Could we potentially just get the Glazers raising a big chunk of finance (secured on the club naturally) in order to upgrade OT and Carrington?
In theory yes, but who would be willing to invest a huge chunk of cash and not take control? would they want the Glazer's still controlling and draining? I doubt it... the money we are talking could be raised by a serious share issue, plenty of fans happy to waste money, but as an investor I think it will be all or nothing

God no I don't want loans. How about we have owners who don't need to do that.
Well I agree of course (as long as they're not too egregious on human rights).

My personal preference would be an upgrade of the existing stadium anyway - expand the south stand, upgrade facilities, make it more aesthetically put together. That presumably would be cheaper?

Rob Dawson ESPN: "Sources have told ESPN a full takeover is the most likely outcome, although the Glazer family will only accept an offer that would make United the most expensive sports club ever."

"Forbes' latest valuation puts United at £3.8bn ($4.59bn) but sources have told ESPN the Glazers believe they can attract offers in excess of £6bn ($7.25bn)."

"Sources close to the process have told ESPN that the statement issued on Tuesday was deliberately vague as to not weaken the Glazers' negotiating position."

So that'll be around £9bn in total if we include clearing the debt and also developing the stadium, training ground and the rest of the facilities.

NYSE closed today and half day tomorrow. No news before Monday :(

Manchester United took two years to purchase Jadon Sancho. We dont do anything quickly. I reckon between Christmas and End of Season which I realise is half a year but it all depends how much of the work has been going on behind the scenes already.

6bn is the valuation there not the amount they want

I’m trying hard to believe it’s not going to be an oil nation state buyer. Once United goes the way of City, it ceases to be my club.

Statements like the above are preposterous. If Dubai was to purchase us tomorrow, 90% of the fans would still continue being United fans. Heck, I'd be even more excited about us going forward. It's the same posturing you saw about boycotting the World Cup and look how that turned out.

The more I think about it the less I want the yanks or Ratcliffe. I hope for Dubai. We are going to get fleeced again with the other options.
Just spoke to a family member who works for a prominent bank in Dubai and is a United fan and he doubts they’ll do it because they’ve already borrowed shit loads.

Can't wait for the considering, preparing a bid, thinking about preparing a bid stage.
With this and the January transfer window, it's going to be a Muppets wet dream

And a large chunk of those fans would be the same people who dismiss any and all of City's success as not true since they needed oil money.

And the boycotting WC turned out...that people boycotted the world cup? There are plenty of people boycotting the world cup.

Sky have no shame, but this must be interview one of 5 in their tenure

It's a thinly veiled "we are selling"

I mean hopefully it’s a takeover but to answer your question - banks, venture capitalists, etc

I'd rather keep the Glazers than get Dubai. Or any state ownership for that matter.

I'm sure a chunk of fans would, if not cease supporting, certainly follow the club less actively. The World Cup is something fans look forward to, but missing one isn't that much of a biggie, it's incomparable to potentially losing the club you've supported for decades.

To compare buying a player to selling a football club is a bit of a strange one

Seems like Glazer siblings want $1b each. Bast*rds.

We need to compete with the elite. Middle East seems the way forward, unfortunately.

Like FSG?
I'm not sure FSG is a great comparison, they're a bit like the Glazers with Fergie. Lucked out on having (one of) the best managers around masking their issues.

That said, any buyer taking over United will look to profit from the purchase one way or another, so that's really not a stick to beat Jim with

Not enthusiastic about the potential owners

Ratcliffe seems like a blagger and won't much different to the Glazers but at least there won't be gross moral strings attached

Some American hedge fund comes in and buys us. Would probably be like Jim and the Glazers. That would probably have a worse effect on British football as it becomes more Americanised

Dubai or another oil rich nation buys us, we'd get a lot of investment but we'd be washing another kingdom's dodgy reputation.

It'll always be your club, our club. Just with owners you strongly disapprove of.

Why isn’t it a great comparison?

FSG have ran Liverpool like a business. They’ve also invested heavily in the stadium, facilities and structure of the club.

Klopp is a big part of the success, of course, but that’s the same with every top manager.

It seems everyone wants to lazily throw around the notion that INEOS will treat the club like a business and Ratcliffe makes decisions based on that rather than pure emotion as if that’s a terrible thing and ‘Glazers MKII’.

Your family member is wrong. Its been reported by a pretty reputable news outlet in the middle east that they are a serious contender and are thinking of a 10.6 billion dollar bid. Your family member is wrong.

I certainly understand this. But as a fab, I've had enough of the Glazer style running of the club. All I want is owners who will allow uus to unleash our potential. The Arabs have a decent record of this happening for their clubs.

Dubai, on the face of it, would be a little different. A lot of the western world already go their.

Hopefully this is one of your WUMs and not a genuine opinion….

Why is FSG being held like some shining light? How did they do pre-Klopp?

No one is holding them as a shining light.

The point is people are panicking that Ratcliffe would run United like a business. That’s exactly what FSG have done and they’ve had success.

Yeah no, letting rationale rule over emotion is the only way to run a club or business, the outcry over that notion is a bit ridiculous.

I'm not too knowledgeable about FSGs reign of Liverpool, but would you say it's generally been a success? Feels like a lot of Liverpool fans are equally happy they're about to sell, and Klopp's tenure aside, they've been pretty shit.

As bad as any new owners could be, let's remember that the rules were changed so nobody could ever buy a club in the same manner as the Glazers did.
