Is this the current bid?

so in your conclusion For Glazers:
- walk-away right now offer is:
£3.45bn (SJ) vs £4.1bn (SJR)
- Maintain 51% with SJR, small stake with Joel etc & others cash out, 31% remains floated offer:
£2.9bn to all glazers right now + more in the future

Please correct me if I am wrong.

If I’m buying a house I don’t tell the seller my bid includes 25k worth of renovation work. The Qataris saying they’ve bid 7 billion dollars with a PS of it including a billion for the community is just bizarre. It is completely irrelevant to the process.

100% irrelevant but doesn't stop people slagging SJR for not disclosing his plans.

Close. It would be £2.9 to the four siblings minus Joel and Avram as they are keeping their share.

Ratcliffe bid also doesn't include debt I believe.

Let’s be honest, Qatar probably aren’t walking away here so it’s going to be a case of how long the Glazers think they can keep milking the cow.

Is it 51% though? If they own 69% and can keep 20% that adds up to 49% for Ratcliffe. Where does this magical 2% come from?
Not sure it works like that, when they sell their shares as the B variety they automatically become the A variety so are not worth as much in voting share terms to lose voting control, they would have to sell more than 51% - or at least that's how I understood it

Manchester United will never go for 5 billion ever again. This is the only time it's going to be valued this high. If things go pear-shape again then the value of the club will massively diminish
I think if the stadium and training ground is improved as well as the squad then the club value will go up, the Glazers want to benefit from this without having to invest the necessary money.
Hopefully they'll just take the guaranteed cash from Sheikh Jassim now and get out of our club

Also, Qatar do not suddenly come out of nowhere and submit a bid of this sum without talking to the Raine group. Please be sure to understand there has been thought to the bid.

Not in 3 years it won't.

Seems pretty clear that SJ's third round bid was ~£5bn but that included the £500m or so debt.

Now he's upped the bid to £5.5bn. So £5bn for the club £500m to clear the debt, and a further £800m for investment.

The whole process has been 100% performative to extract as much as possible from Jassim. What we all suspected.

I think so yeh.

Will someone please think of the children

Well, they did walk away from liverpool eventually. But if they are serious about buying us and have the financial means to easily do so, then it's extremely annoying that they are allowing this to drag out and playing games with the Glazers, as it could affect our transfer window.

How long would this transaction take to close?

I hope whoever the owner ends up being, they have done their planning on the structure they want in place. So we dont have to wait til September to make our signings because the Director of Football wasnt selected.

The two situations are hardly comparable.

Thank you boss. so the current structure of 69% ownership glazers have, how much these two bastards own? in other words how much their share is total ownership % of Man Utd?

Morons on Twitter verse saying that capital gains tax of 15% makes SJ bid even worse because it’s a full sale, what they didn’t realise is the company is registered in the Cayman Islands so no capital gains tax it means if they do the deal now with Qatar for 69% of £5.2bn which is $6.5bn full valuation and the six siblings would get $4.48 billion now without any tax liabilities.

I do think people have got the £6 billion of SJR wrong more like $6 billion or £5 billion which was better than all the previous SJ bids for 69% however he has a bid of £5.8bn or $7.2bn for 51% only because he’s giving increased value in year 3 and year 4 for the remainder of Joel and Avram’s shares because they are not paid now.

Assuming this is true this means that the other 4 siblings would be paid $3.24bn and Joel and Avram $432 million for the additional 6% giving SJR controlling shares, then he would convert old b shares to new shares and give Joel and Avram about 20% if a restructured company, this is incredibly messy. I just don’t see the Glazers moving on Qatar bid unless they offer £6 billion pounds for 100% and stop using potential investment as part of the bid.

The saga ends soon right now I’d go 65/35 in SJR favour

Is there any chance that the SJR bid is not a state backed bid? And is in fact himself and other investors from the 92 Foundation? Surely if it was state backed they would have come in and just blown the competition away without needing all this back and forth and 11th hour bids?

Or am I just being naive?

I can confirm that even though Sir Jim voted for them, the Tory government won't be backing his bid for Manchester United :wenger:

Ducker says Ratcliffe has bid $3 billion for 51%

They walked away from Liverpool as soon as it became clear the Glazers were ready to play ball. Glazers knew their buyer and didn't want Liverpool's owners getting their cash. It's all been orchestrated perfectly with Ratcliffe used to extract the best possible terms.

It obviously isn't irrelevant or they wouldn't have made the offer or leaked it publically. The court of public opinion may not be a deciding factor but it is a factor.

Sir Jim: Be vewy quiet, I’m hunting bunny wabbits

The whole world including the Glazers have been waiting on the Qataris to pull a rabbit out of a hat. They finally do, and it’s this emaciated looking thing that looks like it’s escaped from animal testing.

What’s really funny is that people in this thread and on Twitter think INEOS‘s incredibly experienced and professional M&A team didn’t war-game this out months ago.

Agree completely.

Also it subtly, but very tangibly makes it so that if the Glazers stay on with Brexit Jim, the pressure to reinvest in the club at all levels will be absolutely HUGE.

The entire fanbase would know that another owner was vocally pledging to immediately sort the debt, the stadium, the infrastructure and the squad.

So the mood among the global Utd fanbase if that was denied to us and then more ‘dividends and excuses’ would be so toxic it’s almost hard to imagine.

And though the Glazers may not give a feck about the club, or the fans, they do care about PR, and sponsorship A LOT.

And after what Jassim has pledged - they (or any owner) won’t get it easy anymore.

What I dont get is how come Journos keep on parroting the 100% Buyout Option that Qatar is putting out there, when we all know the Glazers only own 69% of the club.

Jassim should offer a sweetener like hosting a Tampa Bay game in Qatar if they really want that bid to succeed

This £800m pledge from Jassim doesn't even buy a stadium.
