Christian Pulisic | Chelsea player

Wow, I know they don't always get it right but Chelsea always seem to get the players others want to sign. Christ there is a long list.....

Seen more disappointment from United fans than from Dortmund fans who've actually been watching him play recently

He's not worth his price tag yet. Not at his actual career stage. He should stay on loan to Dortmund or another solid club for another season, at least.

Definitely not disappointed. He's simply just not as good as made out to be. Only 20 years though, so plenty of time.

But Dortmund wouldn't be selling this easy neither if they had a superstar on their hands. Tricky one though, as he could still come good. Needs regular gametime though.

Yeah, he really regressed this season and barely made any impact on the much improved Dortmund side. Dortmund can afford to let him go, and probably feels like it's the best time to cash out now that his stock is still high.

Not that it's not a gamble worth taking by Chelsea, mind. From the kid's perspective though, I'm not sure it's the best possible move to optimize his long-term outlook. Doesn't have the consistency required at the top level yet.

Nice quick business at a good price by Chelsea.

We should go all our for Sancho in the summer. Only problem with that is it would probably spend 100% of our budget to get him.

De Ligt, Sancho and Toby please

I would say it's nice buisness from Dortmund. He'd only have a year left on his deal at the end of the season, so getting 58m for him is exeptional for a player who struggles to get in the team.

Chelsea are signing potential, but if you have money to burn, then that's cool for them too!

And Pulisic going for 58m, what price on Sancho. He has a longer contract, and is a far superior player.

I'm so disappointed we didn't sign Christian Pulisic, regardless of what many will claim he is a talented player and other circumstances have kept him out of the Borssia Dortmund team this season. At the moment I would probably prefer signing Jaden Sancho if I had to choose but I just can't see him moving yet so I do think we should of signed Pulisic and gone back in for Sancho at a later date I guess.

The problem is less about Pulisic and more that they won't sell Sancho in the Summer now. Which for Sancho is probably a good thing but annoying for us.

They're laughing their ass off. 60m is ridiculous for Pulisic who has 1 year left.
Sancho is who we want

60m will be nothing extraordinary if he plays to his potential and becomes an American superstar. Chelsea clearly eyeing the American market.

Ill hold my hands up and say ive not watched him play this season. However in a market where Fred went for £52mil and Lukaku went for £75mil, his potential both on and off the field, to me makes it a good deal.

I have not seen anything from him for us to be worried about. I'm not even sure if he's better than Willian and Pedro.

I am struggling to believe that his contract is ending in the summer and they are paying that much, am I missing something here? Otherwise that's an absolutely ridiculous deal.

Lewandoski is the only Dortmund player of note to make it elsewhere, will the trend continue, we'll see.

In recent seasons - Dembele now seems to be getting his stuff together at Barcelona, Aubameyang is doing well for Arsenal, Ginter and Sven Bender are both doing very well for Gladbach and Leverkiusen, Gundogan seems to be doing alright at City, Hummels for Bayern, there's been a few ;)

But yes, no guarantee for sure! Same with any transfer when you are buying potential.

Yes, he would still have had a year left in the summer. It's still a crazy fee though.

His contract ends 2020.

A player who struggled with form for about a year now (losing his regular starter spot in the process), stagnated in his development despite been given a lot of play time and was clearly not fully commited to the club anymore is leaving the club in the Summer for a sum, from what we could buy at least two players with the potential to improve us.

Not much to be dissapointed about to be honest. We don´t even need an immediate squad replacement for him with the loan part of the deal.

I was going by transfermarkt, but I guess that's not the best source. Thanks for clearing it up.

No, the source is correct, just was very quickly updated ^^

Nah. Its Dortmund. Offer them Mbappe/Dembele money for Sancho and they'll fly him in a private jet to Manchester plus drive him from the airport to the signing table.......

Not bothered about the price. If we were keen enough to pay this and do so almost as soon as the transfer window opened and loan him back to them to sweeten the deal it must mean that there were a number of big clubs who would've been after him in the summer. We had to move now or many other clubs (likely also in the PL) would've been chasing him.

That aside, must say I'm not really excited about this. At least not at the moment. I don't think he's even better than what we have on the right side and neither Willian nor Pedro have been pulling up trees. I seriously cannot imagine the club would be dumb enough to think this lad will replace Hazard.

Marketing reasons and potential transfer ban aside, that's a lot of money to pay for someone who isn't currently a starter and has season and a half let on his contract. Still, he's only 20 and apparently the club was after him for quite awhile. I hope Sarri turns him into a to player.

Good piece of business by Dortmund. Yes he has huge marketing potential, and yes Pulisic is good, but he's overrated here in the CAF.

Look to Dortmund using less than half of the money to get another young gem. They are so good at scouting and developing young talent.

Phew, I am just glad he didn't go to Liverpool.

Chelasea where the only team who made a concrete offer for him. Don't think Liverpool had any need or interest for him now. He'd have the exact same issues there as he has at Dortmund at the moment, with no clear path to the first 11. whereas at Chelsea, with Willian and Pedro both being 30/31, there is a more clear path to the first team there.

I really, really don’t get the hype around this kid. He is fast and skilful but I have seen nothing to suggest he will become a world beater. Bough for marketing purposes, I really don’t see why any kid signs for Chelsea, their record with youth is fecking shocking.

Well of course, we're left twiddling our thumbs while Chelsea sign another future talent. You'll hear he's overrated but he's really not. He's not Sancho or Mbappe admittedly but he's a solid talent and only 20 playing in a position where we are desperately lacking. You'd think Pulisic would be right up the Glazer's street.

If Chelsea fecked up with Salah, Lukaku, KDB, quite frankly Pulisic has no chance. He is in no way ready for the PL.

I haven't seen anywhere apart from the caf that considers £58m for pulisic and loaning him back for the rest of the season as a good deal for Chelsea. A lot of chelsea fans on reddit are in meltdown.

He gets massively overhyped on here based on people convincing themselves he would be coming to United for some reason

It's a good buy imo, both from football and the marketing perspective, even more baffling we haven't gone for him given Ed's hard-on for business matters.

I'm not surprised he signed for them, what young player doesn't dream of being the 45th youth player on loan at Chelsea.

All three of those players "failed" here under a certain manager who has just been sacked by United. And none of them really failed. They were never given a real chance.

Clearly there was a problem with the youth setup at that time if they weren’t developing or being handled properly to put it all on José is a bit of a lazy rebuttal. What chances are youth getting now? Tammy Abrahams on loan again.

It's a strange transfer, they already have Hazard, Pedro and Willian to play on the wings. 60m isn't that bad of a fee when you consider Sterling was bought for 50m before the over inflated market and Pulisic has got the potential to be a very good player and obviously will have great market pulling power. The thing that makes it stranger is that they are willing to sell Hudson-Odoi who could end up just as good potential wise as Pulisic for 40m.

Its a good sign if you ask me. Ed could have easily bought him saying hey we need a RW but the fact that the club decided not to do so despite the huge business opportunities the deal presents means that the club are seriously considering a more structured approach to signing players.
Regarding Pulisic, I never felt he was really special the few times I watched him. When you watch Dembele / Mbappe, you get the feeling that they are special, Pulisic looks like someone who does the basics right, but other than that, I don't find him to be special or once on a generation talent and certainly not worth 60 million pounds

Salah and KbD were 23/24 when they left Chelsea. They were way past youth stage.

Big feck up though, especially KdB who was superb in Bundesliga when loaned out.
