I don’t think anyone can see that at all, we’re pretty clearly in the dark but INEOS are interested for one.

Makes sense in any situation for an owner to be open to multiple bidders.

INEOS are waiting for the price to come down. Obviously they can't outbid a state and they know it. If one openly turns up then they will win the bidding. If the state is smart they will buy through an intermediary and not pay the Glazer greed tax.

BREAKING NEWS
Nobody has a fecking clue what's going on and they're all just second guessing.

For the record. I don't think the club will be sold for anywhere near £5billion.

Tarring every American with the same brush I see. Niiiiiice.

…..& yet we have sections of the forum creaming themselves over Chelsea & posters claiming “theyre run smoothly”

Every American? Nah. The likes of which will bid for the club? Oh yes, I absolutely am tarring them with the same brush. I absolutely am generalizing because I think they are all the same. They are firmly at the bottom of my list of potential owners. Another American ownership is by far the worst thing that could happen, in my opinion.

I reckon it'll be a 3 way split between a Middle Eastern State, American Investment fund & then a wealthy individual who'll be the face of it all.

Definitely a possibility. I'm assuming you mean all debt (including monies owed for players) which I think is somewhere around £1.2 billion.
I don’t know how the player debt works to be honest, it wouldn’t shock me to hear that the split payments is helpful for both clubs with FFP so that may just be a case of putting it into the clubs coffers so it’s ready as and when.

Possibly so. I'd imagine you're right.

Out of interest, does Sir Jim have a history of partnering with any of the ME states? I’m wondering if a deal where we are partially financed by the likes of Qatar, with Ratcliffe being the “face” of the bid is a possibility.

If you’re fine just accepting it, that sounds very much like a you problem

Don’t have a problem with it at all, I actually admire you guys who stand up for your morals but how many who are so against ME ownership will actually walk away as they claim they will ? I’m guessing it’ll be hardly any but hey, what do I know, and given how the moral crusaders are so against Oil money propping up our club, where was the outrage when Saudi Telecom were partners with us ? Or is there a certain money amount threshold that needs to be crossed before it becomes abhorrent?

Agree. The price will have to come down

I am starting to believe there's no state interest. For sportswashing purposes you can achieve your goals without spending £4 or £5 billion. Newcastle cost a fraction of that.

All the talk about interest from the Middle East could easily be attempts to smoke out bids. Sources telling papers that X, Y and Z might get involved doesn't mean they actually will.

The global economy is going through a bit of a rough patch right now. There may not be the same wind behind owning a football club that there was even last year.

Even now we are only seeing talk of a US bid. Feels a long way from the Chelsea situation where you had the Ricketts family, Broughton and others running PR campaigns.

In actuality there may not be much serious interest besides Sir Jim. Maybe he's heard that around the City and that's what gave him the confidence to go public?

I'm wondering if the Glazers are pushing this US consortium angle to encourage other bidders to front up

we've heard it's the most likely outcome from a few sources but the only time a US fund got linked in the press, they instantly denied it

I reckon if there are US consortiums interested they don't want to come anywhere close to the Glazers valuation and neither does Ratcliffe

the Glazers are probably desperate for a couple of oil nations to bid against each other

Sigh, you’re just posting the same crap that’s been explained thousands of times then. Makes sense.

Which is why I don't think they'll buy us out right. But a £1.5bn investment for a 1/3 of the club, which then has the club turning up to the middle east once a season etc would be worth the money for them. Especially if they believe the value of the PL will rise in the years to come.

Correct ,Lots on here quoting blood money from the oil states ,whist your moral compass is in the right place the realities is how can we as individuals expected to react and not accept it at United if it strengthens our team ? They own in whole or part, for example HSBC, Jaguar Land Rover , Savoy Hotel ,Twitter, Uber, Snapchat, BP ,Shell, Harrods, The Shard building , Canary Wharf, Stake in the London Stock Exchange. London’s Ritz hotel , Sainsbury ,Barclays bank. Heathrow Airport, and Vodafone, McLaren to name a few.

Anyone can see the Glazers are just being greedy and asking for more than the club is worth commercially. Only a fool or a sportswasher would pay their valuation so they are holding out for one. If one doesn't come to the table they have to cut the price or not sell.
Yeah. Also suspect the 4-5bn is more like a hope for the best opening valuation. They hope a middle east owner takes the bait. It's just really high of a price if they are actually serious about selling.

The crazy part of the Chelsea deal was £1.5 billion had to be assured as spending on the club itself. Whereas we need 1.2 just to break even :wenger:

More Americans who wants to leach on the clubs blood.

I have no evidence to back this up but I feel like this is fake, just like the supposed sixth street interest. The Glazers have been looking for minority investment for years. Only now, during a potential sale process, are the Palace lads stepping forward? Smells off to me.

Feels like someone just trying to panic the potential buyer. Glazers acting like they may get the minority investment after all, so anyone who wants the club will have to make it worth their while.

I call BS.

It is basically an interest free loan from the selling club, that do not impact our performance vs the FFP rules (as long as you are solvent and pay your debts, they are all about earnings).

If we sign a player and agree to pay 50m over 5 years, it impacts our result the same way as if we would have agreed to pay 50m in cash right away.

From a cash flow perspective it can be more complicated though. But that should be manageable.

I know The Caf is a diverse board to read and post on, but still surprised that there is a large amount of people that would like to see a social institution like Manchester Utd to be owned by a state. We can win trophies and be self sustaining without that kind of ownership. Just a big club lacking leadership and direction. Please don't sully our legacy by getting into bed with owners that just see the club as a kind of vanity project. I would hope most people could see it for what it is.

Have you seen the latest numbers? The coffers are dry, this would have been true 10 years ago.

Not now, the level of competition and money owed by the club and on going costs of running the club have grown astronomically.

Are you suggesting Man City is just a vanity project, they have built and invested into this club and its surrounding area. When someone pumps in millions of pounds into something it’s not a vanity project. Unfortunately the cost of buying us needs someone who is willing to invest hugely and I think only ME owners have that sort of money and at the price quoted it’s not a vanity project.

Boehly is there to make money, everything else is secondary to that, and every American owner will be the same.

You can only assume where Chelsea is concerned that they are confident the super league thing isn't dead, or that a ME investor will let them flip their investment for a profit pretty quickly, because they seem to be in a hurry to spend the £1.5 blilion pledge.

The no dividends thing is for 10 years I believe.. at that point he will be stripping that club dry.

A new American bunch might not be too bad if they're as generous as that dim-witted bohely is.

The Everton owner is generous. Generosity is pointless if they're incompetent. Boehly already looks like another example of that. Hard no to any Americans. Middle East is by far the safest option imo. There's already examples of them running clubs effectively and their main goal isn't actually to make a profit, which means they're generally more willing to invest in their clubs. I don't know about Ratcliffe, different size and profile of club, but his time owning Nice would give me cause for concern and despite being wealthy he also probably wouldn't have the resources to inject much of his own money into the club. We seem to have major problems with FFP atm, so any owner coming in would probably need to be able to inject some sort of cash at least, not to mention the costs associated with rebuilding/renovating the stadium.

BS or not, twitter keyboard warriors, you better get your asses over there now. No mercy. Don't care if you have to doxx the entire management team.

Its the Caf; full of knee-jerkers (match-day thread) outrage fakers and virtue signallers.

I have no control over who buys the club so its pointless getting upset or outraged.

My only hope is that they are financially rich and that they arent expecting any short-term returns from the buy.

But at the prices being quoted -- at 4-6 billion quid, I just don't see how there are any worthwhile annual dividends that United can pay out in its current business model -- unless they know something we dont.

If the Americans buy United then something like a Super League must be looming in the horizon. Otherwise it makes no sense to buy United even at 4billion.
