You’re ignoring the actual point being made (clearly because you can’t counter it) and instead are focusing on the minor details. I’ll be totally honest, I thought Astana were Uzbek when I made that point originally and then remembered they were Kazakh afterwards, which knowing the geography I know Uzbekistan sits between Azerbaijan (UEFA) and Kazakhstan (UEFA) and made an incorrect assumption that they were also in UEFA.

The point I was making remains exactly the same, but you know that and just don’t fancy admitting that you were talking shite.
 
Never understand what it means when journalists state a manager is "realising the enormity of the task."

I'm presuming he doesn't have a line on the manager's inner thoughts so what is that as a piece of analysis? I am pretty sure ETH saw a team finish 6th with rifts all over the shop, a lame duck manager and discontent among the fanbase. It seems to presume a certain ineptitude on the manager's behalf if he was so clueless that Eriksen deciding on his future has enabled his analysis of where the club stands. So many crap journalists these days.

Anything to have a dig :lol: United always had an issue attracting players when London teams were involved. Admittedly the likes of Arsenal rather than Brentford but there’s so many other factors involved in Eriksen’s case.

Debatable. He's presented a view on Erik Ten Hags thoughts as fact for a start, and even if he had written it to ensure he hadn't confused the two I don't agree with it.

It’s a total dramatisation of a very normal scenario in football. But Alex Crook just wanted his engagements up
 
There is no denying that ETH is privately probably really surprised at how slow potential negotiations on several potential targets is taking.

However, it may well be, he wants a week or 2 with what he has available to assess in pre season before finalising incoming & outgoing players with the board.

We don't know what ETH was promised or has asked, but I'm sure, United DOF has a rough idea re approach over the next month.

That’s not possible because we just lost Matic, Pogba, and Mata means we are already short of players in midfield so there is no logic of assessing since it’s obvious we need new midfields, and the new players coming before pre season training would have been the best scenario than any other scenarios since they will get more times to train together as a team.

If I were Eriksen I'd definitely wait to see what other players United have signed before deciding. De Jong will be a strong pull.

If Eriksen stays at Brentford it will be him staying at the smallest club in his professional career (with all due respect to the club), if he signs for United he'll be signing for the biggest.
Even with zero transfer from us I makes no sense to stay at Brentford sporting wise.

yeah sure fella no sporting sense at all he will only get to start very game, have the team built around him (which is the set up he has for Denmark pretty much) which is absolutely perfect for his stated sporting ambition after coming back from dying on the pitch - lead Denmark out at the World Cup. I know it’s a bitter pill for some to swallow given the stature of the two clubs but there are sporting merits for him to stay with Brentford.

He was brought in to be one of the creators in VanGaal‘s system with a more free role.

He started well enough but went downhill quickly. He and his family never settled.

I don‘t think LvG is 100% to blame, he tried everything with him, playing him in different positions etc. In the end you cannot keep playing a player that is not performing.

You think its better to be the leader of a side fighting relegation over a important player in a side higher up the table, no logic to what you're saying.
A million players have made the switch up, only players making the switch down are forced to, from a sporting perspective you want to be playing in the best club possible.
If he stays at Brentford its purely for other reasons and not sporting reason, Brentford wouldn't even be able to guarantee him top flight football a year from now.
 
If he comes, he‘ll get lots of games. I‘m not worried about the additional stress, Daley Blind has a similar issue and plays brilliantly for Ajax, in the Champion‘s League.

He will be great for us.

I can’t help it if you are unable to see that there are sporting reasons to stay at Brentford, you do realise we play in the smae league currently? Which is the toughest league in the world, where he would be starting every game with us not rotating with others and getting the odd Europa league game.

There is nothing wrong in what he said. He just stated the facts regarding two clubs standings and going forward sporting wise. He didn’t disregard Brentford at all. You seem to be quite touchy about the whole subject. Whenever anyone says anything you are on it. You have disregarded United far more than anyone on this forum have disregarded Brentford and even if they have compared them both or said something about Brentford it’s without any malice or ill intent. In fact, most of the posters here understand Eriksen’s reasoning and gratitude towards you lot and actually many of them hope that he stays there out of respect. You on the other hand jump at the opinion of the any person who thinks otherwise and make it a mission of your own to set them straight.

Not sure how you’ve come to the conclusion I’ve disregarded United when I’ve clearly stated there are many reasons why he would join United. What I pick on is the dismissive nature of some posts. To say there are no sporting reasons to join Brentford over United is clearly not true don’t you think? I’d love to see an example of where I’ve disregarded United by the way.

Eriksen is too good not to feature at united regularly especially with the five substitute rule, there's no guarantee he'll start every game but also he is to good not to get starts.
Staying at Brentford is simply waving the white flag saying "I'm going to take it easy from now hence forth", which isn't a sporting reason. But what happens when Brentford get relegated which isn't beyond any realms of impossibly, would he look for the next London club or go down with them.
And you speak of the Europa league like its a small competition for a fan of a team who have a total of 1 EPL seasons?

I mean what a ridiculously condescending attitude.

As for the Europa League whether I am a fan of Manchester United, Brentford or the local pub team from the Dog and Duck it’s fairly obvious that that competition isn’t as big or important as the Premier League or are you saying otherwise? Would i love Brentford to be in the Europa league obviously but I’d rather win the PremierLeague than the Europa ;)

They love to overhype us as well as get the digs in, don't remember players walking barefooted to join us, must have missed that lure we had at one time.

Yep. But only to see if he's going to actually get a regular game!
Not to see if we'll be competitive when the other option is a team who'll finish between 14-20th!
 
I think this signing, if we pull it off, will be the most impactful signing we will make. He is a top player who could realistically form a strong partnership with Sancho and Cristiano in terms of link up play whilst being a credible goal and set piece threat himself. Unlike Bruno who is prone to carelessness with the ball his short passing game is immense which is important in a possession based team, FDJ will run the midfield for us but this guy will run the offense and will be key, in my opinion, in getting the best out of some of our underperforming stars.

Agree. My point is, it was about football and settling. Not the fact he prefered another club.

I'm sure a lot of footballers in thw world prefer to play for other clubs. But they still do their jobs.

Brentford has never been good enough for the Europa league you know.
Yes of course the premier league is more important but do you know what matters in football winning.
Brentford are in the premier league just to survive, they're not genuinely contenders for any competition and that's the whole "sporting reason" point I mention.
For a player like Eriksen that's a very low bar, there's a reason Kalvin Phillips just signed for City even when he is unlikely to be first choice in his position he doesn't mind competing for his place because this is the nature of a "sportman" because they offer him an opportunity to challenge at the top end of the table, that's why I said staying at Brentford for a player of Eriksen quality under normal circumstances is "raising the white flag, being a big fish in a small pond" and I stand by this comment.
