Club Sale | It’s done!

Wasn’t it after Fergie retired…? Apologies if I’m remembering that wrong!

Going off the chart posted earlier the amount of debt was trending downwards until 2014. After which its increased almost year year since.

In 2014 post SAF we didn't qualify for the CL for the first time in 20 years and started spending way more on transfers than we ever did under Ferguson.

What a shocker this sale turned out to be in a typical Glazer fashion. They just couldn't leave gracefully at the very least.

No preferred bidder needs to be chosen as no exclusivity is going to exist this transaction is going straight to sold, it’s just since both parties have done due diligence, probably both done fit and proper directors test as well.

After an announcement there will still be a handover price fees of 8-12 weeks, the Glazers have achieved their objective, fecking the club as a leaving present, if they were staying they would have been all over transfers which they are not!

Do quotes for the annual “AGM” (next one tomorrow) ever leak on the same day?

Or is this one of those things where you don’t hear anything for weeks?

I want the AGM to end up like the future planning committee from In the Loop. Just loads of people blagging their way in.

Fully expecting a litany of let downs from the club in terms of ownership and ins/outs of the first team.

Was so hopeful in May but as things stand at the minute, its looking like a potential shitshow.

I just hope Erik doesnt fcuk off.

I think the problem is they still don't even know whether they want to leave, never mind who they want to sell to or for how much.

They are indecisive, dithering halfwits. It's defined the post-Ferguson era at this club. Everything we do is slow and ponderous. No clear plan. No strategy. Decisions made on a whim. It's all shit and it's all because of those disgusting old goblins

I think any shareholder can attend the AGM, though not sure if this particular one would be done on a conference call. If you own shares you'd likely have got an invite.

I would have to disagree. They’re never “all over transfers” - when did we last sign anyone in June? They’re incompetent

Transcripts are publicly available

Thanks both. I know United won’t give anything significant away, but I hope they’re at least pressed on things and feel the heat

What are the Twitter rumours I’ve see a few people comment on? What do I need to search for?

Seen a few people in here say that the sale is rumoured to be announced later. Yes, it’s 99.9% likely to be BS but I’m bored and want to find this stuff.

I was away at Glasto for the week. In that time Russia had an attempted revolt yet as is always with the Glazer’s they are not for turning

What an absolute farce this stuff really is.

When will we learn ?
Twitter rumours should be banned indefinitely from the thread
I suppose the Twitter stuff is good for a laugh !

Why bother? You’ll know the news when you know it. I wouldn’t waste much time on those leeches any longer and definitely not fake news.

I’ve almost lost interest at this point they’ve kicked us that many times and could just keep the club anyways.

Would not put it past the Glazers to not spend any money this window then finally sell when it closes.

I have no idea what you guys have been discussing the last 100 pages - seems like a fecking age since we've had any form of genuine news.

These last few pages have been torturous. Just utter guff about share prices with utterly zero actual knowledge of what any of it means.

There is also the risk of unintending consequences. If the Glazers over-signal in such a way that INEOS feels embarrassed or that there is no chance and publicly withdraws its offer to save face then there's nothing to stop Qatar pulling a reverse auction. They have to keep the jeapardy alive till the very end. Maybe I'm just rephrasing your point...

The Glazer purchase of the club was itself an unintended consequence of SAF's row over Rock of Gibraltor. Weird stuff can happen.

I agree about over-signaling...which is why I think we actually haven't had much leaked in general IMHO. There was a period a few months ago that there was a leak about a partial sale, but that was a total farce, and one of the bidders actually said so publicly. The reason there is crickets right now...IMHO...is that the term details are being hashed out at this point, and there is frankly nothing new to report...and likely already an agreed price so theres no need to leverage anything.

Ah well, came here for news... found feck all of note.

Have they been any good in their other businesses?
I'm not sure about their strip mall business and other ventures. In sports, the Bucs were shit for the longest time, then they signed Brady, Gronk, and a few other big players and won a Super Bowl, before going back to being shit.

Jesus fecking christ how long has it been since that Reuters report? Fecking grim

It’s sad the way one of the world’s greatest institutions has been made a mockery of.

It should be noted that while the Glazers have only further enhanced their negative image, I’ve also been left disappointed by the behaviour of both our bidders.

INEOS have simply made moves to help the glazers stay. The Qatari side have appeared amauterish at times with leaks that most likely have come from their side. The “congratulations” tweet comes to mind.

Then there’s been what most likely might be each side briefing against the other. I know it’s business and winning the fans over is part of it, but it still doesn’t sit right and seems like politicians trying to win votes to naive to realise that they are not in a democratic process.

Genuine question, I wonder if they fear for themselves when they go about their days, and if they have security with them most of the time.
