Interesting. You'd expect Qatar to want to push those mega transfers as soon as possible. But they just want full control. A scary thought would be that they turn out to be incompetent in the end. Everyone seems to be expecting City like structure.

They were a bit incompetent until they hired a certain fraud of the bald persuasion.

Remember the Robinho days :wenger:

Need this sorted before we run out of midweek fixtures. Was hopeful it'll be done before that but the Glazer rats deliver once again

I'm pretty sure it's standard practice (even for super rich people) to get a loan when you're building something that costs a couple of billion. Doesn't mean you're skint.

It was reported on an official brief by Al Jazzer, others here have also answered this question to. I suggest you search through the thread and you’ll find it but let’s be clear here I’m not clasping at straws because SJ with Qatar could still easily buy the club with SJ being a completely different entity in name only from PSG owners and we all know they have enough lawyers to get that through Uefa and EPL Prem league fit and proper tests, the part your missing is they’ve been outbid and outmanoeuvred by SJR and that was always their main uSP, that they have the most money, the biggest bid, a world record bid, the best bid !

Well where is it or
As Jerry Maguire would say ;
Show Me the Money ? “
An official brief, seriously? also whether they have been outbid or not is not the point, you in your original post were spouting rubbish like PL will stop it even if they buy the club because they are now officially confirmed it is qatar state, now its turned into actually just check in the thread, also what happened to pl stopping the bid or did Qatar suddenly rememer to hire lawyers they didn't have earlier between this post and the previous one? you and everyone else has a well founded suspicion that this Qatar's bid not Jassim's you should have said so rather than the bs about it being confirmed by "Official Briefs"

Chucking a couple billing here, few billion there and most billionaires would start feeling more like millionaires pretty quickly.

Super wealthy people tend to have mortgages, pay via credit card, hire cars and save up for Christmas via Park* because it makes sense to do so.

*Possibly made up.

It’s been briefed in multiple news outlets
Here’s just one https://www.express.co.uk/sport/foo...over-Sheikh-Jassim-Sir-Jim-Ratcliffe-news/amp

He’s basically has the approval of the Emir and PSG snd united would look to be part of a multi club company with PSG, Braga, Man united and others , so jets stop pretending this is a key aye bid it ckearly isn’t and has never been a priority bate bid however they wish to present it to UEFA and EPL

Tried the bolded in google translate and I still don't have a clue what it means

They're also looking at other sports - the Saudi league has a ton of money in it now (and hence the Ronaldo salary), they want a cricket league to rival the IPL or alternatively invest in it etc.

Not sure what ties all of this stuff together but there's a general push towards sports investing. Maybe they got tired of Masa Son blowing their money on tech startups and are putting it into sports now.

For what it's worth, I'm still fine with it. We're a state backed club, I'll get over it when we sign Mbappe, Messi, Neymar as our front three.

The assumption being that the Glazers won't be open to being offered more, remember these are the Glazers.

Oh I'm sure they will be given the chance to up their offer. Glazers want every penny possible. Just that Qatar won't get emotionally invested and pay over what they think it's worth to them.

That is not a confirmation of anything, we all know it is Qatar but that is not an official confirmation. You can't claim PL will suddenly not be ok with Jassim's bid because Bald Duncan says Jassim has a clearance from Emir and PSG.

His lack of rashness is starting to grate I have to say.

And do we really want someone running the club who has to beg his dad anytime he wants to do anything, especially when his dad hates football?

Please dad, he's proper good, promise I won't ask for any more this summer. Pleeeeeaaaaasssssseeeee.

Nightmare.

This is the last thing Qatari bid supporters should worry about.

Their Owners' and Directors' test has been a joke ever since letting PIF buy Newcastle.

United being the side to buck the "State money is the only way to get success" narrative that some clubs and fans now push, would be fantastic.

We are the only club in English football capable of doing so, if we are managed correctly, on and off the pitch. If we became an advert for another State, then football is probably lost forever.

Exactly this.

I'd rather challenge through sticking to our values and developing top class players, even if we only win now and again, rather than buy the trophies and everything is hollow.

My worst fear through this has been that Qatar win, spend ridiculous money on us, and I will never have that feeling again when we win the league and have had to do it our own way. It really would just feel hollow to me every time we win everything, I'd feel almost apologetic when it's "oh, United won the league again".

For my own values and what I love about the club, I absolutely do not want a state or sugar daddy buying the club. I want a challenge for us to overcome these clubs, and I know we can do it if we sort ourselves out and we're not hamstrung by shite leadership.

I'm torn on how to think about the less than perfect choices in front of us.

On the one hand, the Ineos but feels as though they really can't afford to underwrite what needs to get done to enable United to compete with City and other European powers. Smarter minds that mine may be able to disbuse me of that notion, but that how it seems on the surface. What needs to get done? A lot and I'll just leave it at that. I'm not ever bothered about the Glazers remaining on as minority shareholders so long as they are truly will be minority shareholders and that Jim or someone who cares enough about what happens on the pitch has control over the club.

On the other hand, the Qatari bid vastly preferable from the perspective that the Qataris can underwrite the improvement of every aspect of the club from the transfer budget to the stadium, the training facility, the network of scouts (and analyzing the data) down to everything any anything that needs to get done to enable us United to stand with City for control of the PL -- but at the price of doing business with dirty hands. How dirty? That's an interesting question as I live in a country (USA) that is now banning books and going out of its way to stigmatize LGBTQ+ people and minorities, although I live in a state (California) where the MAGA agenda is not tolerated -- so as an American in 2023 I'm not in much of a position to condemn Qatar. Perhaps subjects of the crown are.

On balance, I lean toward the Qatari bid...unless the Ineos bid can assure us that it will have the resources to instantly compete with City and over 2-5 years put us in a position to dominate City.

Your missing the point we all know Qatar is making the bid

why have they bid less knowing that Glazers are parasites and only interested in the highest money paid into their bank accounts to relinquish their shares, that’s the six billion dollar question now isn’t it ?

If they want the club so much why be so confident you’ve misread the room and assumed just because you might throw in a few NFL games in the Middle East and you wined and dined them at the World Cup they would accept a lower financial bid, please answer the question?

Something doesn’t sit right, have they heard something from the new PL rules that they might be blocked, so if not why is their final bid lower than SJR when all through the process they boasted about their unrivalled wealth and briefed united fans through their PR campaign.

Your wrist expects that much unzipping?

Who do you think will buy the shares off the Glazers in a couple of years? Jim already doesn’t need them and would be a sunk cost since he would have control anyway and has no interest in anything about 51 percent

They may pass them to their kids, like Malcom passed the club to his. There may be an investor or group who see's even more upside than The Glazers do.

Jim may want them so he doesn't have to pay dividends out to Glazers, or may want 100% so he can sell the lot to nation state in 10 years.

Point is, no one knows.

Maybe the Qatar bid is/was always a way to push up the Inios bid.

Why would you bid or put out statements you have no regulatory issues if you think you might be stopped from winning. Wouldn't losing a bid look worse than not participating?

This is exactly what people are thinking. They are expecting Man City V2.0.

No one can assure that outcome, not even Qatar.

Waiting for all of the Season Ticket renewal money to hit the bank next week before they announce that they’re still sticking around.

The answer is generally the simplest one. Ineos is more competitive than expected, also the Qatari bid could be a private bid and not what people assumed.

We could and should be competing with City. We have spend just as much money over the last 10 years.

The Glazers sucking money out of the club has been awful, but not putting in a proper structure for success has been the main reason for our failure. If we had the structure in place during and after Fergie's reign, maybe we would have recruited Pep not Jose.

We don't need a mega donor. Just need someone who can let the club stand on its own two feet, as we did for years before the Glazers.

Imperfect as Brexit Jim's offer might be, I have to admit there's some part of me who sort of wants him/INEOS to win out over the Qataris.

I was in the away end at the Etihad recently to watch City play Leicester and holy feck, it's the most soulless stadium I've been to by a mile. As incredible as their team is, I don't really want United to turn into that.
City’s shite atmosphere has absolutely nothing to do with them having Middle Eastern owners. Not sure how Qatari ownership makes us into a soulless club like City.

Would you really want us to spend so much money that we "dominate City", and by extension, probably everybody else? Just picture what that would actually look like and how much we'd be having to spend. That would be absolutely shite.
