Christian Eriksen | Signs for Manchester United

Two extrem sides once again. One that doesn't acknowledge that Bruno can be a very good player and one that can't accept that he's been largely shit last season and Eriksen better.
Who in the thread has disagreed that Bruno wasn't great last season?

He is such an intelligent player I can see him dropping deeper as he gets older like Scholes did. Wouldn’t be surprised if he was paired with FDJ and Bruno in a midfield three.

He has been playing almost as a DLP this season. He plays quite deep, definitely a CM now.

Seeing the amount of people acting like Bruno is rubbish and shouldn't even be a starter is truly nauseating. These "fans" are everywhere now. The guy carried us for 2 full seasons. We would have been right down where we are now during those seasons without all of his goals and assists. He goes through some bad form, the rest of the team becomes shit, and now he's apparently useless. Sometimes I think we deserve the shit we've been plunged into frankly.

One of the most bizarre developments I've seen on the Caf.

It's pathetic to be honest but don't expect anything less from some people these days

Bruno even at his best is fairly wasteful, and makes a huge number of high risk passes. However, at his best, he is also an excellent creator and a brilliant finisher. He went off the boil last year and we all knew that signing Ronaldo might impact his form, but that shouldn't take away from his brilliance over a number of years.

Eriksen is fantastic and we should sign him too.

Bruno has shown he can be a very good player, perhaps his poor form of last season was down to the dysfunction of the dressing room and the general chaos of the club.
I would still bring Eriksen in,healthy competition for places is good

I assume he would rather play at Spurs than warm the bench at United (if the intention is for him to be competition for Bruno)

United can’t use the excuse that the transfer fee was excessive with this one

If he doesn’t join it’s simply because he rejected us

Now change Bruno to Maguire and you have the same sentiment. Both were consistently good until last season but you cannot discount a full season.

I think there’s space for Bruno and Eriksen in the same side.

We also know how god-awful our players are at attacking them.

It’s the one area where I feel we really underutilized Ronaldo last year. I expected him to score a lot more headed goals. With better delivery that should be possible.

Ronaldo has to be the GOAT in the air. And he hasn’t lost that ability yet. Despite the physical decline.

He's a top player who's been treated to shit by Conte. Why Inter paid so much money for him without giving him a chance is a mystery. I would really like to see Eriksen at United. The only problem is that Bruno plays in the position where Eriksen is best. But if you can tactically find a place for both Bruno and Eriksen on the team, then I would very much like him to the club. He will even probably be somewhat cheaper now.
Hasn't been a top player for years

Here is my issue with this potential transfer. It highlights how fuking useless we are.

-World renowned talent, PL proven, shows everyone by say...March...he can still cut it in the PL...and we know he is available on a free by June.
-turns out, the guy only went and trained with our new manager and his Ajax team when getting back to full fitness.
-Our manager is announced and we have litterally months to get a head start on other teams if we want this guy.

There is no excuse. It’s like when Cavani was available for ages but we waited till the last minute. When you lose 2 midfielders and another 2 attacking midfielders in one go...Eriksen on a free is basic common sense. If he was coming to Utd, he should have been announced 9am last Friday. It should have been done. But not for us it seems.

We've offered him a contract, what else could we have done at this point? It's up to him now, not us.

Pogba has been free for ages, Juventus still haven’t wrapped it up despite appearing the only ones in for him.
Useless fecks everywhere.

It wasn't just that he wasn't great. He was proper wank. That's why someone like Eriksen makes so much sense. If Bruno can't find back to his form he needs to be benched.

We’ve offered him a contract. Should we kidnap him?

Lads get a grip...Haaland has been going to City for months...deals are lined up all the time. My point is we knew for certain we would be down 4 midfield players by June...4....we knew this guy would be available...this should have been a no brainier. We either sound the guy out early and if it’s feasible get it done or we move on quickly. That does not sound like it is the case...it sounds like we were “monitoring” the situation and now someone else has shown an interest we have jumped into action - sound familiar? Same old uncertain, amateurish approach to deals - Chelsea , Pool, City...fuk monitoring...you don’t even hear about monitoring...if they want a player they go get them. If they can’t, they move on. And that must help get the deals done- when a team has confidence in a player and says we want you. Diaz, Nunez, Haaland - sold a project that needed them.

It’s like Utd have to have to have to have 3 targets for each position and line them up at the same time to try drive the price down for one of them. Result- well so far...we end up with the wrong player for the wrong price. Look at de jong, poor ETH trying to sell a project when it looks like we don’t have to money to back it up.

The frustration is just so bad because you see it happening in slo mo and can’t do anything about it.

Edit: see Nev’s latest tweet. I agree with him, that’s a less pissed off version of what I’m saying. A straightforward deal like this is a case in point.

All ifs buts and maybes.

The real truth was we probably shown an interest from before this thread was created. The link to us and him have been there for a few months.

We got word he would entertain an offer and him being a free agent we negotiated a contract with him.

The fact that he is a free agent means he can’t talk to whoever freely and make a decision whenever freely. Which is why as someone has already pointed out Paul Pogba and Jesse Lingard still don’t have official clubs. I’m sure they have official offers and by the 1st July we will know what contract they have signed.

This is not a negative club issue we have done our part. Chill out and be real with current situations. I’m sure there is good and bad from this transfer market but this isn’t one of them. Unless we mess him around and withdraw our offer.

Can’t take you seriously man when you say say I’m talking ifs and buts and then say “the real truth is....probably”

neither you or I know what has gone on behind the scenes...but my viewpoint has 10 years of universally recognised fuking awful transfer dealings behind it as evidence.

My point simplified, If Utd truly wanted Eriksen, if we had been decisive on this, he would be ours bang on transfer window opening. The fact he is not means either a) he is not convinced - so we move on...we don’t offer a contract and wait to see if he gets a better offer...delaying our other deals as has been the case in the past - Fabrrgas or Thiago or Kroos for example ...or b), It is as I suggested, we have not been decisive at all. Same old problem.

We both don’t know but yet you are adamant with your point of view. Make it make sense.

Logically what you are saying doesn’t make sense. Answer why we should have this wrapped up when he is free to talk to whoever he likes and the word from Newcastle United FC is that he’s likely to accept other offers.

So there has been a clear public communication that he hasn’t yet decided his destination. Again what would you personally like us to do about that?

Nah, Maguire been absolute rubbish, can't do basics right, been a horror show.

Bruno not even been close to that,......Maguire been massive part and reason we shipped in our most goals in our premier League history.

Poor comparison

You'd replace a player in their prime with a player who is soon enough going to be past it why?
Bruno was born in 1994, Eriksen in 1992, not much of a difference. You can still squeeze several years out of Eriksen on the highest level, he is not actually relying on his pace and stamina that much.
And overall, it might be unpopular (and my personal) opinion, he is a better player and more disciplined than Bruno and would suit ETH's system more, plus he is free.
Not saying Bruno is bad but we could have sold him and maybe push for proper DM.
Eriksen in front of FDJ and DM is much better than Bruno in front of FDJ and Fred/MCT or whoever we decide to shoehorn at DM.
We are obviously skint, and if we are buying FDJ we obviously wont have funds for another midfielder as we have other positions to address.

If we could con say PSG into offering 80m for Bruno then I think it would be good business to sell him and get Eriksen in on a free. I reckon even going and paying the 100m for Declan Rice to partner FDJ with Eriksen ahead of them would give us a better team/midfield than bringing in Frenkie and partnering him with Bruno and one of McFred.

All hypothesis of course, and highly improbable.

Not sure what everyone is arguing about in this thread.

We’ve spent so many years being shite that people have forgotten what a top quality squad should look like. We need competition for places for every position. Sure Bruno has been a productive player, but he’s had bouts of really bad form and some very bad games. It was painful to watch that we couldn’t take him off because we had only Mata on the bench who could maybe play a 10. Or Lingard who was so shite there was no point.

Eriksen is a class player and makes a lot of sense on a free. Great for squad rotation. Might even get the nod ahead of Bruno in a lot of games if ETH is looking to play more possession based football. Nobody should take their starting position for granted.

We continuously whine when we look at City’s squad and the quality in depth they have. Well let the new manager get on with his job.

Having one of Eriksen or Bruno starting on the bench (if we can’t accomodate them both in the lineup) is so much more comforting than having Lingard / Mata.

Season 22/23

Eriksen for free + Kenneth Taylor from Ajax. MV at 4.5 mill euro.

De Jong from Barca - 60 mill £ with adds on. If De Jong help United to win premier league

ETH might will end up with this line up :

Raphinha - Eriksen/Taylor - Jong/Fred/Garner - Bruno/DVB - Rashford/Sancho + Ronaldo/Rashford/Bruno. Good enough for top 4

Season 23/24:

Declan Rice on his last year of contract. If he doesnt renew new contract. Then get Rice to free De Jong offensive, flair, creative skills a la De Bruyne for a more offensive role a la Iniesta role.
With De Bruyne, Iniesta and De Jong skill, flair, beat and pass one on one in central midfield area. You just dont hold him back to do simple passes and spread the passes around. Those job and things can Garner, Fred and Rice do it. But not every cm player are like Iniesta, De Bruyne, D Silva, Foden and De JOng. Ability to pass players with the ball in good control.
Those skills and abilities are needs for every teams that are playing 433. To get the most out of 433 formation and total football.

Then the line up could be :

Bruno/Taylor/Eriksen - Rice/Garner/Fred - De Jong/DVB

Pogba has been free for ages, Juventus still haven’t wrapped it up despite appearing the only ones in for him.
Useless fecks everywhere.
I don't think he will come to us .. he played for Spurs ....literally with the current players .. his family is settled in London..
He is moving to Spurs
