Exclusive: Medical Expert Gives Views On Aly Cissokho's Teeth Problems
Goal.com can share exclusive insight into the possible problems behind

Medical expert and Ascoli club medic Renzo Mandozzi has told Goal.com what he feels could be the medical reasons behind the delay in Aly Cissokho's proposed move from Porto to AC Milan.

A problem with the players teeth has caused the deal to go downhill and there were fears it would collapse after Milan ordered the player to have another medical. Cissokho had the final examination this afternoon and the player's entourage are currently locked in talks with the Rossoneri in an attempt to salvage the deal.

Goal.com's Italian bureau called doctor Mandozzi who has over 27 years of experience dealing with player medicals and he has exclusively given his take on what Cissokho's problem could be.

"In 27 years as a medic, I have never had to refuse a transfer as a result of problems related to teeth," Mandozzi told Daniele Perticari of Goal.com Italia.

"There could be two problems here. The first may be linked to the presence of granulomas which could affect human muscle or the heart.

"The second could be an orthodontic defect which can be solved with the use of a brace. Both problems can be cured with the right medical treatment.

"As far as I am aware I have never come across a disease which would make an athlete an illegible player, but I am speaking in general terms.

"If a club buys a player it's because they believe in him. Usually teething problems are dealt with easily by treatment."

The Rossoneri are likely to make one final decision over the player later today after doctor Jean-Pierre Meersseman presents his results to the player's entourage and Adriano Galliani, who are all currently locked in talks at the club's HQ in Via Turati.

WTF?
This is quite strange.

Cissokho deal collapses

Aly Cissokho's proposed move to AC Milan has collapsed after the Rossoneri failed to meet Porto's demands.

The French full-back had appeared to be all set to join the Rossoneri, and had even claimed to have signed a pre-contract agreement with the Serie A giants.

The move had been delayed over fears regarding dental problems revealed during a medical, but that issue was resolved after the player underwent further tests.

A £12.7million deal was widely touted, with the formalities expected to be pushed through without any hindrances.

However, Milan now claim that the move has stalled due to financial differences with Porto.

The Italian outfit are believed to have requested to have the deal altered to incorporate an initial loan switch, with the view to a permanent agreement being struck in the future.

That has fallen through, though, as Cissokho's current employers are demanding too much money.

"Unfortunately, Porto's requests for a loan deal are too expensive," Milan general manager Adriano Galliani told Sky Italia.

"The transfer of Aly Cissokho has therefore failed."

Deal -> no deal -> deal -> no deal

Aly Cissokho to complete £9m Liverpool transfer 'within days'
Aly Cissokho is set to complete a £9million transfer from Lyon to Liverpool in the next few days, according to reports in France.
The Reds turned their attention to the 23-year-old left-back after missing out to Manchester City in the race to sign Gael Clichy.

Remi Garde, the coach of cash-strapped Lyon, recently revealed the board were willing to listen to offers for Cissokho, who joined the French club from Porto in a £13million deal in 2009.

The announcement alerted Roma to his availability and persuaded Liverpool to act by making a bid, reports Le Parisien.

Lyon officials are apparently happy with the sum offered and the France international is likely to become a Reds player early next week.

Liverpool were also considering Jose Enrique as a solution to their left-back problem, but Cissokho's arrival will bring an end to their interest in the Newcastle United star.

Enrique, who is in the final year of his Magpies contract, is also a target for Arsenal, who may now face no competition for his signature.

feck, am I thinking of the wrong player or isnt this guy meant to be shit-hot?

How come Lyon are selling him for £4m less than they paid 2 years ago? Either they gave him a very short contract by modern standards or Cissokho's not quite managed to fulfill the potential we saw at Porto with them. Either way, I can see a move to a bigger club and a better league pushing him onto the next level ie. challenging for a place in the French squad.

He has had a terrible year for Lyon last season. Partly the reason why Lyon are selling him for a less amount than they bought him for.

I think the consensus is that he has regressed significantly since his swashbuckling days at Porto.

He wasn't fantastic, but I think terrible is pushing it. Still got a lot of potential, and could really improve if he got on the right path again.

Tbh, I've been going through the French Journos on my twitter and they all say that he has had a fallout with Lyon Management and had a pretty average year for Lyon, hence the low fee.

According to Downing's dad, he's better than Ashley Young because he can play left back. So I cant see a need for Cissokho...

How come he cost that much after having only played 15 league games for Porto?

Don't know how Liverpool would look with two full backs who aren't good at defending mano y mano. They do need a left back and have already missed out on Riise.

By all accouts he's coming off an absolutely diabolical season at Lyon. Get a grip lads!

Word on the street is his teeth are falling off and it's expected his arms and legs to follow soon.

They didn't so much miss out on Riise as correctly decide he wasn't good enough for them.

we missed out on Riise? :(

no wait....

His 1/10 rating in L'Équipe against Toulouse was the lowest rating anyone got in the season.

I think Dalglish has forgotten that Wayne Bridge, who is English, is now available for £20m... Luke Young might be available too for that price.

He must have done. That is his kind of deal tbf

Roy Hodgson had a bid accepted for Luke Young last summer.

He turned us down.

Then we signed Konchesky.

The guy was a disgrace last season. Didn't Llorais also have a go at him publically saying that he wasn't fit to wear the shirt?

I guess it was another good business for us then, bought him for 300k sold him for 15 million 6 months latter. And in the end he's not that good after all :D

Only the Bebe deal beats that in the history of Portuguese football.

Cissokho wants to be Evra's long-term successor at United... and with France too

In-demand Lyon defender Aly Cissokho wants a move to Manchester United this summer with the club considering a long-term successor to Patrice Evra.

The full-back came close to joining Arsenal last summer following the departure of Gael Clichy to Manchester City, and has continued to develop this season despite his club side enduring a difficult season.

nd now the one-capped France international, who moved to Ligue 1 from Porto in 2009 for £12million, is ready to make the leap to the Premier League.

Ali Barat, Cissokho's agent, said: 'Aly wants to play in the Premier League because he feels it suits his game.

'He has already turned down interest from AC Milan and Juventus because he wants to move to the Premier League and his preferred destination would be Manchester United.' Barat added to talkSport.

Cissokho, 24, once failed a medical at AC Milan over problems with his teeth which the Italian club believed could lead to spinal problems.

He made his international debut last year during Evra's exile from the France squad following the World Cup debacle in South Africa.
Been seeing a lot of stuff linking him with us since yesterday. Talksport say we've already made a bid.

If we buy yet another defender I'm going to be very........annoyed.

If there's any truth in this and we're looking for an Evra replacement, I don't understand why Fergie won't give Fabio a chance to prove himself in the position. He's Rafael's identical twin, which means he should be as good on the left as Raf is proving to be on the right.
