Club Sale | It’s done!

Yeah its sounds like their looking to sell certain percentage of their shares which would be reinvested into the club. I always felt this was the first option the Glazers would go for instead of an outright sale.

the Glazers putting their own money in? Yeah right

A big article came out on Monday, by The Athletic, to say how Joel and Avram couldn't raise funds for a buyout of their siblings, and the reasons behind they are now selling.

Why do people keep going on about Glazers getting investment and not a full sale, when most, if not all reports, say sale. No one has given any credible reasons as how a "partial sale" would actually work. I mean, actual credible reason and not just fantasy stuff.
There's a view their price is unrealistic.

ETH is smart. Airing it publicly so that if that promise isn’t kept after the takeover the fans turn on the owners. Basically making sure they keep to it.

Lets be honest, it's not unexpected. But how do we know if Arnold will be on the job long? And a new guy would inevitability want to make his own imprint and have his own ideas? He may not have the same relationship with ETH as Arnold does since it was Arnold who hired ETH.#

New owner/s, a trusted new person at the top to manage the new owner's investment. This happens all the time.
 And a merry fecking Christmas to you too, who pissed on your turkey?

Because it’s better to assume the worst and pretend nothing good will happen. Even when the manager is literally quoted positively in The Athletic.

This is the Caf. It’s always bad news. Keep up son! :D

Something a little positive, which is nice.

Like a lot of people I’ve become a little obsessed with the idea that the Glazers could sell the club entirely and the thought that they could remain in charge in some capacity after a partial sale gives me the fear, to hear ETH say he’s had a chat with Arnold about it is great, let’s just hope that it means a takeover is further down the line than we think and not a partial investment with them cnuts still in charge…..oh feck! I’m darking myself out now.

It's bartering. Like you wouldn't go and pay the full price for a car in a showroom, you won't go and pay full price for the club.

The tell tale signs come from all the reports, plus, things such as the delayed announcements of the first quarter results, the Glazers not taking dividends, the much needed investment into the infrastructure, etc.

It's all there for people to see but yet they don't want to believe it.

I've been on here nearly 2 decades but yet I'm amazed! Haha

I think he plans to build a dynasty at the club because if the new owners dont like it he can be sacked like Tuchel but he risked it anyway. He really wants to succeed here and he knows he needs money to achieve it.

I wonder if there's a chance that we get bought by someone like Apple/Disney/Amazon with a view to them securing exclusive rights to show all of our games globally on their streaming platform?

I know the Premier League negotiates TV rights collectively but somehow I can't see that lasting as overseas investors look to maximise returns

I think that's the exact reason they want to buy.

I hope not, because a Amazon or Google takeover would potentially be exciting. I think there's been some sort of denial from Apple, but Amazon have refused to comment.

Hopefully something transpires with either Amazon or Google.

It would be cleaned a deal if bezos did it 'privately'. There are a bunch of tech billionaires who own NBA teams. All on a personal level

The Athletic spoke to Avram Glazer (the one you’d tell your kids to avoid)

He’s in Qatar and said the process is ongoing but he’s just there to watch football so didn’t want to take questions on it

The idea that he’s there just to watch football genuinely made me belly laugh. And I go to the strip clubs for the comfortable seats pal..

He’s there because he smells money. Whether that’s through investment, a sale or not even Man Utd whatsoever.

I don't think that's allowed to be honest, wasn't that why sky b halted its bid?

Yeah I’m reading these quotes as investment not outright sale unless I’m missing something.

Between the lines Arnold expects to be their post investment to continue the same job as they were before.
This screams outright sale. No way Glazers will stay at the club

I hope this is just the Glazers trying to tell the market that they really don't want to sell but will if the price is right i.e., trying to stoke the sale price.

I just can't deal with more years of Glazer ownership.

Id they ran a Sahara desert they would run out of sand sooner or later.

My first reaction was to laugh at this. Then I thought about how true it was and that these fellas run my football club. Pain.

No sensible person is going to hand the Glazers money to keep running things the way they are in exchange for 10% equity.

They’re going to have to sell all or majority.

Any major investor is going to want some controls in place. The Glazers attempted to sell 30% of the club to the Saudis in 2019, but evidently weren't prepared to offer the kind of controls the Saudis demanded and they walked away - the Glazers' stance may have softened, though - without outside investment, their business model no longer works.

Yeah.. I struggle with the idea that they're going to get - to quote their statement - "new investment into the club" in order to strengthen the "stadium and infrastructure redevelopment"

That kind of investment would take well north of a billion, perhaps even more.

Firstly, who will surrender that much cash to help the club with no say into the running of the club?

Secondly, which businessperson with their head screwed on would want to work with the Glazers, who have shown beyond dispute that they are incapable of running a football club and have absolutely no interest.

So unless i'm missing something, what is the benefit?

yeah it obviously isn't happening.. they are selling up

but you forgot the most unrealistic part, it would involve the Glazers selling their own shares and then putting that money into the club instead of their pockets.. which would be a first and obviously is never happening either

This is key. If any of the siblings sell their shares, the money goes to them, not the club. So even if the club is sold outright, still not a penny for the ground or squad. Its really hard to see anyone coming in and buying a big stake without control knowing how much investment the whole club needs, what would they get out of it?

This just doesn’t work as a line of thinking though.

To change it they need I think it’s 16 teams in the league to approve it, maybe 5 will make more money with such a change, so why would 11 others be so stupid as to leave themselves out of pocket?

It won’t change, and it shouldn’t change.

What super league news?
I believe that the initial judgement will be released today but we don’t yet know what it will say?

We do:

That'll be a couple of billion wiped off United's value, then. Bad news for the Glazers, but good news for all football fans.

The only thing that might be a negative if Arnold has been told he'd be kept under the new ownership.

We need to wipe the slate keep, save for the manager and some of the players

That takes a huge chunk of 'potential and future revenue' the Glazers were hoping to add to the sale price. Also probably rules out a bunch of Yank investors, which is a good thing.

That's a good question. Potential investors might be persuaded if they think that either, a) they have a clear route to full control/ownership or, b) they can grow the value of their chunk of the club and sell it off in 5+ years.
