Club Sale | It’s done!

Got to love how the family who carried out a hostile takeover of the club, loaded the club with debt and interest payments for the privilege, and sucked even more money out of the club every year in dividends, whilst overseeing the decay of the club and infrastructure, are sad because their feelings are hurt :(

The Qatari bid did throw shade at the Glazers mind. I did think that when reading it  Yet again this is great PR for that bid - as they’ve now pissed the Glazers off.

Why would it be a good thing for Qatar to piss the Glazers off then they want them to sell to Qatar ?

People assuming it's already done seem to be forgetting a few things. They'll be subject to a fit and proper test, proof of funds which given the possibility that it is really funded by the Qatari State doesn't make it a foregone conclusion at all.

And with the League currently involved in an investigation into what amounts to corruption with another ME State owning a club, plus the fact the initial refused to sanction the Saudi takeover of Newcastle, they're likely to be extra cautious with this one.

The scrutiny of any bid will be significant. The Qatari bid will likely be under even more than others, rightly or wrongly.

Confident they will have explored this before bidding tbh.

The offer to the glazers has nothing to do with the non-voting shares which the glazers do not own. It would be an additional cost. Which is, presumably, why Ineos are happy not to bother.

I agree which is why asking raine/glazers to buy them on the Qatari behalf is weird. One can't sell what he doesn't own

Yet they praise the food at the Etihad and how lucky Newcastle were to get bought by the Saudi's. Let's get it right they don't want Manchester United being bought by an oil rich owner. We are doing well at the moment and it's terrifies them how good we could become.
It's just paid PR pieces every once in awhile.

It's an odd situation to be relying on the Glazer's fragile ego and Qatar's inability to rein in it's own bombast to save the club from state sponsored oblivion.

It could also save the club from state sponsored oblivion if it results in the Glazers considering other bidders.

The 100 and 69 percent were a bit weird at first but it's worth remembering that these preliminary bids include minority stakes. So it does make sense that Ineos precised that it was for 69% of the club and the qataris mentioned 100% of the shared owned by the Glazer family.
Qatar statement was about "100% of the club", which I guess is their aim even if the current process isn't necessarily linked.

They probably can't understand any talk of "past" glories, as to them the current value is the highest ever, and that's all they care about.

The last week has entirely justified why I have become more ambivalent to the Glazers’ ownership of our clubs. They are parasitic leeches, who should have never been able to buy us in the manner they did, but we could have far worse owners. If Qatar buys us, we will have become everything we hate.

It’s sad to see many just pretending the Qatari regime isn’t what it is, and are suddenly willing to twerk for them if it means United being super charged financially once again. With the size United are now, you are very unlikely to find a super clean owner, but if the choice if between Radcliffe and Qatar then there would be no choice to be made. And Radcliffe is hypocritical, Brexit supporting prick.
Yeah, this summarises my thoughts on the matter too.

Quite a few twerkers in this thread! :)

There's nothing about thos whole thing that makes me feel anything other than... sad. Watershed moment for the club, might never be the same again.

It's 100% to buy out current owners, the Glazer family. And Raine is only taking care of the shares owned by the Glazer family, that's what bid is about.

I love how people in here keep tangling themselves up in strange made up scenarios and get irate about it.

Fact is, we will know when it's done.

Correction: they don't want United to be powerful.

I was thinking the same thing TBH. People just love to hate United, feck 'em!

Yeah, I'd imagine that they'll also be upset because news of us being sold will be big news even back in the States. Their reputation as a bunch of shitehawks won't really make the news back home so they can still swagger about as these kingpins who own the Buccaneers, whereas the press will pick up a press release that says "yeah, these guys have been awful" because we're a big focus for attention right now.

I’m sure they’ll get over it when they look at the $6b sitting in their bank accounts

Sprinkle a little bit of borderline racism in there at the end by the Irish geezer. He wants Ratcliffe a “local” owner (from London) as opposed to a “foreign” guy coming in. I wonder if that fan wants Utd to have all local players as well and a local manager rather than these foreign players we keep bringing over.
He's from Failsworth, but I get your point and tend to agree with pointing out the xenophobia!

It's a strange relationship the press have with United. They simultaneously want us to be brilliant and in crisis at the same time, as those are the two positions that maximise readership and interest.

Right, but I'm just saying what their only public statement has said. Their goal seems to be complete ownership.

His hope is the authorities block it. That’s the reason why his statement references it being an important time for football governance. Unfortunately for him I think Qatari influence beats his influence in the Tory party.
Qatari has gaz England can’t afford to snob, so you’re right. His influence means jack all.
Any way, I don’t think this billionaire will be good for the club anyway.

It's probably true for most but my point was that 69% and 100% were the same thing, they just phrased it differently. Initially people assumed that Ratcliffe was bringing someone else, including the Glazers.

I understand questioning connections to the state of Qatar. But what I don’t understand is why Ratcliffe’s red flags, both in his bid and history, are getting not only ignored but even spun into positives.

1) The debt. It’s debt that will be added to our existing debt even if it’s no longer under Man Utd name.

2) Ratcliff and INEOS have a history of breaking promises both to Nice FC and British society.

3) INEOS was accused of taking bribes in some fracking deal

4) They own Nice FC

5) The bid is pretty crappy and does not give any idea of a plan moving forward. Whereas the other bid mentions investing in the Men’s & Women’s team, developing the stadium and training ground.

6) The Qatari being a United fan is questioned, why I have no idea. But Ratcliffe being a season ticket holder at Chelsea and whose Chelsea bid proposal was more passionate is not questioned?

More probably to do with the fact they have Newcastle in the same league and the numerous of hurdles they would have had to skip to prove their separation.

can’t they disband newcastle and buy us? they’re a fairly nothingy club and the highlight of their year so far is getting into the final of the micky mouse cup.

Jim is being questioned and ripped to pieces on every single page man
Him previously owning exec facilities at Chelsea is mentioned on every page, his Chelsea bid mentioned often multiple times per page. Every single thing you’re claiming to be “ignored” is the exact opposite.

In most online polls he’s losing by between 70-80%. What World are you living in?

Yeah but take a look at all of those $100 bills, Joel. Take a really close look. Smell something strange, Avram? Something on your $100 bills? That's little specks of poop, Glazers. On every single one.

The final victory.

Man, the Glazers are a case study in how to make people hate you

The money is not his. Let’s be completely honest about this. If certain fans are happy to Qatar to take over, they at least need to be honest and accept we’re a state run club.

Quick @Chief123 jump in and get super aggressive about JP acting like a bee in a jar over the past few pages and not knowing what he’s talking about. :p

Why are you so aggressive? :D

But seriously, I remember it being mentioned that the Raine group was only working for the Glazer and APnews states that the qatari offer is to the Glazer family. And there is a logical conclusion that links all the figures.

Ha ha. I did point that out a few times myself, but got called aggressive, a teenager and best of all a bumble bee without wings stuck in a jar posting on a subject over multiple pages that I have done no research on nor have no clue about.

I think it’s only fair they come down equally hard on you.

Actually their statement said it was for 100% of Manchester United.
