The noises coming from Ratcliffe and his camp are positive, and the proposed appointments INEOS are looking to install are incredibly exciting, but I can't help but feel that all this excitement is soured with the Glazers still stinking up the place, ready to leech off any success we might have in the future.
I'm not saying I need them to be completely gone to enjoy being a United fan again, but it would certainly help. In reality I suppose I'm just a miserable bastard who will never be happy.

Am I right in thinking that a day only counts if he stays past midnight though ? Could in theory fly in and out the same day of a game .
We play 19 PL home games a year, he can be in attendance for 80%+ of those, though I suspect Brailsford will be the main man there every week.
Someone is bitter about this deal, snidy comments in every post.
Everything very positive so far and he's already committed to invest more into the club than the Glazers and has already put more energy into sending a good impression and getting to know the people personally than the Glazers have. What's not to like.

Heard consistently over 15 years or so that it’s particularly slow because the Glazers take days or weeks to sign anything off. Sir Jimmy will be right on it
I don't think anyone actually knows the answer to this.
We hope so, i.e. that glazers now are 100% hands off and literally have no day to day involvement, they just set a budget and then Ineos run everything. In reality, I am dubious. Glazers have drained the club for decades, I still think we'll see issues and clashes coming up between Ineos and them, with the Glazers knowing they hold ultimate control.
I’m not saying it’s going to be an issue. I’m sure he’ll have plenty of time for us. He does obviously have other responsibilities with INEOS, that’s all I’m saying. He won’t be able to devote 7 days a week to us but obviously he won’t need to.

I imagine we'll see him at key matches and the occasional staff review. Owners don't need to be overly involved if they find the right staff and can follow things up digitally.

The amount of publicity photo shots done and the Q&A session done with general club staff makes me believe he will eventually be the overwhelming majority owner of the club (at the very least) in the not too distant future.

Essentially this is the pre agreement in that the club cannot sack, sign or buy anybody for the sporting side of the club without INEOS giving it the go ahead.
Once the Premier league has ratified the deal, as per the terms of the deal Ratcliffe's party will have complete control of sporting decisions.

Don’t want him to become a Boehly type figure. I want him to be the man who no one can pull the wool over his eyes be it Blanc, Brailsford etc. He signs off on the vision and footballing objectives over short, medium , long term and agrees on the strategy and tactic to get there.
Then during scheduled meetings he holds everyone to account or gives people a pat on the back and raises the bar or makes sure they don’t get too comfortable.

Disagree with some of this.. Ultimately when ETH came on board, the transfer policy was in disarray. Shotgun approach with a twinkle of pixie dust at best. You had a part owner who refused to let Martial go despite Jose calling him out. He's still here after Jose / Ole / Ragnick and now ETH. You have a CEO who sanctions the purchase (not swap) of Sanchez. At the time he was on the decline at Arsenal, well documented as a loner in the dressing room and outside training and a questionable work ethic. The list is pretty much endless.
Regarding his purchases, that really is a double edged sword. I don't think we were privvy to what his targets have been e.g. MUST achieve top 4 / top 6 / cup etc. But if you got a squad that is made up of players going back to a number of previous managers and the owners are insisting that there must be some kind of silverware. What do you do in the absence of a coherent scouting / data analysis, you go with what you know and trust. I don't think anyone can be too critical of that because it's human nature. If it comes off, then no issue, unfortunately (I blame the lack of coherent structure above him) it didn't work in the case of Anthony.
I firmly believe he will flourish once the new structure is in place and he can just focus on the training pitch. Don't get me wrong he frustrates the crap out of me with some of his game management but I think he needs at least another season with a decent structure around him to excel.

Ratcliffe making himself a face of the club is wonderful. The fact he's talking to staff acknowledging how important this elite club is to the world of football, while admitting we're in a complete mess tells you he's determined to bring this club back to where it should be. He was a child when Munich happened. He was a teen when we won the European Cup, he saw us relegated, he saw us go 26 years without winning the league, he saw us win the Treble and make it 20. And most importantly, he saw how its been handled in the last decade or more. You telling me someone who has built himself up to be one of the richest men in Britain doesnt want his legacy to be taking Man United back to the top?
Agree with you. The proof will be in the pudding but he looks fully engaged and invested in this from what we are seeing and hearing.

He's clearly sharp, he likely wouldn't build an empire like he has without being so. He's certainly much more skilled than the inheritance children who currently own and run our club. I couldn't care less about how many matches he attends as long as he does right by our club.

He's paying what you call a control premium for the Class B shares. What's traded on the exchanges are the Class A shares, which have the same economic rights but 1/10th the voting rights of Class A shares. He's buying none of those.
Essentially having control over United in one form or another has a high intangible value that he is willing to pay (and others would have too). You wouldn't see this magnitude of control premium (> 50%) in most regular companies.

more co owners like the Glazers who take from the club and can’t be bothered to watch their team in the most illustrious football league in the world. Or someone who gives a S… and sets high standards and stands by his own convictions because after investing nearly £1.5 billion he wants to see with his own two eyes what’s being served up on the pitch, if sir Jim wants to get United fans on board, Come to the games, create a presence that quickly improves the club from top to bottom.
