Club Sale | It’s done!

Just looked up some stats for everyone who is worried United will become some sort of "Man City 2" if Jassim manages to buy the club.

Man City got new owners in 2008.

Between 1880 and 2008 they won:

Premier League (or First Division): 2 times
FA Cup: 4 times
EFL Cup: 2 times
Community Shield: 3 times
Champions League: 0 times

After 2008 and the new ownership they´ve won:

Premier League (or First Division): 7 times
FA Cup: 3 times
EFL Cup: 6 times
Community Shield: 3 times
Champions League: 1 time

United though.. have won until today:

Premier League (or First Division): 20 times
FA Cup: 12 times
EFL Cup: 6 times
Community Shield: 21 times
Champions League: 3 times

What my point is?

City were NOTHING until they got the new owners.
They have BOUGHT every single title since 2008 with monopoly money.

United on the other hand. They are, perhaps, the most iconic club in the world who put themselves on the map with blood, sweat and tears.
NONE of the above titles has been won with any oil or state money. That is 100% geniune well-earned titles.

I get disgusted by the thought of us "becoming like City" just because we may get new rich owners.
We have already climbed the ladder from the bottom to the top without any fecking cheat codes.

I'm confident I can buy the club, the Glazers have spoken to me just as much as SJ and SJR

I'm sure this delay in getting the deal done and dusted all comes down to squeezing out every last dollar possible, but it's now starting to smell like the Glazers are trying to sabotage the club.

Maybe some Glazers want to sell to Ineos, some want to sell to SJ, some don't want to sell. Can't Reds in the US put some pressure on them in the States? Decide either way you bunch of silver spoonists. This is your Daddy's club. You didn't even have a hand in anything. Just inherited it.

I think they all agreed that sale to SJR is not possible because of the legal case raised by minority class a shareholders. Highly possible some value the club higher than the bid SJ put in and others are satisfied with the bid

Indeed, multiple bidders have remarked that they ‘don’t even know if the Glazers want to sell’, yet they’ve gotten this deep into it.

It’s at the point of getting embarrassing for them now - it’s clear they don’t even know what they want to do.

They’re appearing comical in front of the entire World.

I've read some articles regarding the relationship between the Glazers and the buccaneers fan base. The glazers are quite a mystery to them as they have almost 0 engagement to the fans. The glazers seems don't like to operate under the limelight like the Buss family.

Surely you don’t go into a selling process if you don’t agree on how you want to proceed with a sale/partial sale. They are currently missing out on more money through other investments, it’s not smart business to drag it out this long.

If the brothers want to stay, it can only work with Ineos having majority share with control of the club, does that really work for them?

Was initially against the Qatar ownership but after how long this has dragged out, I want the Glazers out. Would rather the Qatar bid if Ractliffe's keeps the Glazers there in any way shape or form.

And I guess does it make a difference if Qatar buys the club but if the club is run properly, that the club is self-sufficient and therefore doesn't require oil money to compete?

Do you guys not know how stocks market work? these "a bit of profit taking", "going up", "going down" happens everyday in stocks market. It's not a fecking indicator..

I was wondering why that meant anything about the sale.

A full sale would result in the Class A shares (the publicly traded ones on the NYSE) being sold to Qatar at a significant premium to what they've been trading at historically. So the increases in the share price over the last few weeks can be interpreted as the market believing the probability of a sale to Qatar has been increasing.

Don't put words in my mouth, especially when they're nonsense. You can be against state ownership and against the INEOS bid at the same time.

How are people so thick? The world doesn't operate in black and white, binary A and B. Sigh it's so tiresome.
Did INEOS say they won't clear the debt? Get a grip

Being born to Malcom Glazer?

They’ve wasted billions that if they’d spent more wisely they could now sell Utd for 10b.

They’re the equivalent of someone that gets given a Lamborghini, and can’t drive it properly, never cleans it or taxes it and has accumulated 10k in parking fines and now has to sell the Lambo or get ‘financial help’ to get it refurbished.

That’s all they’ve achieved, nothing more.

They’ve disgraced themselves on the global stage and are an embarrassment.

And yet they may be walking away with $5-6billion? As much as people hate them, they are playing this sale process out perfectly -- from their perspective. Only basically 2 bidders and yet they will be getting quite a lot over premium.

The longer this drags out, it is untenable for the Glazers to stay in any shape or form. This is also the reason why its quite obvious that Jassim's bid is the winner.

If that analogy were true, they've bought a Lamborghini, and sold the refurbished car at several times the cost price. That's amazing.
That’s all they’ve achieved, nothing more....
They've made more money than a family can spend in a generation from buying the Lamborghini. As a fan, I'm gutted, but well done to them.

That's market speculation and it happens all the time. Sometimes they're wrong, sometimes they're right. It shouldn't be used as an indicator if a club is about to get sold or not.

I didn't say they're right. I was explaining the link between price action and the sale process.

Can some people stop with the respect for the Glazer's and for the feat that they appear to be achieving... they've done nothing but run this great club into the ground....I despise them and I loathe the circumstances which allowed their father to acquire Utd...vulture capitalism... it's not very clever and it's not worth anyone's respect.

Mods i get that the funny thread titles are sort of a signature around the caf now. But that title really doesn't help us understand the latest update. I like to use the title as a guide to whats happening. Does it now mean that Qatar are being briefed as frontrunners? Or does it mean we are getting conflicting reports on who is leading
