It’s going to be the Qatari’s, fine. I understand capitalism, and I’ve such a low opinion of the Glazers that I never expected anything other than the club being sold to the highest bidder. Should I, a lifelong Manchester United fan now be burdened with the issue of morality around continuing to support United? No.
What I don’t want to see going forward, is United winning silverware, the players, back room staff, and coaches celebrating on the pitch and then the inevitable photo op with the new owners which would be used as a token of the owners success, rather than the success of the club and the team. I’m a firm believer, the best ownersare the ones you don’t hear about, who operate in silence for the good of the club, not of their pockets.
That said, just as I thought after the World Cup in Qatar, hopefully there can be positives derived from this continued investment from Qatari, Saudi and other Gulf states in Western establishments and traditions, like United and the World Cup.
Hopefully we can continue to progress under Ten Hag and with the extra funds from a wealthy new owner, put them to use off the pitch by improving the infrastructure, bringing in the best in the World in terms of recruitment, data analysis, nutrition and whatever else is deemed necessary to gain the edge over our rivals.
