Are they
Have you been away for the last week

Can't find anything on the web apart from this on City's website:

"Manchester City have released a statement in which they confirm the club will pursue further the circumstances surrounding the tackle by Roy Keane on Alfie Haaland.

Manchester City have instructed a firm of solicitors following published extracts from Roy Keane's forthcoming autobiography that he had intended to harm Alfie Haaland when he tackled him in the Old Trafford derby sixteen months ago.

The club statement reads as follows:

"Following discussions today at Maine Road between the Football Club, Alfie and his legal advisers, it has been agreed to jointly instruct a leading firm of solicitors regarding the circumstances surrounding Roy Keane’s tackle on 21st April 2001.

This action has been taken with a view to commencing legal proceedings against Roy Keane and his employers Manchester United Football Club."

i hope he takes his leg off this time ...

Haaland has been advised to retire. No matter what Haaland did, nobody deserves that kind of treatment, even if he is a bastard. Doesnt look good for Roy. Sad affair this. :(

Grow up! Even if you don't like Haaland, no one deserves that kind of treatment. Keane is a disgrace to the club.

and alfie isnt? the guy was pictured in front of a kill mufc graffitti ... he needs to be taught a lesson

Damn that fecking book! This could get very ugly. If you think that all of this crap is somehow going to create a "siege mentality" at Old Trafford and spur the players to better things, think again. Aside from the manager, I don't see anyone else at Old Trafford closing ranks with Keano. This is not "us against the world", this is nasty, distracting and divisive and the last thing we need at the moment.

As usual, most media sources don't bother mentioning that there is no actual connection between the foul and Haaland's injury problems.

A disgrace! For taking a player out and having the balls to admit it? Would you prefer to have a woofter like Steven Gerard in the middle taking ppl out and later claiming he went for the ball.
The biggest disgrace and shame i associate with Man utd is pansie tree hugging sunshine supporters like yourself.

Sky Sports:

Alfe Inge Haaland and Manchester City will take legal action against Roy Keane over the tackle that may have ended the Norwegian's career.
------------------------------------------------

They should be ashamed for what is either a huge lie or cluelessness.

HAALAND WILL SUE KEANE
Manchester City and Alfe Inge Haaland have decided to sue Manchester United's Roy Keane over his tackle on the player on April 21 2001. More details to follow

http://msn.skysports.com/skysports/home

He obviously thinks he's got a leg to stand on :(

Keane made his bed,now he must sleep in it
The sad thing about this whole affair is that it could have been avoided, Personally I think that Keane is an idiot, He has chosen to put his own ego ahead of the team. This is going to be really disruptive for the whole team I can't see anyone having any respect for him as a result of this. I am absolutly horrified at the concequences of this whole sorry episode

Grow up Keano you idiot :o

Don't think so. One leg finished his career, Keane finished his other leg. So he hasn't got a leg to stand on.

Seriously, United's lawyers read the book and they don't think there's reason for concern...

for video of the "tackle", see here:

haalands injured knee DOES take a significant hit, despite it not being the one that was initially targeted. the targeted leg is forced inwards, and collides with his injured knee quite heavily, which then twists upon impact and is slammed against the ground.

...and, secondly:

Keane book kept United in the dark
By Mihir Bose (Filed: 16/08/2002)

Roy Keane may have broken Premier League rules by not showing Manchester United his forthcoming book Keane - The Autobiography before it was serialised in a national newspaper.

The first the Old Trafford hierarchy knew about Keane's confession of how he deliberately set out to injure Manchester City's Alf-Inge Haaland was when they read extracts on Monday morning.

Sir Alex Ferguson, defending Keane, was quoted as saying that the club had perused the book and seemed to suggest that United's lawyers had done the work.

However, Old Trafford insiders say that Ferguson must have meant that the publishers' lawyers checked the book. United's lawyers certainly did not and the book only arrived on the desks of the Old Trafford executives as the paper hit the street.

United have been wanting to get hold of the book for some time but, much to their frustration, the publishers, Penguin, were unable to supply a copy. As a result, Keane may have violated the code of the Premier League all players accept...

So what??? It didn't injure him. It's his other knee that's injured, and was already before that game. Again, his O-T-H-E-R knee..

Nice to see you're done your research on the subject though - only confirms what we all know; nothing interests the footballing public more than our club.

well, it will be argued that the tackle made the injury worst.

, you're perhaps trying to stretch this a bit too far in order to have something to say. So he hit the other leg which then hit the now injured leg and caused the damage . This is the thinking of a 15 year old who suddenly turns into a doctor after studying a few video clips on the internet. What a pile of shite your analysis is really. Do you have a medical degree or a link to an article by one with a medical degree?

So why did Haaland say this is on his own web site on Monday 14th May 2001..?

"Knee injury wasn't caused by Keane

I had the operation on my knee earlier in this week and it went well. In fact, I wouldn't really call it an operation; it was more of a clean-up job on my knee. And I just wanted to make it clear that it was not the knee that took a knock in the Manchester derby, despite what some papers have reported. It's my left knee that's been bothering me, and it was clearly shown on Sky that it was my right knee that took the knock. Another example of the papers not checking their sources! It's actually been bothering me for the last three months, but I've played through it as we attempted to avoid relegation. Now that we're down, it seemed like the most sensible thing to do it now, to get it out of the way so I'll be ready in time for pre-season. While the others have been preparing for the last game, against Chelsea, I've been having treatment every day in an attempt to get some movement back into my leg. After anything like that, it all goes a bit dead, so they're just trying to!
get the swelling down and get the muscle working again. It's one of those things that just had to be done and, as I say, it seems to be going well so far."

If that's their argument, then bring them on. Maurice Watkins will make a meal out of that one.

if you look at the footage youll see that his O-T-H-E-R knee was taped

i'm sorry, did i attempt to diagnose the injury? no...i'm just telling you what the video shows. keep your futile attempts at humour to yourself...

yes, which is why i pointed out the difference between his injured knee and the targeted knee...

well, he seems to have changed his tune, and i'm sure city will find a doctor out there somewhere to back up their new story. should be interesting...

if that hit made his knee snap the knee was fecked anyway ... his other knee didnt take any ligament damage there as his feet were in the air

honestly, no. but i enjoy the spectacle of the whole thing, don't you?

Are you being totally serious here when you say that he's injured because Keane hit one leg which then hit the other .

The fact is you have the guilty verdict ready, i.e. keane caused the long term injury now you just have to fit in the facts and create a story that could be possible. Well, eejit, you first gather evidence then you review them and get the verdict. Othervise we get these idiotic creative stories like you just managed to come up with that are based on nothing.

i bet that doctor will find an explanation why haaland was able to last the game, play for norway 3 days later and play v west ham 7 days later ...

i'm not saying keane caused the injury or worsened it, but the video does show it taking a knock, twisting, and then then hitting the ground, all of which city lawyers and doctors will argue worsened the injury.

for the third time ... why didnt he have to be subbed? why was he able to play for norway 3 days later? why was he able to play v west ham a week later?

because, like i said, i enjoy the spectacle, and will enjoy the court case as well. face it, if this was involving a liverpool player in keane's shoes, you'd be enjoying it as well.
