Hello all, lifelong red and first post here, hopefully its non controversial.
Lots of talk about Utd selling its soul, I disagree, arguably that happened when the club was bought out in 2005 in a leveraged deal which unfortunately went from being debt free to having huge debt loaded onto the club, simply, Utd cannot continue on under the current ownership model, and despite now having a great manager in Ten Hag, you suspect he will probably be undermined by those above him at some point.
So, as I see it, the prospective new owners from Qatar should be welcomed, certainly in the sense that they will be completely different regarding their priorities for the club than the current owners, morals and politics is for another thread, and an altogether different conversation, no one is perfect, but from the standpoint of what can they bring to the table it is simply huge, clearing all the debt, not taking dividends, investing in the local community, investing in the stadium, training facilities, and of course on the pitch, Utd have been a sleeping giant for far too long and this new ownership model would elevate the club to an altogether new level, as a fan, that is surely the ideal scenario, the soul of the club is irrevocable, its still Manchester United with all its history intact, its still a global and iconic club and its bigger than any owners, past, present, and future, I for one will support the club, the team, and if owners come in with its very best interests at heart and apparently the Emir is a Utd fan himself, then that should be welcomed.
