Club Sale | It’s done!

What is he saying now?

Prospective buyers are being told by Raine that the Glazers don't necessarily want to sell the whole club. We knew that already though - Avram said it himself to a reporter in December.

Any prospective buyer will need to convince Avram and Joel to give up on the club - it seems the other four siblings are keen to go. Otherwise, it'll be a partial sale only.

Hopefully, the bidders (whoever they end up being) have deep pockets and a strong conviction to buy.

Under one condition.

Harry Maguire becomes the first man in space.

Never to return.
Enough of this nonsense. That is so harsh. What has Space ever done to you?

Knowing Maguire’s clumsiness, I can just imagine his slab head accidentally head butting a meteor and sending it hurtling towards Earth.

What would be the incentive for a partial investment?

Anyone preferring Qatar is a disgrace. May as well get some Russia gangsters in, or the fat lad in North Korea.

The Qataris are certified scum, like the Saudis and the rest of those self appointed leaders.
Nothing like a bit of racism masqueraded as moral outrage.

The Qatari royal family comes from the same tripe as I'm. It's the feeling that I wanted before the most to feel a real connection between us and man united. couldn't be happier about this bid and I'm sure the future is bright. The Qatari's don't dither, be stingy or come short in their investment at any establishment. United will be taking care of to shine like the old days.

From Joel and Avram's perspective, it allows them to stay at the club - they'd presumably be hopeful of an even bigger payday further down the road if (together with the help of their new co-owners) the value of the club can be grown through infrastructure investment etc.

For a prospective minority investor, the only attraction would be if, a) it was a staging post, with a clear path to full ownership further down the road or, b) in the case of private equity, if they thought they could sell their share in 5-10 years for a profit (again, by growing the value of business in the interim). Partnering up with Joel and Avram doesn't sound like a very attractive proposition, but stranger things have happened.

But we know that's not true. We tried to buy every title since Fergie has went and have failed miserable, who actually cares what anyone says, they said the same crap when we were buying premier League.

Even the net spend graph didn't seem to change that same accusation that we outspent everyone.
So then surely based on that what we need is competence, not cash.

Thank you.

For me, they will sell. Still not seen a viable option of where they remain at the club and get the investment they want.

That exactly what we need.

My point is, I'm not going to stop supporting the club because of the owners. If they let the club run itself the way it should, and they aren't that relevant to club support at all.

Obviously would prefer owners who aren't ME and years behind the times, but not going to just ditch the club because they bought them. Their is no perfect billionaire out there who can realistically afford us.

Seen even Elon musk name fired in, and going by his antics this last while wouldn't even fancy him. But again it's not the game changer for my support, just hopefully don't see or hear from them as much, and they don't let the Club deteriorate like the glazers did.

It's really quite simple for me:

Do I condone the behaviour of the owner at the company I work for? No.
Do I want to quit my job as a result? No.
If I work for him, have I lost my morals? No.
Am I going to try and influence him to live a good life? No.
Hotel? Trivago.

Well... the Scousers have always thought that Fergie had the refs and the English FA in his pocket too.

They seem to think everyone who isn't them has the refs on the payroll. Maybe they're paid out of a communal fund?

This is definitely relevant but you just know when it comes to us, we'll be measured by a different standard. Comes with the territory of being an actual big club.

Quite possibly. I hope so. Plus the situation with City could make them more cautious.

Thanks. Based on that I don't see the attraction for the prospective buyers/investors, certainly not for the Qataris.

We will could easily become a circus like PSG.

No amount of success in their lifetime is going to bring them more billions than outright selling the club now would.

Very difficult to see the Qataris being interested in a minority deal. I would have thought that this option would only really be palatable for a PE firm and even then they'd want controls in place and constraints on the remaining two Glazers (no dividends, seats on the board, say over key appointments etc).

Joel and Avram tried to buy the other siblings out last summer (via US PE firm Apollo), but it ultimately fell through.

Todd Boehly's consortium reportedly think that the value of Premier League clubs will reach £10bn within a decade. Perhaps Joel and Avram think the same.

I'll not miss the insistence we were "skint" every five minutes whilst hoping nobody noticed we literally spent like we had the runs and were shitting cash.

He's nowhere near the level of scum as the Qataris. Who has Musk had tortured? Who is he oppressing?

He says and does some ridiculous things, is clearly socially awkward and possibly insane.

He's only better when compared to the alternative. The best option is neither but the figures being quoted mean the pool is limited.

He's a garbage of a human being, and one that could be extremely harmful to the club. Musk is a grade A attention whore who's willing to do whatever it takes to keep the conversation going about him.

I don't like any of the proposed options but I'm not afraid that they might destroy the club. If a narcissist like Musk is in charge I'd be very worried.

Isn’t the reason the Glazers and FSG are both looking to sell up at the same time, that they fear the PL’s golden years in terms of revenue has plateaued, and that the Super League was vital for money to continue flowing?

Project Big Picture and the ESL were reportedly heavily driven by FSG and the Glazers. I believe that FSG are looking for minority investment or a strategic partner rather than a full sale, though? The Glazers' biggest problem is that the club has run out of money. They've drawn down the credit facilities, they owe £300m in outstanding transfer obligations and they need to refurbish/rebuild Carrington and Old Trafford. They've got no manoeuvrability in terms of finance because the acquisition debt is still sitting on the club's balance sheet, preventing any further borrowing for the infrastructure projects. Commercial revenues have plateaued since 2016. They are stuck and need investment or a full sale.

Nobody is going to take a partial stake and end up with non-voting shares. Plus the Glazers don’t have the money to retain an interest as the ‘club data room’ should show anyone doing due diligence the extent of the further investment needed in infrastructure.

The perfect storm.

Food for thought, if the PL lose against City, the Super Leagues back on the menu and that's something they can legitably buy.
This case will take years to unravel. Over 100 charges against City, won’t be sorted until Pep has long gone. Think the PL are likely to win at least some of the charges, but doubt the Super League will get support from PL clubs now after the last fiasco. It’s the other leagues that need the money.

I guess from a morally point of view being owned by Ratcliffe would have been the best option - until you learn that he has teamed up with some of the worst entities the US has to offer. Both Goldman Sachs and especially JP Morgan Chase has been destroying people's lives for centuries and represent the absolute dark side of capitalism.

Any news on your end?

Insider reports from the qatari media etc.

It's a bit funny how there's no reported interested in Liverpool from anyone, but you just know it that if the Qataris fail in their bid to buy us Liverpool will be their likely next target.

Thanks for your perspective Abdullah!

In my younger days I was working in the shipping industry and at that time we did a lot of business in the ME between 1990-2012 and I share that same experience as you regarding people/companies from that region. Most of the time we had our business meetings in Dubai and it’s easy to get impressed with what’s going on in Dubai/Doha/Abu Dhabi from an financial point of view. The amount of money that often is involved is hard to grasp but these economical resources often make them get very good results.
