I'm using this one as my wallpaper currently:

So am i now. Love it

Yeah i know i took your picture and modified it a bit.

Whoever does these could you PM me the instructions on how to do it in Photoshop. I want to try my hand at it. Thanks very much!

To save time pm'ing i'll write up how i do it. (I'm pretty sure a few pages back someone else wrote up his way) anyway.

First locate an image that you wish to use, i find it better to copy and paste (unless you want to keep the original). So find the image on the net and then right click and copy.

Then open up Photoshop and click file/new. If you've copied an image it should come up with the exact size measurements for that image then click ok.

Then a blank canvas should emerge click on the canvas and then press "CTRL + V" this will paste your chosen image (or if your not a fan of shortcuts simply right click and paste).

Ok now you should have your image infront of you. Now what you want to do is make a copy. Go to your layers box (this should be in the bottom right hand side of your screen but if its not there go to "window" then click on "layers". The layers box should be a small where you can see the layers on your PSD (photoshop file). You should see a small version of your picture in the layers box, you want to click on the small image and drag it to the small icon on the right (in the layers box) next to the bin icon. This will give you duplicate of your image.

Right first thing is to go to your layers box and click the little eye on the left of the top image (this will make that image invisible for the moment so you can work on the image underneath). Now click on the image underneath and go to "Image" - "Adjustments" - "Hue/Saturation", when the Hue and Saturation box comes up you want to take the Saturation bar (the middle one) and pull it all the way to the left, this will make the image black and white. Click OK.

Alrighty we're half way there. Go back to the top image in the layers box (the one you made invisible) and click the little eye icon to the left again, this will bring it back. Now hit the letter "P" this will select the pen tool. Now is the "fun" part, all you do now is click around the shirt (or kit, depends on what your going for) cut around the entire shirt/kit area until the pen tool has connected. Then right click, hit "Make Selection" then "OK". Right you should now have the kit or selected area highlighted, now hold "CTRL SHIFT I", and then press "delete", this will invert your selection and delete the background, and should leave you with the coloured shirt ontop of the black and white image. Little tip if at any point you feck up on the pen tool bit you can go back to your "anchor points" (little squares) and hold ctrl and the mouse movements to move the lines around.

Your basically done, but if you want you can add little things to the image/s to make it stand out more. But i'll leave that up to you (in terms of contrast / colour / lighting / glow etc).

Hopefully this hasn't confused you that much, even though it's a bit of a chunky read the technique isn't actually that hard to do (once you know how). I'm looking forward to seeing your attempts.

BTW Does anyone have a real high quality image of this pic please?

Also can anyone tell me the msn space site where you can view all the pics from the United games, due to an unplanned format I lost the link

Thanks... only prob is when I'm making my mask, it goes black as I am creating it making it difficult haf way through defining the pen points. Is there a way to make the mask selection clear while I create and edit the anchor points etc?

oh yea i should have mentioned that, photoshop original settings are a bit gay. (of course i mean that in the least homophobic way)

At the top just under the file - edit - image - layer - select (etc) bar
Whilst the pen tool is selected you should see a brush icon (starting left to right) then next to that a square with four small squares on each corner well you want to select the box next to that which should be the same icon but with a small brush in the middle.

Hopefully your photoshop set up is the same as mine. Let me know if this works for you (if not i'll print screen what i mean :))

i do them this way.
i cut out the shirt, copy it,make the original B/W , then paste the shirt back on the b/w picture.done

Cheers Niall, the current rage is to have an image blown up to canvas, had a look costs a tad, bout £60-£70, but they do look bloody good, they do a fine job

You'll have to pardon the site on the computer screen :annoyed:, but a lad off there requested I do a image for him, and had it blown up...

Where does anyone get an image of this size quality to be able to have it blown up without the distortion? Anyone got any great links? Websites they use?

Thanks again mate yeah that icon is there and works one last question sorry.. once i have messed up my anchor oints.. or should i say wanted to perfect them, wat it the easiest way to select them to move them slightly? Do I stay pn the pen tool, or pick tool etc?

well make sure not to join up all the lines until your ready to invert and delete.

To do this you use the pen tool (p) and if you click on a line it'll add another anchor point (little square) or if you want to move an anchor point you've already place hold down CTRL and then hold the mouse down to move the point. (Hopefully this makes sense)
