Club Sale | It’s done!

I find it funny that there's talk of "oh the Glazers can't stay after this!" As though there'd be some sort of mass revolt. Barely anything would happen and they would carry on as usual sucking us dry. They will be very much aware that if the stay on then it'll be forgotten in a couple of weeks so where's the downside for them? They burn a few bridges but I reckon if they stay it'll be for good. Probably pass on what's left of the club to their 'heirs' eventually.
That's the spirit!

Not surprised Qatar have a mole in either the Raine or Ratcliffe camps or even both. These guys had the EU parliament on their payroll and when they got found out threatened the EU not to look too closely

Sorry for my ignorance on this, but say the bid is 5 billion quid, is that 5 billion just for the Glazer's shares? Or does that mean that they value the club at 5 billion and they are offering the Glazers 69% of that for the controlling stake?

The Glazers can only sell the shares they own, so both bids are for their 69% majority stake. The remaining 31% will have to be negotiated later with the other shareholders, which is what Sheikh Jassim is planning to do.

Depends. Usually I think that's the enterprise value and they will pay the Glazers their 69% of it.

Everything at United gets dragged out, why would we expect the sale of the club be any different?

I'm relaxed at the moment because there's nothing concrete being reported one way or another.

Thanks, but does that mean that these 5 billion figures are just for the Glazer's stake and then the will need to pay another billion or more to take up the rest of the shares should they want them? Or are the bids to the Glazers 69% of 5 billion?

That one. The remaining 31% can be purchased (from the stock exchange I think) to take the company private after the initial change of control.

I have a sneaky feeling there is one more big twist in this yet.

I think there’s a possibility of this being it and Jassim will pull the plug on the whole thing and it will be SJR or nothing.

Hope I am wrong.
before the rumours of bidders i thought it'd end up with an investor and the Glazers somehow staying in some capacity, i still think that might end up being the case

you mean you hope this will happen

you said from day one that you’re desperate for the club to be saddled with the Glazers and run into the ground

6bn pounds is an unrealistic demand. Man Utd are not worth two and half times Chelsea. That's just absurd.

That's not just your hope but every rival fan is praying for the same.

I agree with the twist but I fear it will go the other way. I’m expecting a Mic drop £6b bid from Jassim who will then tell them to get the feck out of his football club.

Hope I am wrong.

Either of these is fine. Jassim or JR will both do a better job than the Glazers.

The fans wont allow the Glazers to stay past this season. Every game will be targeted for postponement next season until they sell up if this doesn't get resolved. They have gone too far this time to not leave imo.

Still think they are playing the game anyway and trying to squeeze every last penny they can before selling.

I wish nothing but awful awful things on that family. Fecking parasites are everything that's wrong with this world. They only invested 330m. The club have paid for the rest so that 6bn doesn't belong to them in my eyes.

You mean like the government thought taking on the Unions, going well for us all that one.

Didn't Chelsea go for £4.25b?

Chelsea's figure was quoted with a guarantee of a billion being invested in the club, so you can already wipe a billion off the price they fed the press.

£2.5b for the club and the a promise of a £1.25b investment into the club including facilities over 10 years before dividends allowed.

Oh right. That's odd.

Chelsea were sold under stress from the government. I believe the government set a deadline that the club had to be sold by.
There is no stress from any entity for the United sale, hence why Glazers are relaxed and just letting the bids go higher and higher.

The Glazers had been searching and failing to find someone willing to buy a minority stake since the summer. Apollo was contacted and that lead to nowhere. Don't tell me that the likes of Elliott wouldn't know about that and they would not have barged in if they were interested it.

The reality is very simple. United is a heavily indebted club whose losing money and need huge investment. The owners don't want to put their hands in their pockets and interest rates are getting higher and won't go down anytime soon. Of course there will be plenty of posturing going on especially now since they have been forced to give extensions to Qatar/SJR thus exposing how desperate they are.

Simon Jordan gave his views on the takeover yesterday which was fairly interesting given he’s a businessman and once owned a football club.

Essentially said these deadlines are non binding and simply are part of a timeline for the ideal completion of any deal. Ultimately the process will last as long as it takes and no one will be excluded based on missing some kind of deadline, especially if they are willing to pay what the Glazers are looking for. He said this will go on as long as it takes for them to get what they want (in his opinion between 5-6bn)

He also suggested that Raine group are using the media to create tension in the bidding process in order to extract the best value possible for their clients. Obviously without any tension or perceived competition the process goes flat.

If you can listen to the Talk of the Devils podcast which I thought explained it quite well

I am starting to believe that there's no SJR camp journalists and Jassim journalists at all. All we have are journalists being given selective information by the Glazer camp to create tension and force prospective owners to rise their bid. Which is why both 'Jassim camp' journalists and 'SJR camp' journalists were caught with their pants down with this bid no bid mess.

that wishful thinking. The fans couldnt be bothered doing a walkout in the past, nothing will really change, just the usual posting Glazers Out on Twitter

For a sale of this stature it's actually moving at breakneck speed.

Things only seem slow because you're so invested in it.

All true, it’s arbitrary and business craft.

Don’t know why people compare this to the Chelsea situation which was completely different because of the Government intervention.

Not at all, people have their limits these have been crossed, thankfully everyone isn't resigned to i can't do anything some people genuinely care.

I keep reading people being dismissive of the fan protest angle if the leeches stay but they've shown they are not impervious to the effects of organised fan protest with the Superleague debacle.

In addition, I think there was an article a couple of weeks back (linked in this very same thread, not sure if Guardian or Telegraph) that the Glazers have been advised against staying and warned of fan backlash.

Let’s keep our powder dry until 9pm (when the stock exchange closes) and see what happens.
If Jassim is going to bid, it will be right on the ‘deadline’. I think we will hear later today and minus the last 48hrs we will be back where we were on Wednesday.

I think this is possible correct
