Isn't this pretty un-ideal for them? If they wish to sell to Saudi money in a decade, they would have to face the new hurdle of Ratcliffe trying to buy their shares on the cheap no?
It would depend on how the option of first refusal is worded but for the most part it could just be SJR gets first refusal on matching any other bidder….ie I can’t see how a predetermined price would be put in an event which is uncertain re timing. Outside of “fair market value” of course. But I’m sure it’s first refusal in terms of at least matching any other offer…which still isn’t that bad for the Glazers.

In all honesty.....and hear me out here....why does Ratcliffe need FULL control if the Footballing matters are in his control?

The footballing matters is what us fans care about the most. It's clear the Glazers know what they;'re doing with the commercial side.

Arguably the footballing side of the football club is worth a lot more than just 25%, not sure what else he needs to control?
Because people just want to something moan about. Even if there was a path to full control the same posters would find something else to moan about.

Thank fukc something has finally happened. This abomination of a thread can now be closed. 2429 pages with 2400 being a handful of anti-Qatar woke zealots virtual signalling the same half a dozen points time and time and time again while slagging anyone with a different opinion, 24 about finance and 5 about football. Thank God it's no longer needed to quickly check for updates. It's over. What a glorious day.
Sad day for those who desperately wanted United to like City

The Glazers still have to agree, he can't do it autonomously.
Yes, and I also presume that after the original $300m that has the price locked in, any future investment will come with a different share price.

Also, I think I overstated the $300m giving him roughly 5%. That would be if he were buying it from the Glazers, whereas if they are issuing new shares then the total amount of shares will increase so it'll be a smaller percentage of the total.

Kieran Maguire said on SSN if the takeover is approved by the end of January he will be able to buy more shares which can be used to fund transfers.
So the glazers will forego the money they receive for selling their shares and use it instead, to fund transfers and invest back into the club? Hmmm. Doesn’t sold like them at all, does it?

$200 million now and another 100m by the end of 2024. Better than nothing but was hoping for a much larger investment by the end of 2024.

would you say more so than football? - also, based on what they've done elsewhere/previously - are you optimistic based on the challenges presented at United?

I'm glad to see someone else have control of the Football side of things. And even though Brailsford is a cheat, he is a sport specialist which I believe matter and Blanc is a sport executive that knows what he is doing both financially but also in terms of the organizational side of things.

And Football is I believe easier than the other sports they invested in, especially when you are involved with a massive Football club that generates enough for his own investments and has enough pull to attract most top level personnel. Things can turn around very quickly in Football if you take a handful of good decisions, one of the big issue with the Glazers and Woodward has been the indecisiveness which is likely the fruit of working with SAF, I mean we have fans who somehow believe that 6 managers in 10 years is a lot or too much.

People should remember that during the same period of time Bayern had 8 different managers(including interims), Real Madrid had 6 different and 7 in total, Juventus had 4 different and 5 in total. Both Milan team have had 10 different managers. Napoli have had 7 different managers. The point being that United are arguably the club that underachieved the most and one of the key issue is the club reluctance to change things quickly which as far as I know is not an issue for Ineos Sport.

He wouldn't be buying shares from the Glazers in that event. The club would be issuing new shares.

Thanks for the insight - and fully agree with your last two paragraphs, it is a point I've argued myself.

Hopefully things go right.

Well I'm happy enough for now anyway.

I'll be quite surprised if Ineos don't continue to Increase their holding within the next 2 years.

If I was to guess they'll be majority owners within 3 season.

I don't think the Glazers will ever sell 100% but once they become minority owners eventually then that would become irrelevant.

This stuck out to me. The Glazers have all but confirmed they don’t gift a feck about the football club, they just want their mucky stolen cash.

I suspect this isn't actually the case but merely how they chose to communicate it for whatever reason.

It will take time for any changes to be noticeable and I'm sure over the next few days more details will come out, but I'm delighted.Hopefully now some of the gloom around the club will be lifted for the first time in a decade it feels like we're finally getting our shit together.

Be interesting to see how the media are with us going forward, they've definitely been pro Ineos/Jim lately.

They needed investment in the club what are you talking about the well is dry

FFP is up our ass, the stadium is falling to bits, the debt is rising they had to act are you for real?

They aren’t cash rich they’ve put feck all into the club and it can’t sustain itself any longer hence selling shares

So what? They didn’t use any of their own money when they bought this club. They will never make a loss on it. They could sell for 3 billion or 7, it doesn’t matter. Either way it earns them billions of profit. And you would be naive to think the club’s value would suddenly crash if we finish 10th and can’t buy anyone due to FFP.

Indeed. As @Redjazz wrote above, this 12 month fiasco has concluded with a total non-event. Really disappointing.

It is basically just enough to keep things ticking over as is. Hopefully they are aggressive with reshaping the squad and reinvesting the leftover money back into the playing squad and backroom. Facilities and the stadium are also going to cost a fortune

He's not going to be voted out by the Glazers after he bought 25%. That's not how it works

He's a minority share holder, how exactly do you think it works?

I'm no expert but in the UK special resolutions, i.e. stopping fundamental changes to the company like changing it's name or using company cash to buy shares, require a 75%+ vote, but most decisions require a 50%+ vote.

It's likely that all this delay has been because both sides needed to define exactly how these things would work and what kind of decisions would require whose approval but there's no way the Glazers have just handed over control of the football team to a minority share holder in perpetuity with no way to regain control if it all goes (even more) pear shaped.

It’s not about ownership it’s about the management. With actual experienced people making decisions we will be so much better off, even if we aren’t the financial powerhouse of the oil giants. We will be back to spending big after a few years of proper management.

Will we ever see it officially confirmed that Joel will no longer have any power in football decisions?

Impossible to believe.

Has anyone seen the QPR documentary the four year plan? I envisage it will be like that. Brailsford picking the team, probably still start McTominay

Finally something happened. As long as we appoint proper football people in the CEO and DoF positions this is a huge win in my book even though the Glazers are staying on.
