Club Sale | It’s done!

I keep reading people being dismissive of the fan protest angle if the leeches stay but they've shown they are not impervious to the effects of organised fan protest with the Superleague debacle.

In addition, I think there was an article a couple of weeks back (linked in this very same thread, not sure if Guardian or Telegraph) that the Glazers have been advised against staying and warned of fan backlash.
Yes then you also get the briefs they dont give a toss what fans think. They are ultimately selling for financial reasons, not fan discontent. i still expect them to sell purely on that

If Sheikh Jassim gives them the exact figure they want, it will only have further ramifications down the line when it comes to negotiating any deals in the transfer market. Every club will try to take us to the cleaners more than they have done before.
To be fair, everybody knows this is a state bid for the club, so I think other clubs will know we are flush just like City and Newcastle. It’s going to happen regardless. Qatar tax on top of United tax.

that wishful thinking. The fans couldnt be bothered doing a walkout in the past, nothing will really change, just the usual posting Glazers Out on Twitter
The Glazers are dependent on fans. They were forced to spend big during the summer rather then go for Arnautovic precisely because of that. You might not have noticed but the club is losing money and that happened prior to interest rates skyrocketing.

But even if they aren't dependent on fans it makes zero sense for them not to sell. As said interest rates are at the roof, the club is losing money and the infrastructure can't be ignored anymore. On top of that Chelsea and Newcastle are spending/set to spend big making top 4 even more difficult than it is today. It makes full sense to leave now with 5b+ in the bank as much as it makes full sense posturing in a bid to try extract as much money as humanely possible

i agree with the 2nd part and said above they are selling mainly for financial reasons

So we all expecting a Qatar spokesperson statement at circa 9pm tonight? Simon Stone in his podcast believed this is the new deadline.

The fans got the biggest fixture of the season called off 2 years ago so that's utter nonsense.

They have gone too far this time to not go through with it. The atmosphere will be horrendous if they pull the plug now. Far worse than anything we've seen previously.

How do people still believe this shit? They've never put any money in! 17 years and they've invested nothing, all the money that's been spent on transfers is from revenue its nothing to do with the Glazers

That's how business works man.
They were hardly going to just ever just spend their own money during their tenure.

you said "Every game will be targeted for postponement next season until they sell up if this doesn't get resolved". thats wishful thinking

No, that's not how business 'works'. It's how the leeches run their businesses but if Qatar or even SJR get ahold of us, it'll be clear this false narrative will be exposed even to the most stubborn of you who insist on this bullshit.

It really isn't, i don't think you understand just how toxic old trafford will and can get.

It's only quiet now because the sale process has started.

Let’s keep our powder dry until 9pm (when the stock exchange closes) and see what happens.
If Jassim is going to bid, it will be right on the ‘deadline’. I think we will hear later today and minus the last 48hrs we will be back where we were on Wednesday.

Aaaah yes. The stock exchange excuse.

Even though money may be no object for the Sheikh, I don’t think he’ll ever meet the asking price of the Glazers. It will require the Glazers to lower their demands to some extent.

If Sheikh Jassim gives them the exact figure they want, it will only have further ramifications down the line when it comes to negotiating any deals in the transfer market. Every club will try to take us to the cleaners more than they have done before. You can’t be seen to just meet every demand from a seller. As much as he wants the club, he would have to draw the line somewhere.

I think we are past that now to be honest, that was more a Woody and Judge thing. We are obviously quiet happy to walk away from deals and try again the following year or not at all now. We also seem to chase a different kind of player, ones who don't need convincing with dollar signs.

I think this is possible correct

Think about it. Journalists live on reputation. The moment someone makes a huge gaffe then he falls a tier or two. Thus they make sure that their sources are as good and reliable as it gets. There's no way the people around Jassim (ie a man who came out of nowhere within the football circles) would have been able to build such trust in such little time. But that's not all. Its possible for either camp (either SJR or Jassim) to have been taken for a ride during the 'there is a bid, upps there is no bid' mess. But what are the chances that both camps had betrayed their own journalists at the same time? I'd say next to nothing.

And then it got me thinking. There was a time when we blamed our transfer sagas on the incompetence of our higher ups. That was until Woodward himself admitted that United actually collect the data generated by clicks (United related) to use it as proof on how attractive the club is for sponsors. Can you imagine how much fan engagement is this saga creating? Every single fan I know is invested into it.

i agree with the 2nd part and said above they are selling mainly for financial reasons

Of course they are. They are in it for the money. However they know that the financial situation at United is bad and they know that the fans can throw a spanner or two in it. The last thing the Glazers would want is for the situation to become so desperate that they'll have to admit that they are being forced to sell.

It’s simply a game of bluff and double bluff, by showing SJ and SJR the accounts, they not only showed the strength of the brand potential but all the debt and I don’t just mean the £680m but the debt owed for player transfers, if your good at selling players as well as buying them, you also receive amortised transfer fees to offset at least half of the fees going out yearly. It was recently reported the club owes over £300m at the net position.

An example of one of those payments are £13m per year on Maguire’s existing 2 years owed to Leicester which is frightening, it means we would have to sell him for £26m on a two year contract to wipe off that debt and hope united have not defaulted on any payments owed to other clubs. The player loan deals in January where the club scraped the bottom of the barrel shows just what a perilous cash position the club is in, the Glaziers even with new investment and new crippling high interest payments to service the debt would probably make the club bankrupt in 3-4 years under the new FFP sustainability rules and with having no friends in Uefa to help, just listen to Neville recent interview with president Alexander Cerefin to see what he thinks of them!

UEFA going after Barcelona is revenge and a warning. The Glaziers led by Joel and Avram have told the other 4 we can squeeze £6-7bn out of Qatar, providing we stick to our guns, we will use the media to to let them know we don’t want to sell unless we get £6bn, the truth is both SJR and SJ are too smart, crunched the numbers, realised that popular sentiment is with them and will send a moderate but still obscene bid but with certain caveats, stating that if this can’t be done this summer, the value starts to diminish due to more stringent FFP rules next summer and beyond and their bid would subsequently reduce.

The Maximum figure they are getting in this current financial climate is £5.3-5.6bn for their 69.5% of their shares, if they and the Raine group are smart, they should take 24 hours to sleep on it and then realise they, themselves have paid nothing and their Father leveraged the club on debt then finally do the honourable thing and ride off into the sunset with their billions.

I am starting to believe that there's no SJR camp journalists and Jassim journalists at all. All we have are journalists being given selective information by the Glazer camp to create tension and force prospective owners to rise their bid. Which is why both 'Jassim camp' journalists and 'SJR camp' journalists were caught with their pants down with this bid no bid mess.
Didnt every single journalist 'involved and itk' say they had both put in bids before the 9pm deadline, only to have to eat their own words after? They know feck all.

The fans wont allow the Glazers to stay past this season. Every game will be targeted for postponement next season until they sell up if this doesn't get resolved.

I see this said a lot, not saying this is you personally as I wouldn't know, but the majority of people saying that don't seem to be the types who go to matches or have any previous with protests.

In reality, I don't see it happening ever again unless something a lot more extreme than the Glazer's deciding not to sell happened. The backlash to the Liverpool postponement was court cases and financial punishments for the main culprits in getting it postponed. They won't be doing it again, nor will anyone else. People's lives are more important than sport.

We know so little about the process…

But I think SJR would at least be a visible/accessible owner…which isn’t that hard compared to the Glazers.

But it would take me a long time to accept being owned by a Middle East state.

SJR seems the best option now. Get rid of the Glazers and the added bonus of annoying the dopes on here who want a murderous regime in charge. Win-win

His statement about not spending silly money is expected and wise, but perhaps he's sillier than we thought and will make an offer they can't refuse...?

The Sheik has a mole in the Ratcliffe camp. Ratcliffe is going to offer £5.5bn and the Sheik will offer £5,500,000,001 a la Wenger.

Or Raine has set up mole situations and feed the various parties false information to bid the price up. 3D chess.

The fact that Jassim has waited for who he perceives to be his biggest competition, Ratty to submit before submitting his, means he has to win the race.

Exactly. What is the possibility of multiple sources getting it so wrong unless....there is one source ie the Glazers

Christ.

You mean like the government thought taking on the Unions, going well for us all that one.

Well no, it's more akin to the government deciding to allow the cost of living crisis to happen while giving tax breaks to their friends and increasing the cost of energy and everything else and the regular people just taking it and talking about how to adapt to the new normal rather than protesting to any meaningful degree

I doubt it. I think Keegan was 100% getting fed info from the Qatari bid, was caught out when they didn't bid but said they did and now it actually trying to do his due diligence.

Kaveh was getting fed from both sides and just reported what he was told because he isn't very good either.

No actual journalism happening and everything is a press release from someone to gain advantage.

The thing for me is that we can't take anything reported on face value.

I used to think the same about Middle East then I realised how much I hate the last decade under the parasitic Glaziers, I think right now I’d even take Boris Johnson as our next Owner over those that saddled the club with debt as the world is about to go into a recession.

That's how business works man.
They were hardly going to just ever just spend their own money during their tenure.
Can you explain why they're the only owners in the league that haven't invested any money then?
Even if they just re-invested the club revenue back in that would be enough but its cost us over £1.5b just for the privilege of having them as owners because they keep taking money out
