"City have more fans in Manchester than United"

I don't follow the same team as my Dad, or his Dad for that matter, neither do my siblings, it used to be the norm but not really anymore

You are basing a huge generalisation on your specific experience. Anyway each to their own, I completely disagree.

I could say the same about your specific experience as well, we'll just have to agree to disagree

It used to be that way, but it hasn't really been true for a long time now

Kids gravitate towards whomever is winning, they are influenced more by social media than any other factor, that and the explosion of TV coverage in the last 30 years or so is how it is
If that was true, why don't you see many City fan kids in the south? Yet you'd see loads of Liverpool shirts even in their down era?

I used to hear this argument a lot during the noughties back when City were shit. Although it was a myth, it was the only thing they could desperately cling onto. I remember one of their signings from abroad (I think it was Eden Dzeko) said it during his first interview to get the Berties on side. Glad to see this thread getting bumped again as City begin fading back into insignificance.

99% of fans outside Manchester, seems feasible.

5 fans in Manchester and the other 495 spread around the World.

I was tricked into going to Maine Road by a City supporting mate when I was a teenager, along with 2 other guys, both United fans. It was a Saturday afternoon, 3pm kickoff. We sat at one end of the ground and there were rows of empty seats all around us, so not much changed there. I think they won, actually. We 'beat' our mate up each time they scored, so it was a bit of fun.

It was always a massive myth.

it was the only thing they had from 1993 to 2012. They've now embraced everything they criticised us for.
