Club Sale | It’s done!

The potential buyers haven't materialised because everyone knows the Glazer's have underinvested for years.

If you knew a neighbour had always got in cheap dodgy workmen to patch his roof rather than do it properly....you'd be loathe to pay over the odds when he tries to sell it.

A lick of paint on rusted metal can't hide the huge amount of investment needed. We are actually lucky to have found 2 people who are still hanging around...many others would have moved on by now in the face of Glazer shenanigans.

Maybe part of the story, but its not like Chelsea have a state of the art stadium.

Nice analogy, but there a many houses to chose from. There is only a very small number of Premier League clubs that hit the market, and only on Manchester United.

The A class shareholders clearly believe so, and they have way more financial muscle than the Glazer’s. This has been discussed at length many pages back, but, in essence their argument is that the A and B class shares are of equal value. So, if the Glazer’s sell their shares for a premium way over market value , the A class shareholders believe they are entitled to the same offer. They also fear that if only the Glazer shares are sold the value of the A class shares will plummet.

Do they believe so? Or is it a hedgefund that is making the noise because their short term investment in United stock may not pan out as expected? We know there have been a handful of investment groups that have raised their holdings in the last year.

The story comes from one source - https://www.breakingviews.com/considered-view/man-united-takeover-drama-may-end-up-in-court/
and with no direct quotes.

They are not of equal value though. Class B has a much higher intrinsic value.

Would The Glazers have a legal claim if the hedgefund sold their class A shares for an inflated value? I would say not. So why the other way round?

Ineos want to buy a controlling stake. There is only one way to do this.

The B shares are not more valuable. Voting rights make no difference.

It’s been 14 pages since I last entered this thread. Genuinely forgot we were considering a sale.

I’ve accepted the parasites are staying.

More than one source. One hedge fund has published a letter sent to the Board. It’s so many pages back I can’t be bothered to look for it.

Chelsea wasn't bought by a person. It was bought by a consortium with backing from an investment group, of which there were many.

Who knows how many parties were involved, but it seems that it was way more that are interested in United. The $2 to $3bil valuation for Chelsea must have been seen as a much better proposition than United at $5 to 6bil.

So United are left with two bidders who dont want the club because they think it makes business sense (even though Jim says it does), they want it for a passion project or in the case of Qatar, a sports washing enterprise.

everyone knows who bought Chelsea mate, it doesn’t need pointing out

Boehly is the shot caller though, and he’s doing his best Ed Woodward impression so far which is wonderful as we can all agree

I think that is their plan, for everyone to forget the sale was ever mentioned

In fact, the rust is even more visible on some structures at Stamford Bridge than it is at Old Trafford.

Back on topic, I believe there has to be a way for the Premier League to intervene in order to get rid of the Glazers. If the NFL could do it by getting rid of that longstanding parasite named Dan Snyder, there has to be a way to kick the Glazers out.

The time for that has long gone. The FA should have stepped in to stop the leveraged buyout. If the fans then were wise to the Glazers' money games, then so were the FA.

It's a bit surprising that the Qataris and SJR are ok with how long this is taking. You'd think by now one of them would be telling the glazers to feck off.

Its an asset they want. They arent walking away because a decision is taking longer than they wanted.

They’ve not announced they’re walking away, but equally they may hold the opinion of ‘feck em’ toward the Glazers and be making plans to go elsewhere with short notice, so that they’re essentially leaving their offer on the table but ready to move on when it suits them.

As much as I despise the Glazers and would happily cherish their demise, there's nothing they've done to warrant any Premier League or wider intervention. The bills and wages are still being paid. The club is still functioning. United not signing Kane/Mbappe this summer is not a good enough reason.

The only action they could have taken was pre 2005 and installing a proper fit and proper persons test.

Good to see David Beckham having a say on the takeover, maybe, just maybe he might be involved with Qatar in some way but that's obviously just speculation.

Post a link to his 'say', else we're just playing games here.

What's this about the Boston Celtic's guy coming over the hill? Bollocks?
Exactly that just more BS spin by the Glazers, they are briefing the media they maybe interested in minority investment from Steve Pagliuca who also owns Atlanta and he would buy like 20% for £1.2bn, can’t see it, makes no sense for either party, they are trying everything to force Qatar to raise the bid, they are seriously holding out for £6bn, it’s that simple or they stay.

I literally forget that "sale" is in progress. I don't know how Jim and Jassim accept this circus. If i was them i would quit from this weeks ago.

Athletic interview, apparently.

But the only quotes I've seen come from the likes of the Mirror (not worth linking to).

He seems to say that the Glazers need to sell, and that he'd like some kind of role at United after a potential takeover.

We still have not found a RW who can cross as good as him.....

I'm of the conclusion that they are ok to be in this for the long game knowing that the Glazers want to sell. If not they would have announced no sale already. This will drag on for a while yet. I remember the Newcastle thing was like this too, i was on/off for ages and then suddenly it was boom and happened quite suddenly.

Wasn’t the Newcastle takeover delayed because of approval from the Premier League?

I don’t really keep track anymore. I’m resigned to them staying and the chaos that may ensue.

I may be wrong here but I think it was because of an issue with the pirating of Qatari owned BeIn sports, the Saudis had to prove that they were no longer doing that and with a little pressure from the uk government on the premier league it got done.

Yeah I remember that and hence it was a long wait until the Premier League signed off on it. That situation then isn’t comparable to ours.

I get that but it wouldn’t surprise me if the UK government put pressure on the premier league to get it ratified if SJ won the bid.

Yes at least in that case, it was fully clear that the club would be sold, and who the buyers would be.

In our case, we still don't know either of those.

Rumours that the geezer who owns Atalanta isn’t just flogging us Hojlund for £60m but also gonna aid the Glazers staying with investment…

A genius way to ensure that the player you sold doesn’t achieve too much at his new club!
