doesn’t take a genius to workout how it pans out. Glazers remain in full control, limited investment, debt remains and united remain a cash cow for the leeches to line their pockets. That’s how a SJ R 25% bid works in the short/medium term. Don’t believe the glazer spin this week, they’ve played us all brilliantly again.
You think Sir jim will invest so much and not have any say? I totally understand your pessimism, but I’m not sure he’s pumping a billion+ in to not have any important say straight away.

Why would you have faith in a man that wants to keep the Glazers around.

He also is borrowing to purchase united. How is the billion debt going to be paid down, how are we going to fix Old Trafford? How are we going to modernise and expand Carrington with a man who has to borrow to buy a 25% stake?

This is before we even mention the squad that is 6 or 7 players short of competing with the arsenal's and city's of the world.

The whole thing is a disaster and we can look forward to another decade of nothingness like the last decade

As it 'appens, that was just a joke, based on that not so popular anymore tv show about that nice man called Jim who fixed things for people.

I don't know where the poster got 5-10yrs; most I've seen reported is majority control in as early as 1 yr and 100% in 3-6 yrs

He is borrowing to buy 25% of the club.

Where is going to get teh rest from in a year? And then have enough to spend 2 billion on the infrastructure, never mind investing in the team?

Direct your frustrations at Jassim then, he had pole position

I’ll direct my frustrations at the glazers and SJ R, the club would have been sold by now had he not got into bed with the glazers at 25%.

a bid of 5.5bn when the club is worth 2.5bn and clear the debt how can anyone express frustration at Jassim,

How much will SJ R pay for his 25%? My concern is the Glaziers could change their mind about a full sale. Why else would they turn down one now? That's my concern. That said, it's still better than the Glaziers being in complete control.

Because the Glazers believe that the club will be worth more in a few years if a few specific things happens. (Most likely primarily the Saudi involvement in football transforming European high-level football into a more profitable venture. Similar to PGA/LIV that happened in golf.)
But the club also depends on further investment happening now, so they need someone to come in now, even if there's a chance it'll all be worth more later.

I have intimate knowledge of another company (not football related) currently being sold in a similar situation.
The company is desperate for a cash injection, but current owners believe there is bigger value to the company based on certain things in motion. So the company is getting another investor essentially buying control of the company, but the final price to the current owners depend on if certain things pan out or not in the next year(s).

It would be 100% in 3-6 years and majority control in as little as 1 year. That's what's been reported.

How would that be possible? If he could afford it, he would have bought it outright. He couldn't, and therefore didn't, and so unless the valuation drops significantly, or INEOS gets a huge cash injection that the board is happy to throw at his ownership vanity project rather than making money, then it's just the status quo with slightly different wallpaper.

Hence my post earlier about having Ole Jimmy over a barrel. Cnut will will end up paying more than Jaseem would of.
But he couldn’t afford to buy the club outright now, or outbid Jassim full buyout offer. People believe he’ll have more in 3 years?

Those people probably believed Brexit would give the nhs an extra £350m per week.

Glazers holding a majority share with a 70 year old coming in with a long-term investment plan. Great. All uphill from here lads.

I don't get your point tbh. The Glazers would be agreeing to sell in three years if they accept the Ineos bid. I don't know how these kinds of deals work with regards to put options and guaranteed prices etc.
A put is something you do when you think the price of something will go down.

He did make an offer to buy 100% of the Glazers shares, so he's clearly got a chunk of cash he's willing to spend. I've seen others suggest that it's a problem of liquidity rather than wealth but I don't know the details of Ineos' finances

I mean sure, the fact that he's a competent businessman is no guarantee at all that everything is going to turn out well for the club.

What I'm saying is, I'd be absolutely staggered if Ratcliffe is "just giving the Glazers 1.5 billion to line their pockets with" like so many are claiming. I'm reasonably certain that INEOS will not be making this investment without assurances from the Glazers' end, and that's supported by news stories we're seeing about the offer.
Ah gotcha, that's a fair assumption to have especially with Ineos rather than a lone-bid.

Why do we instantly believe this report? There have been multiple seemingly decisive reports through this process that have given varying outcomes. This could just be posturing/ ultimatum to get to a decision. Fingers crossed anyway.

Is anyone else hoping this news really galvanises out season. Hoping the fans are loud and boisterous now we see an exit route and I hope the squad is also boosted by the news.

Going to be a potentially massive few weeks!

he’ll have 25% of a say. pretty simple if the glazers don’t like something then believe me they’ll have the final say. It’s how majority ownership works

But going by that logic, if Jassim hadn't gotten involved then glazers would've sold to ineos and we'd have new owners without the moral and political baggage.

Looks like this decade of mediocrity will continue for a while longer I guess.

I don't see much changing with INEOS and Ratcliffe if they win the bid and they sure as hell won't be clearing the debt.
If Ratcliffe recognises our need for a proper sporting director and more a focused recruitment approach then I see no reason why he can't make a success of it. The biggest problem of the last decade has been the Glazers putting their cronies in positions that should have been occupied by specialists.

Are you joking? You expect to see the fans get behind this?

That depends on a number of factors.

Yes we aren't becoming a sportswashing vehicle to the delight of some in here, however at what long term cost to the club.

I am absolutely certain the matchgoers won't boycott games and tourists not stay out of the Megastore either,so those leeches are just laughing in our faces.

A dark day for this club much like that one in 2005 when those leeches walked through the door and started the decline of this once great club.

I genuinely think we are finished whilst we have the three of them running us further into the ground.

Basically to sum it all up there is zero positives whatsoever to Ratcliffe's pathetic 25% share of the club. He will probably keep on the likes of Arnold & Murtough instead of at least putting the right people in place. Oh yeah and the debt not being cleared or investment in stadium and training ground either.

I wasn’t wrong, I never said Qatar would win I said they would bid £7- 7.2 billion to buy for 100% of the club and this has or will be proven very soon, but what I did say is that this will divide the fanbase more than any other decision and here we are Johnny smart asses want to feel Good about themselves that Ratcliffe will keep the Glazers in charge for at least another 3 years.

Let’s all have a f….party because the Goblins are going continue to destroy the club in the next three years. Some fans would support the club who ever owns them and I’m one of them.

I genuinely believe that INEOS has basically just made a very significant error, if he bought 51% the fans would have given him a chance, this deal will be the death of the club, the only positive is Paul Mitchel will be appointed as a sweetener in the next few weeks. And now he could go back in with a 51% without any objection as there is no rival bid?

I wanted to personally thank you for your contributions and explaining financial matters over the last x months. Although, this is not the clean break or result needed to get this club back to where it belongs in a shorter term basis.

Will you stick around for the next few weeks to see how things develop?

Once again living up to your name.

Yes now that we have the stability of knowing the glazers are here to stay we can focus on football

It's not 'a report'. It's a consistent brief across multiple media sources.

Qatar can potentially go back and bid £8bn but this is fantasy land thinking.

How can a situation going from bad to worse galvanise a season?
I mean look who you're quoting. That guy probably thinks Corbyn is a master politician and the good guys always win in the end  .

And I am ignoring the other Athletic tweet that the players + EtH were hoping for Qatar which is common sense for anyone with half a brain.

Wasn’t soft Brexit the option where you leave the EU but keep all the EU perks? So essentially a fantasy?
Does it matter? That's the world he thought would be better for the UK and he's been battered for it.

Posters should stick to critiquing his work in the footballing world. Im sure there's plenty to be upset about with Nice.
