, 'tis the Fox. I would also expect the Panthers to play almost error-free football. Close game, but I like the southerners in this one.

The most important factor in the other game is whether Old Man Winter decides to become the Patriots defensive coordinator. According to the weather folks, it appears that temperatures will be donw in the low teens by Thursday, with possible snow. Adverse weather will affect Indy more than the locals.
