CL Semi-Finals 13/14 - April 22,23,29,30

Bale should have passed there

I thought he should've gone back to his Spurs days pushed it in front of himself and legged it after it. Nobody on that pitch can beat Bale in a sprint.

Didn't matter though. Madrid won and on the balance of chances created they deserved it I think.

Very happy with that result. Great performance from the team, except from isco and di maria.

Bayern may have steam rolled their poor league but they've haven't looked all that impressive against Arsenal, us and now Madrid.

La Decima looks very much on, Jose vs Cristiano in the final...

Watched 160 minutes of Champions League semi-finals, saw no goals

Couldn't be more different to last seasons.

Bayern had the ball, yet for me Madrid are deserved winners and could have won 3 or 4-1.
As it is with a 1-0, it sets up the second leg nicely.

Bayern have to be fully ashamed of themselves after today's performance. Guardiola won't stay in the current job for long if he grows no Plan B in his playbook.

Guardiola sides are always a bit rubbish away in the Champions League. Bayern can still do this for sure in Munich, especially with how Real can be away from home in this competition.

Let´s see if Guardiola takes the same level of criticism of Mourinho after this performance

Modric and Alonso got you 28% of the ball. I agree they did very well shielding the defence and tracking men back, but we arent talking about paupers. We're talking about £30 million central midfield ball players and tonight they struggled with that.

Madrid defended well (cant say that too often) and their lightning pace on the counter was what got them the goal

Wasn't that good, poor shot IMO. Did well to keep the focus, but you'd expect a top goalie to save that.

It was coming in very fast, but yeah it was very close to him. Good reaction save, especially to push it away rather than back into danger.

What nonsense. They've steamrolled the league. No one ever retains the Champions League.

Advantage Real, with Bale and Ronaldo starting next week surely they are good for at least one goal. Same tactics too I imagine.

They played like the away side, a bit like us against Barca. Not a fan of it...but heh, it works.

For all the possesion and the Tiki Taka bollocks, the only time Bayern look dangerous is when they get a cross onto Manzuchiks head

That's exactly how everyone should play against Guardiola sides, pity Sir Alex didn't do the same in 09 or 11. :(

Will Ancelotti? Parking the bus at home with all the money they've got etc etc. Na, it's only Mourinho that gets that sort of criticism.

I love the counter attacking football of Madrid. Everyone always wets themselves over the technical ability of Pep teams, but in the end, possession percentage and pass accuracy doesn't get people off of their seats.

Football is a spectator sport and Pep, as talented as he is, plays football that is boring to watch. It's the same with mourinho - the results will come, but watching them is slowly soul destroying.
