Mods, promote this @HarryP guy. He can single-handedly carry the meltdowns for the summer transfer window on his shoulders if his record in this thread is anything to go by.

If the Glazers get into bed with Elliot, isn’t it possible they could lose the whole lot if they defaulted on repayments just like Milan?

I’m getting really stressed about this can’t sleep and just refreshing this thread twitter and going over all YouTube channels obsessing over every detail and yet there’s no news.

It’s vital we get an update tomorrow otherwise I will be furious and ready to explode with rage.
Man i hope this is tongue in cheek.

Normal redcafe posters and United fans have no control over this process. Whatever happens, will be. Large financial transactions often take months, so sit back, relax, and enjoy ETH in the meantime.

Glazers can upgrade the stadium for ~200m and Elliott became more serious about investing after looking at the books because they liked what they saw.

So there's a clear pathway for the Glazers to stay now. Previously it was thought they'd have to sell because they couldn't find a way to afford the upgrade of the stadium. Doesn't look to be the case anymore.
Yer a wizard Harry. So nobody else saw the books and thought, why not let a hedge fund get on with it and see how they can jointly finance it with the Glazers. Plus pay down the existing debt, or even add to it, without taking any dividends

Can’t see any way Glazers would have anything to do with Elliot. They would be indebted to the hilt.

Especially if they have billion pound offers from Ratcliffe and Qatar. They would surely make more money from a sale than they ever would holding onto United another twenty years?

After what happened at AC Milan the Glazers would be monumentally dumb to risk accepting investment from them but maybe they are just that dumb.

ld take full state ownership before the Glazers staying in power by getting into bed with a US Hedge Fund

Very little of the Glazers supposed stance makes sense. They make relatively little from Utd each year. Dividends of what £20m a year.

If they sold today £5bn they’d make a lot more money just by investing that money elsewhere. Football clubs are not good drivers of profit. The only way to make money is the capital growth by growing/improving the club.

Maybe if they held on for another 10-20 years it would be worth £8bn but then half of them would be dead.

Major story if you read the full article.

It's clear that Elliott Investments with the Glazers staying is the most likely outcome now.

This would be our worst nightmare whatever you might feel about Qatari owners

It bothers me that they always say that feedback will be in one week regardless of when they report it. It was “one week” a week ago and it’s “one week again” today.

Be consistent

Think he's assuming Elliott will win so anything bad for them would be indirectly bad for us.
With the silence after the bids it’s understandable… in a way it’s like any business sale the seller will usually act reluctant or indifferent

So, let me get this straight.

The Glazers are going to give away a percentage of the club to get 200m to invest.

Or

The Glazers are going to take a loan/financing from Elliot to get 200m to invest.

Either way, this suggests the Glazers effectively putting their own money (via shares or a loan) into the club.

Sure, that sounds like something they would do.

I’m worried about the Glazers staying

But accepting an offer from Elliott would mean The Glazers raising significant capital (thus also reducing their stake in the club meaning less of the pie in any future sale) and then putting that significant sum into United rather than pocketing it

Simply not in their nature and surely I don’t have to explain why. Expecting the Glazers to hand their own money over is like expecting a lion to look after your pet chicken

Then them staying to sell at a later date for more money relies on United’s success (which won’t happen if they stay) it relies on the club selling for the £5billion offered now plus the money they let go into capital investment, plus extra to account for the stake they sold, with no Qatar or Ineos next time

I could go on, but there’s so many reasons it’s a non-starter. They want a full sale for more money. If they stay, it’ll be because they get too greedy and the buyers get fecked off with them

That world record Broncos price won't be around for much longer

The name they had to get rid of was, for worse, so synonymous with the t3am that the “Commanders” immediately comes off sounding like the worst NFL team name in history.

True but it’s still less than the £5billion that the Glazers have been allegedly offered, so Uniteds sale would still be the world record after that sale

So, so weird seeing Adam Schefter tweets on this page. He's a great NFL journalist and gets just about every single exclusive because of his player relationships throughout the league. I pray the Glazers somehow see Dan Snyder getting a huge payday and just accept theirs as well.

Shame he's a Michigan alum/fan though.

It’s the caf. Anyone over 40 is geriatric and over 50s are planning their funerals already.

I don't get the posts on here actually thinking there might be a partial sale...or even no sale at all.

The...Glazers...have...to...sell...totally

The books are public. They are over leveraged and theres no way they can afford the debt anymore. No one is going to pay in for equity to essentially pay off bad debt. If they did they would be beyond stupid, and thats not even a great deal for the Glazers either! They would be giving up loads of equity for a future sale. Its done. They've finally squeezed too much out of the club. It's not possible.

Not quite sure what you don’t understand. An article about visa scams in Qatar was posted in a misleading context about Qatar’s treatment of migrants. I pointed out that the article was about criminality. People then started talking but “but what about the camps (which no longer exists)” or more ridiculously “well if the Qatari government cared they’d investigate and stop it” how else stevoc, how else, am I supposed to get the point across that crime & scams exists everywhere.

If you hold Qatar responsible & claim it doesn’t investigate crimes in its country then apply the same standard to every country.

Or just acknowledge that the post was posted in a misleading light and isn’t the stick you’re looking for to beat the state with.

That's precious, I'll leave it there as you obviously have no interest in a discussion on the matter beyond deflecting any questions about the appalling way many migrant workers are treated in Qatar.

but what about the camps (which no longer exists)

Yeah alright mate, sure they must be putting them all up in 4-5 star hotels these days.

Big Malc kept himself busy eh? When not indulging in shady business deals.

Have you ever wondered why people take up such work?

Would you leave your homeland and family for worse conditions and pay? Need of the day, mate.

In those circumstances, they would probably issue new shares rather than sell their existing stock. The proceeds of the sale of new shares would go to the club's coffers, rather than the Glazer Family's pockets (although I'm sure they'd negotiate to retain a portion of the proceeds from any minority investment for themselves - wouldn't you in their position?) The Glazer family would be diluting their equity and they'd have a new partner to keep happy (would probably spell the end of dividends and Elliott would likely insist on implementing various other controls), but they'd potentially get a newly refurbished stadium and training ground out of it (plus perhaps some of the debt paid down), enhancing the value of the club in the process.

I don't think this is a very likely outcome, but it is a possible one.

It is because a lot of them (possibly most) are lied to and mislead about how much they'll actually be making and what sort of work they'll be doing?

Here's a good recent video with some first hand stories from guys who worked in Qatar and their experiences.

Been said plenty of times before but the Glazers will not sell part of the club to reinvest. It's fundamentally impossible. The 4 Glazers who want out are not going to sell part or all of their shares only to not then pocket the money.

No way is it most - the vast majority are likely to get exactly the kind of work they were expecting which is better conditions and pay than whatever they get in their own country

Obviously out of hundreds of thousands you'll find some sad stories of people trafficking, lies, poor conditions etc - I don't see any evidence that this is the norm though

You think these guys haven't seen the negative stories? Yet thousands still continue to head to Qatar in search of a better life and I have no doubt that the majority find exactly that
