They’ve been through multiple managers, signed a load of shit 33 year old+ PL rejects and are finishing mid table every season. They’ve had a good start this year no doubt but there’s a long way to go to overturn 3-4 years of shite in 10 games

You have to ask why he hasn’t invested to boost their chances of CL football? He shouldn’t need to spunk 500m into Nice to be in and around the top 4 in France just look at the clubs who got European spots last season

I’ll judge him when the season is over my money is on them failing and finishing in and around 7-8th yet again

I agree, this is still a concern.
It is possible that Jim just wants to play football manager and be seen as the man that turned around United, no matter the cost and the implications of keeping The Glazers in situ. You are right, if could be just like Elliot but with a new INEOS hired DoF.

It is possible the plan is for Jim to play football manager for 10+ years, boost the price of club towards the levels Joel and Avram expect it to be at, then sell to a nation state when Jim is dead and the club is worth $10+bil.

What about them appointing a young, promising sporting director and getting the manager said sporting director wanted in Farioli?

But I've already mentioned these things specifically to you before...won't stop you from returning and parroting the same old recycled nonsense again in the future, though.

There’s a lot of questions that need to be answered, primarily if this is part of a guaranteed takeover or just an investment. But if it’s true Blanc and Mitchell are going to replace Arnold and Murtough that is an enormous upgrade.

It’s crazy the club has been run by people who have failed time and time again without being sacked.

I think looking at what SJR has achieved at Niece is somewhat misleading and actually pointless. He’s not a sugar daddy type that is going to pump in billions to buy a trophy. He works realistically to the clubs budget and tries to make small improvements that will stabilise a club so they can kick on. Niece have made a very positive start to this season.

United are already a mammoth club with (legitimate) revenue others can only dream of.We’ve spent more than pretty much every other club in the world over the last decade. We need an owner that makes good decisions, hires the right people so that the club can be as successful as organically it can be. In our case that should be challenging for every honour! We’ve not missed money, we’ve missed good leadership this past decade. Let’s hope that changes with SJR- early rumours sound positive

They’ve started well. I mean 7 wins in 11 is hardly ground breaking but you can’t argue with their position.

But the season has a long way to go you can’t judge 4 years of ownership on 11 games I’ll go off their final standing which has been mid table since they took over
 
The noise coming out is positive but feck me people seriously are tyring to convince themselves the Nice project has been a success? Their league position right now is nice but they had four years of absolute averageness.

However, I think you can't draw real conclusions from his tenure there to how he would run United.

I showed these charts to you to show that PSG are a joke of a club.

They spend billions in a league where most teams have to sustain a positive net spend every season. They outspent Marseille, their closest challenger in terms of money spent on players, almost 5 times over, Nice more than 11 times over.

Their wage bill is bigger than their 4-5 closest rivals' combined.

And yet they've lost out on league titles to Montpellier, Monaco and Lille.

They've also succumbed to player power several times and built a toxic culture filled with drama queens.

They make illogical manager appointments and sackings on a yearly basis.

The way they bombed out of the CL by choking a comfortable lead several times.

They are literally the best football example of being stupid with money, but you've praised them several times in this thread.

The reality is that Ineos realized their mistakes after 3 years and have already adapted a much more sensible approach than PSG ever have in 12 years.

You are just blinded by blood money, thinking that a bottomless pit of cash is all you need to succeed in the Premier League. With their horrendous mismanagement, PSG would miss out on top 4 most seasons in England.

Thankfully, though, Manchester United are filthy rich, not state-owned and Ineos are about to appoint competent, footballing people in place of incompetent idiots.

They'll also have the club to themselves within a few years.

What's not to like?

I'm one of their biggest defenders on here but still never claimed that Nice has been a success, just correcting other posters who are trying to convince others (and themselves, if I had to guess) that it's been a failure.

There was an athletic article that gauged fan sentiment. One journalist / fan said that the club have put in some work to build for longer lasting success, and I'm guessing that doesn't get realized immediately.

At the very least it's clearly just alarmist nonsense to use Nice's results to illustrate the supposed mediocrity he will bring.

Nice isn't comparable to United in terms of...anything. The realistic ambitions of someone owning Nice are not comparable in the slightest to someone owning Manchester United.

I think they intend to keep Nice. If they won't run into any problems with UEFA regarding conflict of interest, or if they are able to get around such a potential issue, then my guess is that they are keeping the club.

No idea.

But as has been touched on in other threads (and this one), as per current UEFA rules, he/INEOS cannot be "influential" owners of two clubs that compete in the same competition.

Has there been any word on City's plan for Girona qualifying for the CL? Aren't they part of the the same ownership group?

Not seen anything, but yes - it's the same thing there: very hard to see how one and the same "entity" isn't an "influential" owner of both City and Girona.

ETA But then again, UEFA allowed both Leipzig and Salzburg in the CL (the Red Bull thing). They (Red Bull) shuffled upper management staff around a bit, removed people in certain positions, etc. And so - apparently - the "influential" aspect was...okay.

Feck knows. Bottom line: UEFA are obviously just as corrupt as you'd expect, so it's probably not a problem for either City/Girona or United/Nice.

This can't be an unknown factor for Jim/INEOS at any rate - they're obviously aware of it, and seemingly not very worried about it.
