I think its a result of the IMAX cameras, they fail to pick up the sound and Nolan doesn't like voice overs post cut.

To be fair, Tom Hardy seemed to be taking the piss with his Bane re-recording. The mix in general was shit as well and made it sound completely from another realm.

As long as he’s from Boston, has an axe to grind, and biceps are central to the plot, then aye, he’s grand.
