Club Sale | It’s done!

Sorry, they won’t give a toss about protests. They are thicker skinned than a crocodile and will be oblivious to it in their US mansions. Like Putin the news is probably censored before it reaches them. A kick in their wallet hurts them much more than a kick in the balls in their world. But there’s not much us fans can do to change that. Utd will still make huge amounts of money unless sponsorship dries up.

In that case, maybe we need Crocodile Dundee?

I’m starting to turn into a pessimist regarding the sale, however it still doesn’t make much sense.

How are they going to fund rebuilding the stadium, it has to be done sooner or later.. how are they going to compete for their beloved top 4 when many of our rivals bending every rule to gain an advantage, while we’re here trying to sell players first before getting someone like Amrabat who’s around €28m?

If the money have ran out, and they didn’t take dividends the past two quarters I believe? Then surely someone advising them to sell, and not let the club rot while hoping the price will go up..
The big thing I worry about, and certainly one thing they could be considering - is stadium naming rights. I think they could easily raise a lot of money for a prestige brand to have OT associated with their name.

I am now at the point that Ratcliffe came in as the new main owner, I would probably take it. His record of running asporti g/football club is far from great as it stands, but there is no way that a man who is mainly responsible for organisation for £60 billion a year would have subordinates running the club like what we do.

If I read any leak saying that Ratcliffe has taken control with the two brothers but "has said you will get your valuation of £6 billion but believe me you 2 are absolutely going in a couple of years because you are effing useless" would surely get some degree of respect from people on this forum and other fans?

That said I still prefer the 92 Foundation because the club has slid so far down, it needs complete overhaul!

That's maybe not on INEOS only but the cycling team does have shades of squad building that are a little worrying. I just saw someone compare it to the Spurs !
At one point overloaded with potential GT winners... now strong overall, plenty of decent prospects and yet no real leader to contend in the big races despite being at the very top budget wise. Stumped by the Dutch Jumbo-Visma and team UAE with their star leaders and cast of galacticos super domestiques.

There's gossip of a fusion with the Soudal-Quick Step team which features Remco Evenepoel, a young and already very dominant rider (outside Grand Tours, he already won a Vuelta though) so maybe that's that.

Would generally agree with you, however he did call Greenwood to be dropped in his article on Saturday. Most of the time he's not accurate
I think the takeover is that because of the NDA’s in place noone really know what’s going on .

Thank you for the reply. Again I reiterate my ignorance on INEOS accomplishments in sport as I have not studied that closely. I am feeling quite drained and emotional by these seemingly never ending sagas related to United. I would take any type of change at the moment. Firstly, it would be nice to see some hostility towards this ownership, and with consistency.

I suppose the only thing is they haven't actually come out and said they're staying yet. I'm sure if the process was over they'd have done that.

people always talk and speculate, I don’t think nda’s do much to prevent that in these situations

they won’t talk publicly of course and only off the record, but they’ll still talk

Yeah at least it would take their sign offs on transfers away which has been delaying things for the last god knows number of years

The major point in the Glazers ownership is that see the biggest club in the world as just another shopping centre, so their aim is to increase traffic and get the highest possible rent from the tenants.

When you put that as their actual mantra, then doubt whether their intent is to sell unless they see no future growth. In essence they are the diametrically opposed to any sporting club ownership, no interest in the game, no feeling for the supporters and certainly no concern for the clubs history or performance as long as it costs them nothing in terms of financial input and the dividends continue.

If anyone can think of a worse corporate control then we will all be amazed. The Glazers are the equivalent of termites, they will eat away at the foundations until it’s likely to collapse, they will then seek a sentimental value and sell. In other words, Glazers Out.

No manager will succeed at the club until the Glazers leave. I know people like to point to money spent on transfers, and it’s a valid point, but standards come from the top.

Newcastle are a case in point. As soon as Mike Ashley left and the Saudis came in the whole ethos of the club changed. Even with only a few good transfer’s suddenly they are top 4 challengers and there’s a will to get even better and challenge for the title. There’s players from the Ashley era who have gone up a level or two, just by the change in attitude at the club.

Glazers on the other hand are fine with top 4 and marketing antics, and that culture shows on the pitch.

So true but how on earth does anyone convince Jassim to put up the necessary money for them to feck off back to Florida for good

Yea but we stopped hearing anything significant apart from "all bidders haven't heard back from glazers in a while". I mean if the bidders aren't hearing anything, there's nothing else to trickle down to us plebs either

I hate these feckers radio silence towards Jassim & Ratcliffe bids but it's no surprise

Fans should take the nuclear option to force a sale. Invade the pitch for a month. Getting every game abandoned, the club fined, whilst chanting Glazers out. Rooted to the bottom of the table, bathing in fines would chase the Glazers pretty fast....just a wicked thought....
Go on then

It's not a bad idea

For those proposing long term pitch invasions and delays of games and different kinds of radical protests - people are not ready to go that far. Why go to jail, have trouble with authorities/police for "just" a football club, even one as iconic and big as Manchester United.

If the country of United Kingdom(England) is OK with a British cultural/sporting institution like Manchester United to rot and be abused by a grotesque, wicked, pathologically greedy American family - there is nothing really we as common people could do about it without seriously getting in trouble with the law.

We are never going anywhere with the Glazers. I wrote a post about that yesterday on this thread. Even if Fergie, Pep and Klopp somehow joined, worked together and combined, used all of their knowledge, skill, charisma to try to bring United to former glories - they would still fail, because of the rot(disease) at the top of the club(Glazers).

If the change of ownership somehow happens, the club will suddenly be totally rejuvenated - very dark cloud lifted above it's head. Similar to post Mike Ashley's Newcastle(especially if Qatari's money/power starts flooding in).

Hope so mate. It's needed for sure.

Protests are likely futile considering the punitive measures being enacting into law. Protests are not exclusive to football matches, remember.

You are looking at serious jail time for repeated offences, and will most likely face lifetime bans from all stadiums, even qwhenever Qatar buy the club. Such supporters want the Glazers gone to bring back the 'good ol' days'. You can forget about any such martyrdom from them.

So true but how on earth does anyone convince Jassim to put up the necessary money for them to feck off back to Florida for good

Put simply: They don't.

Whenever Qatar bragged about 'clearing the debt, gentrifying Trafford and, in their case hypocritically, investing in the women's team, the Glazers knew they were good for it. It's a state bid but now they knew it was accessible.

In other words, they'll either dance to the Glazers tune, or go spit.

The big thing I worry about, and certainly one thing they could be considering - is stadium naming rights. I think they could easily raise a lot of money for a prestige brand to have OT associated with their name.

I'm not sure if Qatar will rename the stadium. I doubt it, because they'll want to be liked and pretend the club's history is precious to them, but they'll deck every other available optic with a Qatari State brand. Guaranteed.

The Glazers don't need to do these things as they can update the stadium gradually. Think of the new standing sections and enhanced exits. United have announced record sponsorship deals and can rely on such inanities as noodle partners. The Glazers won't sell the naming rights because they do not need to.

Getting a series of matches called off is the only thing that would force their hand. I for one will never spend another penny on the club if they stay

Naive.

You'll just get banned and they'll easily replace you.

I've seen a few messages imploring all
supporters to 'pull together' but, let's be honest, it is what comes next which matters.

Risking prison, losing our jobs or other punitive measures so some billionaire can own a football team?

Not worth it.

Ferguson under the Glazers was frankly awesome. Pep and Klopp could easily afford the players, and staff, they needed under the Glazers also.

It's quite galling you bemoan UK law letting a 'sporting institution rot', removing your 'right' to run riot and miss the point about United still being a serious moneymaking machine, announcing massive profit.

You then promote nufc, a front for Saudi Arabia, a dictatorship which would likely have you publicly executed for similar protests.

Perhaps. It'll never happen though - the aftermath of the Liverpool match protest has seen to that.

Peaceful protests outside OT that disrupt arrival of teams etc will not lead to people going to jail

...
Serious question though. If the entire fan body in a stadium stood on the pitch before kick off to peacefully protest. Long enough to force abandonment. Is it an arrestable offence in the U.K? Id genuinely like to know?

When was the last actual update on the sale? It was inevitable that the Glazers wouldn't go nicely. Take your £5.5 billion and feck off. Bunch of greedy parasites who has ruined one of the biggest football clubs in the world. As a collective United fans need to do more to oust them out, we are too placid to force change.

Yes.

You're talking thousands in a limited space (the pitch) which would immediately become a health and safety hazard. The police would have no choice but action (to disperse) whenever this protest gathered. It would be a massive failure.

Protesting in the stands or outside the ground just means they'll have the match without you, though the latter is better for optics.

Furthermore, any such protest is likely in the name of Qatar or Ineos. Qatar would throw you in jail (or much worse) if you did likewise around theirs, whereas Ineos would cheerily do business with similar.

They are not worth such sacrifice.

Yeah we desperately need to lift that dark cloud

How can you ‘force’ someone to sell something they do not wish to do so? I suppose a large group of United fans disrupting their lives might get a message across. But anything at Old Trafford they don’t give a shite about to be honest, it’s just their employees who get harassed and the Police. Then those who try to ‘force’ their point across get stadium bans and fines, whilst the Glazers sit at home in the US not caring.

The last actual update was 2.5 months ago, when Qatar submitted their fifth bid: https://www.skysports.com/football/...h-improved-bid-to-buy-club-from-glazer-family

Largely just media speculation since then, none of which has proven significant.

It would be reasonable to expect an update from the club on the strategic process within 12 months of the date of its inception (November 2022). Is the review continuing or has it concluded without a transaction/investment taking place? The latter looks more likely with each passing day, but I guess they'll let us know definitively at some point in the next two months.

It’s hard to remember a time when I’ve felt so low about the club. The drawn out future of the club and the lack of any kind of news regarding the sale or otherwise, the Greenwood cluster feck and just the general negativity that seems to be coming out the place is really darking me out man!

feck knows what that will feel like if the cnuts announce they’re staying, I genuinely might need therapy.

This is the lowest I've felt as a fan. Nothing to do with the team losing matches either. That happens. The ownership, the way everything is handled, the Greenwood situation seemed like an attempt to con the supporters. The club seems like a cash cow for every scumbag in the game. It's depressing as hell.
