We are at page 666. Isn't it time for a worthy update?
The same people that watched us get destroyed from within by the arguably the greatest grift in football history? The same people that didn't breath a word about "the soul of football" when it was obvious to the world what those parasitic criminals were blatantly and overtly doing to the club? Serve me their tears cold please.
We are at page 666. Isn't it time for a worthy update?
.Let me tell you, then: Abu Dhabi, like Qatar, is ruled by a family based dictatorship which have built up wealth on the back of huge oil findings and a kafala system of exploiting and deceiving migrant workers devoid of citicen rights. Free speech and free press is banned by the City owners. Well aware of the short perspective of oil richness, they have started a diversification process aimed at transforming their money into other forms of wealth without having to relinquish power, give inhabitantsrights as citizens or stop persecuting and torturing their own people for political reasons. To succeed in that, they deemmit necessary to simultaneously invest in varius Western and international projects, and to make their oppressing dictatorship more palatable and attractive as business partners, they are investing in sports to make some people get used to them, others to defend them. This ploy has been used by most dictatorships since the early days of Rome, it’s not really very unusual as PR stunts for oppressors. Abu Dhabi has in fact been so succesfull with this project that now even people who hated them intensely for all sorts of reason, willuse them as a beacon for how Man United should be used similarily. Do you now see more of what political gain they get?
I’m sure you do not really believe they just do it for the fun and banter.
I hope the takeover doesn't disrupt the huge steps we've taken on the pitch. New owners may want to make big statement signings to flex their muscle and win over fans
ETH has done such great work in uniting the squad and instilling a team culture. I'd hate to see the new owner do a Chelsea and bring in 10 players on fcuk knows what money causing that to break apart.
We need new players of course and the best possible but never at the risk of the collective
I think you probably didn’t read the post that this was an answer to? I answered a question. I didn’t try to say anything about Middle Eastern or Western morals. I don’t even believe there is anything such as Middle Eastern or Western morals. I was answering a direct question about what political reasons City’s owners would have for their investment. If you’re going to insult my integrity (has me by the balls, eh?), it would be decent for you to try to read what I write and the context I’m writing it in, and don’t automatically cut everyone from the same cloth..
The irony in this post. The west who are saintly keep letting the middle Eastern blood money investments. Your media has you by the balls and not letting go easily.
Their importance has decreased, and the importance of the club’s history and heritage seems to have decreased alongside that…which, as you allude to, is unfortunate. They still matter, but unfortunately as United turned global their importance has decreased. Hopefully any new owner will engage with the locals in creating a sustainable fan model both suited to the local community but also to attract future fans (like it or not, that bit will probably gain more importance).
I already explained it. 76% of shares are listed on the stock exchange.
of the non listed shares, they own three quarters so are the biggest shareholder by far
this is how public companies work, most of the stock is owned by the public and a board is put it place to be the custodian of the company and protect the interests of the shareholders and company
Hence why Elon still controls Tesla with only 13% of the shares
I really don’t believe that you didn’t know this and I think you’re just pretending to play dumb
just please stop pestering me, and the others too, you’re being extremely disengenous here and everyone can see through it

So page 666 we need an update here and now I think.
Do you have a good realistic alternative to State ownership given our current situation?Their importance has decreased, and the importance of the club’s history and heritage seems to have decreased alongside that…which, as you allude to, is unfortunate.
In other words, the very thing that made United what it is in the first place, which provided the platform for that global fan base…is now casually disregarded in the hope of receiving the near infinite wealth of this state affiliated bid. The club’s own history stands in stark contrast to the very notion of state ownership, and yet many don’t seem to care that the club’s name will be sullied by the association if it comes to pass.
And if Jassim and SJR real supporters of the club, they will be on the Cafe and read this and update.
If they don't update anything, I don't want, as they're not true supporters like us on the Cafe!
Can you post article of any lgbt being stoned to death in Qatar ?
The difference is Boehly wasn't even a Chelsea fan, was he? Any United fan will know the progress that has been made -- and after last night I bet they won't change a thing, certainly on the footballing side incl Murtough.
The only person's job at risk maybe Arnold's. The new owner will want to put someone he trusts into the organisation to take care of his investment, whether his brother or someone else.
Ahhh what a post. I think you need to look hard at the west before making such posts. How do you think the British aquired all its wealth? I dont want to start this, all I will say is before accusing other countries of doing something, go make sure you have all the facts of what the Western countries did.
City owners have banned free press and free speech at Man City? Can you show me proof of this?
What political gain? Qatar already do more business with the Uk than you can imagine.
PLease go educate yourself on the political agreements with both countries before Qatar have even taken over a sporting project in this country.
The directors/board control a company, not the shareholders. A large shareholder with x% may do certain things sometimes (like call motions for vote, even appoint a director), but they cannot usually exercise direct control without >50%
Anybody but Qatar buying United and we’ll be in the same boat as now or worse. The off the pitch stuff is concerning but if we’re talking about the club being successful there’s no other bid that should even be considered
Qatar by a country mile for me
Yeah I'd hate to be in a situation like we are now, competing for four trophies...
I'd much rather we were more like PSG paying players a million a week and not competing in Europe.
Good post. I do wonder if sale agreed news will just be announced without warning one day.
A stadium that PSG don't even own and might be leaving? The idea that it's being owned by a state or owners worse than the Glazer's, who have cost the club more money than any other owners in the history of the sport and have also been incompetent (we still could have been successful in the last decade despite everything else if they were competent), is not the reality of our options. The poster was clearly talking about off field... the stadium and infrastructure.
First United fan I have seen who prefers Glazers to stay.

I literally said the Glazer's are incompetent and have taken money out of the club, what in that indicates I think it will improve? Will it definitely improve under some cnut who is lying about where his money is coming from? Probably, I'm just refuting the idea that Qatar is the only option and that everything else is going to be like now or worse.I dont get what PSG has anything to do with this?
IF IF IF.. But they were not competent... that is the point. The reality is we have spent over a 1bn in the last decade and have nothing to show for it.
We have one of the worst training grounds in the PL. Our stadium has is outdated with leaks and no big TV. Are you seriously saying keeping the Glazers this will all improve?

Wow, so you know so much about this guy to call him a Cnut... I mean if he is lying about the money, he wont get far in the bidding process. The Raine group will carry out extensive checks that the people bidding actually have money.
Just because you dont know where the money is coming from, does not mean they do not have it. Its pretty pathetic to call someone a cnut when you dont know nothing about them just because you dislike what country they are from.
The Glazer's and Jim Ratcliffe are also cnuts, all billionaires basically are cnuts. Is that OK?Wow, so you know so much about this guy to call him a Cnut... Except that the Glazers are billionaires that are looking to use us to get even richerThe Glazer's and Jim Ratcliffe are also cnuts, all billionaires basically are cnuts. Is that OK?
Except that the Glazers are billionaires that are looking to use us to get even richer
I guess soIsn't that what all billionaires do in every situation? Try to get richer?
They're all greedy cnuts.
From the confirmed interest so far, the Ineos bid.Do you have a good realistic alternative to State ownership given our current situation?
