All Arab countries or groups are the same and supposed to be painted with the same exact brush don't you know? Extremist/moderate or otherwise

Why bring America into that? You can get after him without ripping on Americans?

Don't insult us Americans, we are a continent. I think you mean asking if he's from the country that has no real name.

I think I've upset some Americans. That wasn't my intention. In the rest of the world we have a stereotype of Americans being poor at Geography.

Unfortunately some of you guys have kind of doubled down on that. I really hope you're trolling me. Apologies if anyone was genuinely offended.

Tbh Ratcliffe is getting a lot of bad press from a lot of people who don't understand the most basic financial principles.

INEOS generates more than $60Bn of revenue each year and Ratcliffe would finance the deal by putting the purchase debt on their books, which they could easily pay off over a number of years without affecting the club.

Well besides having a parent company that bring in 60+ billion in revenue every year.

So basically nothing like.

We don’t even know anything about the bid yet in fairness, just some guessig by journos.

Which isn't that relevant for the simple reason that they don't 60 billion of disposable income. Their profits were around 2bn in 2021 and below 750m in 2020 and 2019. Chemical and Oil companies tend to have very large operating expenses.

Manchester United as a legitimate club, and football in general, dies if the Qataris get their hands on it.

All the weirdos salivating at the prospect of becoming a Sharia state’s plaything should just go and support the Paris based Qatar Mercenaries FC directly.

United are on the right track now Woodward is gone and Ten Hag is building something special - the club doesn’t need blood money, just a bit of shrewd investment and the capacity to invest all its own revenues into regenerating it’s infrastructure.
Absolute rubbish.

From The Athletic on SJR.

Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s INEOS were the only potential bidder to publicly confirm their interest in buying the club ahead of Friday and they then submitted their bid before the deadline, claiming they would put the ‘Manchester back into Manchester United’.

“We have formally put ourselves into the process,” a spokesman for Ratcliffe confirmed to The Times last month. A key part of Ratcliffe’s bid is that anything borrowed to buy the club will be borne by Ineos rather than United, meaning there will be no new debt on their balance sheet.

Ratcliffe, a lifelong United fan, also made a late attempt to buy Chelsea last year. In addition to Nice, INEOS also owns FC Lausanne in Switzerland and Racing Club Abidjan of the Ivory Coast.

Ratcliffe is a petrochemicals billionaire and one of Britain’s richest people.

His INEOS company has annual revenues of $65billion (£54bn) and Ratcliffe’s own net worth is £6.1bn, according to the 2022 Sunday Times Rich List.

The 70-year-old hails from Oldham, Greater Manchester and told the Financial Times in October: “I’m a lifelong Manchester United fan. I was there in that most remarkable match in 1999 in Barcelona. That is deeply etched in my mind”.

Ratcliffe appears to be a hands-on owner.

“Jim is involved in all decisions,” one former Nice employee recently told The Athletic.

His younger brother Bob is too, running INEOS’ football operations.

We have a couple of reads about United’s potential new owners so feel free to make a cup of tea, find a comfy spot and get stuck in.

Now that's the kinda great PR Ratcliffe should have come up with

Not at all, there is no quote.

I’m not gonna ho full Trump on some nonsense “source says nothing note” in an article.

I’ll wait for an actual quote/statement from any bidder.
So you believe that they have made a bid (which comes from the same The Athletic btw) but you don't believe the quote in it. Interesting but whatever.

What I don’t know about is what happens if some day INEOS evict him from the board because they don’t share his passion for this huge club draining their profits. They need something back from United right? It won’t be for free.

If Radcliffe is not paying off the debt and also getting a loan to buy us (so will take money out the club to pay off his loan) then it’s an awful option.
Ofcourse they will buy through loan, there isn't a capitalistic company in the world that will stump up 5b cash for a football club, it's not the way they operate. And you can be sure a private company will be looking for returns too.

Yeah, same here. Don't want Jim anywhere around the club

But you have no issue with whatever Qatar do as long as they are loaded?

What does that say about you?

You're happy to be bought to be used as a political tool for a country because thats exactly what will be happening?

Sad how sections of our fanbase can't see past all that oil money.

'Diversify the economy away from gas' so they're eventually going to take money out of the club, great where have I seen this before.
Thats not what hes saying. You really think the state of Qatar is going to live off the profits of united?

'Diversify the economy away from gas' so they're eventually going to take money out of the club, great where have I seen this before.

That's not really how they do it. They use their assets to enter new markets, as an example PSG was part of getting large shares of Accor.

Adam is going all out to be a martyr on this. Wasn’t the Athletic telling us ME wasn’t interested or it wanted minority shares? They’ve been a bit behind to have facts and insight

The Athletic have been shocking in their unbalanced reporting.

Well Ratcliffe's offer and everything surrounding it really sounds not very promising. Should have been pretty easy for him to get the fans on his side but he really has a weird way of not getting any excitement out of the fans from his proposal. Nothing on his plans for the squad, stadium and training facilities. Nothing on the existing debt.
Just a promise he won't put further debt on the club. Hardly the stuff of dreams.

Real shame as for the club the Qatar offer seems much more promising albeit quite obviously coming with a state ownership

The highest level of board they have is him and his 2 mates who own the entire thing between them (he has 66%)

Yeah screw all those people who died building their illegal world cup they bribed their way to host. Screw their blatant disregard for basic human rights. Our fans have suffered a few seasons in the Europa League. Oh the humanity.

It's sad just how quickly sportswashing works on people. No doubt you've been very critical of what's happened at City over the years.

We don't need ME money to be competitive. Manchester United being used as a political tool just doesn't sit right with me at all.

Isn't it hilarious how these lot are so quick to criticise and judge Ratcliffe over the smallest things but somehow all the Qatar human rights issues are unimportant to them. It's so predictably pathetic.

I don't even believe Ratcliffe is bidding for the club. Haven't heard him or INEOS say anything yet. :wenger:

Ratcliffe owns 2/3 of INEOS outright so I'm pretty sure others can't evict him like that.

If Qatar buy us then we should become unstoppable right? All that self-sponsorship on top of the billions we already generate.

How do people feel about this? I imagine it will get very boring very quickly...

It’s important to remember that City achieved what they did through cheating. Pure and simple. If we stick to the rules, we won’t be unstoppable. That’s what the rules which City broke for a decade were there for. Things will become significantly better off the pitch but we won’t be winning quadruples every year.

The Athletic have been shocking in their unbalanced reporting.

Is it unbalanced to assume, given City and Newcastle’s shady hierarchies, that this Qatari bid is actually tied to the state? I don’t think it’s unbalanced at all, rather investigative journalism.

Well yeah, confirmation is on reuters and many other reputable news site, none of which are claiming to have sources with inside info on the bud about Manchester being put back in Manchester United.

He isn't the youngest either so...

Ok let’s say I agree for a second, which means he’s submitted his bid but said nothing to fans waiting. Way to have his finger on the pulse, Qatar have said all the right things once their bud was submitted, when are we going to hear from JR?

I read the INEOS statement when they made a bid for Chelsea, again short on detail.

also partnering with Goldman Sachs, not a good outlook

Once again, SJR & INEOS have made no comment nor statements whatsoever.

Hold the feck off till they do.

Profits they have deliberately kept low by investing in sport.

They don't invest billions in sports, they have invested in relatively cheap ones. Nothing comparable to spending 5 to 6 billions in acquiring a sport entity and then not getting much out of it. Unless they decide to have United as a giant billboard for an under market value, that's a way to get your money back.

The idea football dies if we get taken over by a middle eastern country is such egoistical and hysterical nonsense. The soul of the sport died years and years ago, what’s happening now has been inevitable for ten plus years.

The power of money I suppose.

My issue is that I won't have any bragging rights against sugar daddied clubs. I don't use it but it's still nice to look down on some clubs.
