Ciro Immobile

It's very likely that Immobile will leave, the only two questions are whether he goes to Atletico or Dortmund and by when the deal will be sealed and publcily released.

Borussia Dortmund have agreed a £15 million fee for him according to reports in Italy.

Rues replacement? :wenger:. I am going full muppet now.

He's a striker first of all, not a winger. Him and Adrian Ramos are both replacing Lewandoski's part of the squad.
Reus & Hummels are going nowhere this summer.

He looked impressive in the U21 Thiago tournament last summer.

Immobile and Blind. Are you all on the wind up with these players or what?

Immobile's agent confirmed the transfer to Dortmund in German newspaper "Süddeutsche Zeitung" but no confirmation from BVB as of yet.
According to Italian media, he signs a 5 years contract.

Welcome, Ciro!

Hope it's okay to link to the yt vido with his goals from last season:

Wish him the best of luck. I think it's a good transfer for all parties involved.

Dortmund get a potentially new Lewandowski at a decent price, Immobile gets to play for a top club and Torino/Juve cash in on a potential one-season wonder.

Would have been nice to see him return to Juve since we still have a Trezeguet-shaped hole in attack, but I do see why he was sold. He's been excelling in quick and technical sides who are good at counter attacking, such as Pescara and Torino. He failed at Genoa, but there he lacked a Verratti, Insigne, Cerci and now Reus behind him.

It'll be indeed interesting how long it'll take Klopp to integrate him into our team. Kagawa was the very rare exception of the rule that it takes at minimum 6 months, often (much) longer. Remember very well how many lost patience with Lewandowski after (at best) mediocre months when he had joined us.

It does seem players moving between Serie A and Bundesliga find it easier than most to adapt, especially strikers. Vidal, Klose and Toni are recent examples. Gomez was unlucky with injuries and had a tough start, but came good during the spring.

Depends on what you consider news. I've posted one Q&A from an interview earlier this week here: İlkay Gündoğan Transfer Thread
About his health mainly, I never thought we had a chance of ever signing him anyway and I steer clear of these endless rumors. It's a shame such a talented footballer will not play in the WC.

I like this guy. Happy he's joined Dortmund. Reckon he'll be a hit next season.
Many Schalke and Leverkusen fans think he's a one-season wonder if at all, and are convinced that he won't be a success. Time will tell whether that's wishful thinking or not. :)

ETA: Dortmund have been scouting him for 3 years and should be aware of his potential or at least having a more profound opinion than fans. ;)

Juve still own Gabbiadini & Berardi (aswell as Zaza/Boakye?) don't they? Don't think they should be too worried for options up front. Gabbiadini has impressed me every time I've seen him. Juve have lots of dead wood to get rid of up front anyway. Quagliarela, Vucinic & Giovinco don't really seem to get much gametime...

Dortmund have done well to replace Lewa with Immobile and Ramos. Both players who can hit the ground running. Immobile has always been a big talent. Great technically, good size, good speed, good finishing etc. He's got the lot, very similar to lewa in fact.

Would be great if they could also snatch insigne. Those two had a great partnership going at pescara and it could fill the Gotze sized hole in their attack. Plus I'm sure they saw just how talented he is when they played Napoli in the CL.

It wasn't until recently that every time I kept seeing this thread, I thought we signed a new phone sponsor or something.

what kind of player is he? In his youtube video () he looks like a poacher/forward who wants to have the ball in or close to the box.

He has an excellent shot, makes good runs and works extremely hard. But his passing, touch and hold-up play are nothing special. His work rate will make sure that he will get into decent positions and his finishing will make sure that he finishes those, but at least at the start he will contribute far less to Dortmund's overall game than Lewandowski did. To be fair, though, Lewandowski did not look special at all when he started at Dortmund. So we will see what Klopp can do with Ciro. It will take some time for Immobile to adapt to the game.

Dortmund's problem is their new signings are unlikely to be as good as the players leaving so they are only going to get worse. Immobile is a very good player but he isn't Lewandowski.

cheers, mate!

Neither was Lewandowski when they signed him and played second fiddle to Lucas Barrios for an age.

As a matter of fact, nobody is Lewandowski. :D Even if the likes of Ibrahimovic were to come to Dortmund, they wouldn't be a 1:1 replacement for Robert.

IIRC, Sphaero had outlined in a number of posts that whenever a key player left us, Klopp changed our style; sometimes more, sometimes less obvious. He actually had wanted to play differently last season, too.

When, however, our key player Ilkay Gündogan whom we had no recplacement for* - is injured all season and many key players (i.e. Hummels) suffer from numerous long- and mid-term injuries, too, it's not the right time to set the highest priorities on implementing those changes.

During the last matches in the Bundesliga (i.e. in the matches against Mainz and Bayern) you could already see different formations, and with our new forwards on board, I expect even more flexibility on the pitch.

Therefore, the question how we'll do without Lewandowski is far from being definitively answered.

* Sahin is a very different type of player, and Jojic couldn's step up from the start as he came only in Jan 2014 and needed to adapt to the club and the league

Hope he does well there, can't help but love how BVB go about things.
