Club Sale | It’s done!

There was never going to be a deadline for this. Manchester United is a giant of a club, as we’re all well aware.

The problem is that some fans here want the sale done and they want it done yesterday. I wanted it done the day it was announced they were exploring the sale.

But if it doesn’t happen until Xmas, so what? It will happen UNLESS the Glazers find a few billion in cash down the back of their sofa. Because they know they can’t afford to keep running things as they are.
first of all, lets stop acting like united fans are impatient in this situation. Id have to go back but this bidding process hasnt exactly just started. And second of all, the assumption that the glazers arent desperate leeches who are misguided fools that think there wont be some magically massive offer a year or two down the line and if they can just hold on and make it to that magical future date is not something i want to bank on. I can easily see them continuing to let things deteriorate without giving two fecks.

(a) it's not just Luckhurst
(b) for all his issues, he does have some club contacts
(c) it fits the known facts.

Not saying it's true, but let's be honest - most of us suspect it's not far off.
1. It’s a slow news day.

2. No-one in the British media has one idea what’s happening.

3. Profit?

Being serious, we all need to calm down and stop hanging onto every single tiny tweet from chancers like Steven Merchant and Lucky Luckhurst.

We might not get sold, sure. But also, we might get sold next week.

No one knows anything. None of us what’s truth and what’s BS. There isn’t any actual factual evidence anywhere right now to suggest we’re getting sold or the Glazers are staying. Nothing. Nada. Nowt.

I agree with every word you have written.

But I reiterate - none of us know what is actually happening behind the scenes. And that includes our god awful media.

The problem is luckhurst is a sports journalist. This sale is not a sporting related development it's a business one culminating from private equity ownership / acquisition. The bidders throughout this process are also under obligation to not disclose any information and likely face ramifications if they breach their agreement.

Hearing nothing is exactly what is expected. However silence in football circles is always interpreted to be something wrong or problematic, but when you assess the very nature of this process that's what is supposed to happen. You can guarantee that Murtough and likely even Richard Arnold have no idea what's going on they are employees and the owners their superiors. If the hierarchy of the club are out the loop how in the world would a sports journalist have anything credible.

Always get excited when I see new post here but it's always:

"Tut, ruddy bugggers"

Reasons why the sale is still happening or has been agreed.

Remember when multiple articles would release weekly to say who was leading and the rumoured prices offered. There were also planted articles about indecision among the siblings, If the glazers were holding out for more money, these shenanigans would still be happening.

They tried for minority investment before this process and didn’t get any interest, why would that change now, especially at the premium prices being quoted. They have never put money into the club, why would that change now. The minority figure they would receive for selling part of the would be minimal in the grand scheme of things and would do nothing to allow them to stay. If you were buying 10% of the club, would you trust the glazers to increase the worth of the club and your investment?

The club continue to amass debt including the revolving credit facility to buy players. It’s not sustainable and I don’t believe the glazers would’ve allow the money spent on transfers and minor stadium improvements if they had a plan to stay.

The interest to buy a non profit business at the quoted price isn’t there and is propped up by SJR who is apparently a Man Utd fan and a mega rich Qatari family/State backed bid that will move on to something else and won’t return if the glazers pull out now. It’s hard to see who else would be interested. Any American investment group would opt for a smaller club at a fraction of the price. The price is too high and the long term returns are too low.

It was so obvious nothing was going to happen.

These are the worst kind of American greed. They genuinely care nothing for the fans or club.

Chill out, Luckhurst isn't a financial journalist.
I'm chill, but it's been obvious for a while, Luckhurst or no Luckhurst. Nothing has happened for months, extra money for signings we apparently didn't have, upgrades to the stadium. Why would they be spending money on the stadium if the plan was to sell?

They seem to be able to keep the lights on at the club without having to sell, but obviously cannot afford a stadium rebuild or anything. However, I guarantee that now it's easier to make CL, now that Saudi are really entering football with their unlimited money, their head has been turned and they will wait it out at least a few more years if possible.

It really hasn't been obvious at all. You're just guesstimating because you haven't heard any news.

People have been criticising the potential of Qatari owners but look how the club is being run regarding the MG situation. Complete and utter disregard for any sense of decency there and why? Because of pure and utter contemptible capitalism.

The Glazers, F92 and Ineos are all bad options on the morality front.
No ethical consumption under capitalism etc...
The best that could happen is that the club is better run.

If true, Glazers are treading a fine line of getting hauled for Stock manipulation.

Absolute wastemen.

Imagine being given Man Utd and making this much of a fecking mess of it.

Wastemen.

They will be okay. Never said they were officially selling, only after 'strategic alternatives'. Would argue the team's doing better and such.

Probably use our profits to pay for any legal ramification, anyway.

Agreed there, and the Glazers have been proven to be incompetent for long long time now.

The United Muppetier man says Samuel Luckhurst's report is probably correct and goes as far as saying t he deal is probably "dead." There has been no communication whatsoever on either side INEOS or Sheikh Jassim.

It relates to what has already been said. They can see "an upside with revenue", with Chamipons League easier to qualify and more matches.

These pieces of crap just won't leave. He did say though he does not figure a way how to resolve the redevelopment of the stadium.

The Glazers never said they were selling the club.

Got to remember what the media told you and what was actually said.

They are definitely prepping to stay.

Like I say stop games , let’s get toxic seems the only way to get things done.

They definitely said they're considering options and if they did nothing, it'd look mighty sus

"Sources"

Surely by now we have learned these "sources" are more than likely the Amazon delivery guy or the cleaner. Nobody with any real insight has said anything substantial throughout the process. Even heavyweights like Reuters and Bloomberg have been had by this process.

It being quiet doesn't mean anything. All the noise happened in before pre season and as soon as the season build up started the stories died. Pretty obvious that the press were just firing out nonsense to get clicks while there wasn't any real footballing news and we lapped it up for the exact same reasons.

You've got to give it to them, they're stubborn feckers. Why they persist with United I'll never know but I enjoy the easy life. Some people are just a glutton for punishment and hanging onto United, when the rest of your family and the entire fanbase want you gone, is a form of masochism. I just don't see why they want to keep doing this song & dance. I'd take the money and run at that stage of my life but that's just me.

Looking forward to the day Jassim sends Richard Arnold and the rest of the Glazer cronies packing.

Important reminder today how deep the disease which is Glazer ownership has sunk into the heart of the club.

Hard to see where that £6bn+ bid is going to come from right now. He won't want to be ripped off but on the other hand also won't want the humiliation of losing out.

I hope they get sued for market manipulation.

Yep. The SEC shows no mercy for that crap in the US. I don't know what is the British equivalent to the SEC, but they better start working.

As for the Glazers, they are now entering Moe Greene territory instead of remaining in Jack Woltz territory (people who know The Godfather movies know what means in terms of problematic individuals).

Huge respect for anyone who still believes we are gonna be sold between November and 2024

It wouldn’t be redeveloped if they stayed and they won’t sell any meaningful shares to a minority investor, will only be if they want the cash flow for themselves.
Do we not keep hearing the same thing over and over again, surely if they plan to stay then they have to make a statement to alert the NYSE.

I still think it’s on

Clearly proven over the years that a boycott will not work and going to the match and protesting has more value, bizarre than anyone still peddles this idiotic myth

Whats clearly proven? did I miss the white paper or extensive reports on this subject? Also back up the second part of that sentence.
Show me the data

They can afford to keep running things as they are and that’s the problem.

They just can’t afford to develop the stadium, invest in the training ground, pay off the debt. Things they don’t actually have to do

Yeah feels we are well and truly fecked

Look at the way avram looks. A creep like him probably gets off on having abuse from millions of fans hurled at him.
