Christian Eriksen

Jones clearly wasn't a top world talent. He was a good prospect who happened to be English which meant there was a bit more focus on him at the time. He was rated as a good potential for talent, but that's about it. Hernandez probably had a better known profile though, with his prior international input and decent record at his old club.

I thought Eriksen was really good last night. Passed the ball better than anyone else on the pitch.

Not sure if he's the type of player we should be looking at, mind you.

I agree with that. I like him very much but I don't think at all that SAF will buy him.

Now, everyone migrate to the Javi Martinez thread for the upcoming match against Bilbao.

I still don't understand why they would sub him with still half hour left in the game. He likes to keep it simple too, like Cleverley. But then again, the whole Ajax team passes the ball well.

Agree with this. Eriksen is a very good player already and has potential to become even better, but I don't really see where he'd fit in in our system. He'd basically compete with Rooney for the behind striker/attacker midfielder position and I only see one winner in that scenario.

Christian Eriksen will remain at Ajax until 2014, according to his agent.

The Denmark international is rated as one of the best young talents in European football, and he has been heavily linked with a move to Manchester United.

However, the agent of the 20-year-old playmaker has played down reports of a move to Old Trafford, by insisting Eriksen will see out his contract in Amsterdam.

"Many clubs are still interested in Christian,” Martin Schoots told retesport.it. "In the future you never know what can happen. Christian is bound to Ajax until 2014 and then we'll see."
In the future, god only knows.

That's good. More games under his belt and perhaps another year of CL should mould him into a even better player. If he does not extend his contract next season he'll a very good value for money transfer.

There is no way in hell that Ajax will let Eriksen run out his contract. If He doesn't sign a new contract in the next 12 months, he'll be sold in the summer of 2013. Ajax depends on the money from transfers since they do not get a lot of money from television or other commercial activities.

Despite being linked to a host of Premier League clubs, Ajax's Christian Eriksen is content to stay with the Dutch side.

The attacking midfielder has been in good form for Ajax in the centre of the park, and Premier League clubs like Chelsea, Manchester United, and Manchester City are believed to be monitoring his progress.

However, Eriksen told fifa.com that he values playing time over the prestige of moving to a bigger club.

"I think that I'm still developing here at Ajax and that the regular playing time that I am getting is making me better and better, I don't see the need for a move at the moment." he shared.

The Dane is hoping a few more seasons in the Eredivisie will improve his playmaking and leadership qualities.

"I have a pivotal role as No.10, and I obviously also have to be a leader as well. But I'm a young player and I'm still trying to improve things in terms of the image I project and my leadership qualities." Eriksen said.
Happy where he is, the fact he hasn't come out and glorified all things United, speaks volumes to me.

Inter Milan ace Wesley Sneijder has told Christian Eriksen he's not ready for a big club move away.

The Ajax attacker is a target for Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea.

But Sneijder told BT: "In about two years Christian Eriksen will be ready for a bigger club, but not now.

"Eriksen can be a key player for Ajax in the coming season, and maybe one more season, then he may begin to think about changing clubs."

However, Sneijder added: "If Real Madrid or Barcelona come after him, he must leave immediately, because at those two clubs, you can improve yourself - even if you only train and do not play many matches."

Bit of a contradiction there Wesley!! Basically saying Eriksen would only develop at Barca and Real! Insanity! He must be still sore that we didnt go in for him last summer.
Eriksen is just what we need though. He could be eased into the team next season with Scholes playing most games. He would be available at the right price and will more than likely eventually become a better playmaker than Modric and the likes! Would more than make up for the slight blow of Pogba's impending departure too!!

Developed just like you did at Real right Wes?

Well, to be fair, he hardly played at Real and improved to win the Treble and almost the WC the season after. Amazing RM training and not playing did that.

Ajax gets involved in the struggle for Adam Maher. AZ midfielder has been coveted by PSV, but the Amsterdammers want is already hedging on a departure from Christian Eriksen. The Dane is in talks with Manchester United.

AZ wants 12 million for Maher, who still is under contract until 2015 in Alkmaar. If Eriksen sold, that Ajax provides an amount of 22 million euros. The reigning champion will not go beyond 9 million for the 18-year old talent that last season was one of the trendsetters in the Eredivisie.
According to this we're in talks with Christian Eriksen.

Was very underwhelming at the Euros, though I wouldn't base my opinion of a player on 1 tournament. Maybe well get a knockdown price ;)

Could he be developed into a CM - for those who watch him?

I'd be surprised if it was true.

His price tag should be low after an underwhelming Euros but isn't he a similar player to Kagawa. I don't think we're interested in him, just paper talk.

feck Eriksen, I'd rather have one of the trendsetters in the Eredivisie.

Think he is going to be a top player would love him at OT.

He is best suited to the Kagawa role at least. I don't think he is ready to leave the Eredivisie yet though, needs to mature more.

When he is more mature, the big vultures like Madrid and Barca will be in for him so that means we won't be getting him.So i hope we rather take a punt right now.

He didn't show very much at the Euros, but I put that down more to his team than anything else. This story does have a whiff of the 'look for any decent midfielder in Europe and link them to United' to it though.

I'd definitely take him. Always looks good for Ajax - from what I've seen anyway. Get in there while the goings good ;D

Also considering he was in the hardest group, and Denmark had high expectations for him considering he is only 19 years old. Don't think we'll get him though, we signed kagawa to play there and he just doesn't seem like a player we'd go for. Also we seem to be after Lucas as well.
