It's really funny because our spending with Man City has not been dissimilar.
That "bought success" narrative is tiresome. It doesn't apply to clubs that were already massive and had to fight with an arm tied behind our back. The only thing Jassim or Ratcliff do is untie us.

They said SJR has been the front runner, what was wrong in that? Since the last bid in April, the only one to up his bid is Jassim, which is a clear indication that SJR was a front runner.
The new bid came in last week and changed the landscape, still the club is not sold, so I dont get what the journalist have said is wrong?

Although I think people misunderstand EtH if they think he's somehow worried his potential success in 5 years could be tainted by actually having the resources which correspond to our club.

I think so, too, but we seem to be in a position where both bidders think they have won it, which means the Glazers' plan is to string them both along for as long as possible to the point of leading both sides to believe they have it - we must surely be nearing decision time now because this cannot go on much longer.

We're not Man City, mate. Even before the potential Saudi ownership, we're already spending about as much as FFP allows. I don't expect our transfer spending to increase much following the purchase. It can't.
What we will be able to do though, is renovate the stadium and training/youth set-up, and clear the debt. Which I'm sure we can all agree is a good thing.
It's about morality too. But having read through this thread, it's very clear most people don't care about that.
off the back of a decade of major success it would be odd if Man Utd werent breaking British Transfer records at the time. It was soon to be very much surpassed by Chelsea whom we still ended up getting the better of despite having the fraction of their resources.. You wont get that same feeling ever again now
Yes but we have been successful pre Glazers. Even though the Glazers have bee really bad, we still have spent money to try and be the best, sometimes a top tier manager comes along and you cant do anything about it, which is what Pep is.

- Neither of them were front runners but both of them were told that the decision hadn’t yet been made?
- Qatar were proactive and kept pushing the envelope.
- Ratcliffe was already at his (self imposed) financial limit and the best he could do was get creative with factors of minority ownership.
- The Glazers have always wanted a full sale and had no real interest in being minority owners under Ratcliffes control but Raine knew they could use the threat to leverage pressure on the
I have only one question for you and people who've raised a similar argument. Has this been your consistent thought process through the years? With Chelsea, City and Newcastle, did you honestly never raise the oil/blood money or bought the success questions?

People are so insecure about what rival fans think about us. How many were praising us under Fergie? Absolutely none. It was all bribes and money that brought our success back then.
One thing I'm looking forward to if Qatar do win is the cognitive dissonance of the virtue signallers when they have to follow through with their threats to stop watching.
Yes I want Jassim to win the bid like many others,however I also think it's important to understand the ones who feel conflicted. This has been a massive part of their lives so consideration for that is important.

Let's be honest though, had Chelsea not come in. We'd have signed essien and Robben and yeah it would have been fun as fans, but without Chelsea or City coming in We'd likely be the bayern Munich of the Premier league and have it far less competitive
