It's impossible to say for sure without access to information we simply are not privy to, along with having no knowledge of the motivations of each Glazer sibling. It is entirely possible that one or more of them want to make a clean break now and look at other investments that they feel offer a better return than what Ratcliffe is offering years down the road. We just don't know for sure.

My main takeaway here is the piece about lack of cohesion amongst the siblings. These poor suckers at Raine probably got more than they bargained for dealing with these muppets. Their payoff at the end will help ease the pain, no doubt.
For sure they are all quite frankly the worst business people ive ever heard of, of course it would be our luck we cross their paths

Who does briefing this information benefit the most?

I think it is a wash tbh, anyone who delves into the details of the article knows that the deal is incumbent on the Glazer's eventually being bought out in full which may allay some fears of those who are just allergic to the mere mention of their name.

Alternatively, it does paint a picture for SJ about what the bid entials and what he has to do to make his offer more acceptable.

The Glazer's aren't extracting anymore out of the deal now from SJ that they wouldn't get out of SJR down the line so I don't think they benefit from this being out there. But we don't know where the information has come from to begin with so its less than pointless to get as riled up as people on the previous couple pages were.

Yes, I'm saying that you'll find more Brexit supporters among the people supporting the Qatar bid. The vast majority won't be Brexiteers, of course, there are very few of them on the Caf.

Yes, of course I know that Ratcliffe wanted Brexit, everyone knows that.

I don't buy this take. Brexit was an inward act of self mutilation, all about 'taking back control' and 'england for the englanders.' Nothing to do with wealth or outward thinking. You'd require a) brexit supporters and b) our fans to be rational to establish causation. (of racist homophobic blabla supporting qatar because they share values)

The way I am reading this Financial Times story suggests, under the current Ratcliffe structure they are now reviewing, now all 6 of them have to be willing to not fully cash out now. Personally, I think that makes this outcome less likely when all 6 of them to agree to this sell down, rather than just Joel and Avram. It seems those two might not be as keen on holding onto all of their shares, huh? Painfully obvious that was Raine blowing smoke.

"Multiple people said the process, which was first announced in November last year, has been complicated by a lack of cohesion among the six Glazer siblings."

Do we have any reason to believe this lack of cohesion will end anytime soon? I still feel that once the Qataris hit the right number for a full takeover now, this will be put to rest.

It has to be said, the longer it drags out and the more fans are led to believe the chances of "Glazers Out" are decreasing, the more of a hero Jassim will appear to be if they "swoop in" complete the full takeover. We shall see.
Maybe the other 4 looked at the deal Jim was giving the other two and said we want some of that too. Maybe they weren't that desperate to leave immediately, to the point of saying no to guaranteed money.

I get the skepticism but these briefings could really be actual updates of development behind the scenes. Instead of just fake news and mind games.

Glazers staying isn't a big deal if the new owner has majority control + a pre agreement that they will be bought out at a set price over a number of years.
Exactly right. Doesn’t really matter if it’s 2 Glazers or all 6. The effect is the same and it’s a means to an end in terms of ridding our club of the parasites.

A question for anybody who knows, have Kevin, Bryan, Edward or Darcie ever actually had any input or effect on the running of the club in the last 18 years? Have they ever even been to a game or visited OT?
I think darcie and Edward have in the past. I know Darcie is amongst those who has utilised her shares the most. She took loans in the millions out against a % and also was named in an article as amongst those that used OT as an ATM.

Props to @DOTA and @L1nk for giving this news a bit of critical thought and not just flying off the handle.

Also, Nick Speed in the mud.
Thank you my friend. I don't mean to annoy anyone and i'm trying not to come across as biased in my posts because I would lean one way or another. Just reporting the facts without getting emotionally invested, it's just sad to see some of the huge amounts of hyperbole in this thread.

I can understand why people are upset, hell nobody I know, including me, wants the Glazers to be involved with the club in any way shape or form. But we really need to remember just how insipid and greedy this family are. I'm no fan of Ratcliffe and I have my concerns with him as a potential owner, but if the only way to get rid of the Glazers is to grease their palms a little bit and appeal to their ego I will support the man in doing so, if it means he gets control and he eventually buys the Glazers out of the club completely. From all the reports and everything we know about them up until this process happened, we know they don't really want to leave the club, I think Ratcliffe knows this, this genuinely might be the only way we can wrestle control from them.

Ok thanks, so two others have visited but aren’t necessarily as active in the running of the club as J&A.

It's completely emotional.

Yeah agreed, football is about emotion and we want these cnuts gone.

It's fine to think about it rationally if you're already dead set against the Qatari bid that you'd rather have the Glazers keep the club.

How is it any different than the previous offer of 50%+ controlling stake with two Glazers staying in for a couple of years?? Why is the meltdown for this?
It’s to be expected…have you not read much of the thread?

I have but didn't release they had lost all their ability for comprehension as well. Based on the reaction, for a second, even I thought SJR was only buying a minority stake. Then I actually read the tweet and the article... and

So we get the idiots of Nice and Lausanne including cyclist Dave 'Lasso' Brailsford meddling on football matters while still keeping the Glazers for god knows hooww much time? Wow no wonder they want the season to end before they get this mess in the open.

Again, complete uproar over a nothing burger, calling Ratcliffe a rat and just another Glazer. DOTA is right I think a load of you just are refusing to understand or see what's going on.

So basically, Ratcliffe/INEOS takes over control of the club and the Glazers get to keep a small stake of shares that will eventually be bought out by Ratcliffe/INEOS in order to own all the shares?

How is he "getting into bed with the Glazers" I don't know why you all think he actually wants to get into "bed with the Glazers" Why don't you use your brains and stop getting all emotional over nothing, this means the Glazers will lose control over the club and eventually be gone forever. It's clear as day they do not want to leave just yet and so this might be our only way of actually wrestling the club from their hands, did you ever think of that? For some reason you are all extremely salty and mad that the Glazers won't undersell to SJ.

My mind is blown by a lot of the stupidity in this thread tonight

Good post

Seems pretty clear that the Glazers dont want to sell it all unless they get a crazy offer (6 billion). So the choice would be between Glazers in control with minority investment or Jim in control with minority ownership from the Glazers.

You don't even have to be dead set against the Qatari bid, just need to dead set against the Glazers running the club. It seems Jassim doesn't want to meet the Glazer's asking price (for like what 6-7 months and not showing signs of doing it any time soon either?). So if he pulls out, do you want the Glazers to keep running the club with minority investments? At least, SJR is trying to find other ways to take control of the club and in a few years remove the Glazers completely.

There's place to be emotional, but don't be stupid because of your emotions.

It could just be the wording of the tweet, but it seem interesting that ‘Jim’s bid is seem as the more serious offer at this stage’ implying that Jassims bid isn’t seen as serious still. His bids relationship with Raine does appear broken.

What makes you think that SJR is better then the Glazers? There is nothing during his tenure at Nice or Lausanne that remotely suggest that they know what they are doing. They even hire cyclist guys to make audits on football clubs.

Also what makes you so confident that he will actually get the Glazers out? The man keeps lying to the football fans who are unlucky enough to be supporting one of his clubs.

These are people who seemingly just assume that the Qataris would’ve waltzed into full ownership had INEOS not been involved in the bidding process. When in actual fact the presence of INEOS propelled Jassim et al to offer more than they otherwise would have.

They also proceed on the premise that all the talk and rumours of disharmony and lack of cohesion amongst the Glazers, and more specifically that 2 of the siblings are reluctant to sell, is simply a ploy to drive the price up.
My mind is blown by a lot of the stupidity in this thread tonight
You shouldn’t be…it’s just the usual suspects.

Basically Jim will control club but pays less money to Glazers up front. That means more money to invest in club now.
So Ratcliffe's deal is that Ineos invests a load of money on infrastructure and players, whilst the Glazers invest nothing (we can be pretty sure of that) and then the Glazers get paid more for their shares because of Ratcliffe's spending?

Nah, Ratcliffe will spend the least he has to, he's twisting and turning up to the maximum he's worked out will most likely provide a profit. The Glazers will sell to the highest bidder, Qatar are just making sure of the benchmark, they'll take it.

So you want to keep the Glazers if Jassim pulls out?
And no, I don't know if SJR is better than the Glazers. Same as I don't know if Jassim, who has no experience running the club, is better than the Glazers. If you say you are certain either way both those situations, then you're just lying to yourself. All I can say is there's a good chance both of them will run the club better than the Glazers given what we've seen for however many years.

Honestly I'd rather have the devil I know than this charlatan who keeps tanking clubs. At least I am confident that they will eventually sell.

Seriously what have you seen at Nice or Lausanne that remotely suggest that Ineos know how to manage clubs better then the Glazers? Maybe it's the audit done by some cyclist guy which lead to favre being saddled by washed up EPL players he knew little to absolutely nothing about?

Qatar are far from perfect but at least they throw money to the problem. Ineos mismanage clubs while they concurrently maintain an obsession with sustainability
