Fine. He's just shit. Didn't want to say it.

United fans question why we '"settle" for playing player Y and player X, and yet they are happy to sign a player whose only other option is Brentford.

Anyone have a valid reason why we haven’t announced this signing, pending the medical?
Because the guy died on a football pitch not long ago so I would suggest a proper and thorough medical is needed, with a heart specialist on site, to put him through the tests. Most of, if not all our guys are out on tour, and he’s probably still on holiday. We might even be waiting for certain test results to come back before we even do a medical. Who knows, but it will be announced when it’s announced.

Now we’ve got to the point. That’s your opinion, there’s no need to build an illogical narrative around it. If you think he’s shit that’s your opinion.

i think based on last season he’s still got it when he’s fully motivated and involved as he was last season at Brentford. I think people will be pleasantly surprised by him

Suppose he'll fit in.

The amount of times that I've heard so-called United fans saying "You can't polish a turd" in reference to their own squad is astonishing.

The United players are so lucky to have such backing....

Eriksen is shit

tell me you’ve never seen him play without telling me you’ve never seen him play.

He is quality.

You don't think the dying on a football pitch is relevant? Or not being allowed to play in Italian football?

Fair enough. As I said, I hope I get proved wrong.

Did you actually watch Eriksen at Brentford last season…? Or for Denmark since his comeback? Genuine question.

Yes ok, could I ask you why you came to that conclusion? I have seen some shit players and Eriksen has non of their traits.

You can still play on with a heart condition as plenty of players have proved i.e Daley Blind. Nothing you can do about the rules in Italy.

I think he's a great signing - his main ability is keeping the ball, something we really struggle with.

The Italian football thing is an insurance stipulation in the federation guidelines.

As I said Blind had a pacemaker fitted too. They can play on as long as they are medically passed to do so. 2 of my brothers have pacemakers and the amount of testing they have to go through, a football club would find an issue if there is one there

Players are lucky with fans calling them a turd?

Can we get some exceptions to the "attack the post not the poster" rule in some cases?

I vividly remember when Phil O'Donnell died during a match so it's very much a triggering thing for me.

I’ll answer for him

No

I still believe that Eriksen will only be signed if FDJ doesn’t come to United, and that’s what is holding up us signing/confirming Eriksen.

Ten Haag stated on the press conference that Donny was best utilized behind the strikers and by that we can assume that he will be a backup for Bruno.
Doesn’t make sense to sign Eriksen as a 10/attacking midfielder to be a backup for Bruno and to compete with Donny when our shortcomings are much more pressing in other roles or areas on the pitch.
It could however make sense to sign Eriksen as an advanced playmaker from a deeper position but then again that’s somewhat the exact same role as FDJ will play.
Eriksen in a more holding role makes little to now sense if you ask me (not that anyone has..).

That being said; a midfield of Martinez in the holding role, Eriksen as an advanced playmaker, and Bruno in the 10 role is something that I would be ok/happy with.

Signing Eriksen is a no-brainer, the guy oozes class. He would immediately bolster the quality of our squad.

Lads, it's my opinion. :)

I just don't think he'll be a good fit. I'll be delighted to be proven wrong.

Reading all the abuse that our current players receive, is it only acceptable to abuse players once they've signed for United? :p

I've never been a fan of Eriksen's either but I'm optimistic because we finally have a modern day manager who's buying players to fit his style instead of our usual scattergun approach.

Signing an attacking midfielder when it’s nowhere among the biggest issue in the team (if at all) and the same for LB feels like the dentition of a scattergun approach.

It's not just about the positions. It's about how ten Hag envisions them contributing to the team. I'm optimistic that ten Hag considers all of this unlike previous managers who spent big but, ultimately, didn't know what to do with them once here.

I trust EtH and love what I've seen so far, but I can't help getting the feeling that the signing is out of pity (and Ajax connections) than that of necessity.

Eriksen plays a deeper now anyway. More likely to compete for the midfield two as opposed to Bruno.

That was obviously very tragic but tests to identify issues, follow up treatment, treatment plans including pacemaker etc have all come a long way since then. I’m telling you this as someone who’s been fitted with a mechanical aortic valve, etc, have brothers with pacemakers etc. it’s come a long way

Keep in mind we've lost a lot of experience in Matic, Mata, and even Pogba. We can't just have 23 year old players, it's always nice to mix in some experienced players.
Eriksen will add the experience, he's great at freekicks and corners, where we've been poop for years, especially corners.
Also real world isn't like games, not accusing you of thinking that, but intelligent players like Eriksen can cover more positions than many others can.
Talking about intelligence, i always thought it was a shame that two of our slowest players, Mata and Matic, clearly had the best football brains in the squad, so it's nice to add some more of that, especially in the midfield.

Personally i think Eriksen will start most matches, and be one of our best players the coming season. Calling the POTY of the teamnow before the season starts!

I’m interested to see how he fits eriksen in the team and wether he chooses to play him in 1 position and stick to it or wether he’ll be used in a few different positions. If he plays in a midfield 2 then surely we’ll need a DM next to him to cover eriksen and Bruno.

In actual fact, they are probably less likely to drop dead than people without pacemakers.
